< Psalms 86 >
1 [A Prayer by David.] Hear, Jehovah, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
A Prayer of David. O Lord, incline thine ear, and hearken to me; for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my soul, for I am godly. You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.
Preserve my soul, for I am holy; save thy servant, O God, who hopes in thee.
3 Be merciful to me, Jehovah, for I call to you all day long.
Pity me, O Lord: for to thee will I cry all the day.
4 Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, Jehovah, do I lift up my soul.
Rejoice the sold of thy servant: for to thee, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul.
5 For you, Jehovah, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.
For thou, O Lord, art kind, and gentle; and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon thee.
6 Hear, Jehovah, my prayer. Listen to the voice of my petitions.
Give ear to my prayer, o Lord; and attend to the voice of my supplication.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me.
In the day of my trouble I cried to thee: for thou didst hear me.
8 There is no one like you among the gods, Jehovah, nor any deeds like your deeds.
There is none like to thee, O Lord, among the god; and there are no [works] like to thy works.
9 All nations you have made will come and worship before you, Jehovah. They shall glorify your name.
All nations whom thou hast made shall come, and shall worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
10 For you are great, and do wondrous things. You are God alone.
For thou art great, and doest wonders: thou art the only [and] the great God.
11 Teach me your way, Jehovah. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name.
Guide me, O Lord, in thy way, and I will walk in thy truth: let my heart rejoice, that I may fear thy name.
12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with my whole heart. I will glorify your name forevermore.
I will give thee thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart; and I will glorify thy name for ever.
13 For your loving kindness is great toward me. You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol. (Sheol )
For thy mercy is great toward me; and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell. (Sheol )
14 God, the proud have risen up against me. A company of violent men have sought after my soul, and they do not hold regard for you before them.
O God, transgressors have risen up against me, and an assembly of violent [men] have sought my life; and have not set thee before them.
15 But you, Jehovah, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.
But thou, O Lord God, art compassionate and merciful, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy and true.
16 Turn to me, and have mercy on me. Give your strength to your servant. Save the son of your handmaid.
Look thou upon me, and have mercy upon me: give thy strength to thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.
17 Show me a sign of your goodness, that those who hate me may see it, and be shamed, because you, Jehovah, have helped me, and comforted me.
Establish with me a token for good; and let them that hate me see [it] and be ashamed; because thou, O Lord, hast helped me, and comforted me.
