Psalms 33
1 Rejoice in Jehovah, you righteous. Praise is fitting for the upright.
Riemuitkaa Herrassa, te vanhurskaat. Oikeamielisten on soveliasta häntä kiittää.
2 Give thanks to Jehovah with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings.
Ylistäkää Herraa kanteleilla, soittakaa hänelle kymmenkielisillä harpuilla.
3 Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
Veisatkaa hänelle uusi virsi, helkyttäkää kieliä ihanasti ja riemullisesti.
4 For the word of Jehovah is right. All his work is done in faithfulness.
Sillä Herran sana on oikea, ja kaikki hänen tekonsa ovat tehdyt uskollisuudessa.
5 He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the loving kindness of Jehovah.
Hän rakastaa vanhurskautta ja oikeutta; maa on täynnänsä Herran armoa.
6 By the word of Jehovah the heavens were made; and all their host by the breath of his mouth.
Herran sanalla ovat taivaat tehdyt, ja kaikki niiden joukot hänen suunsa hengellä.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
Hän kokoaa meren vedet niinkuin roukkioksi, panee syvyydet säiliöihin.
8 Let all the earth fear Jehovah. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Peljätköön Herraa kaikki maa, hänen edessänsä vaviskoot kaikki maanpiirin asukkaat.
9 For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm.
Sillä hän sanoi, ja tapahtui niin, hän käski, ja se oli tehty.
10 Jehovah nullifies the counsel of the nations. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.
Herra särkee pakanain neuvon, tekee turhiksi kansojen aikeet.
11 The counsel of Jehovah stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Mutta Herran neuvo pysyy iankaikkisesti, hänen sydämensä aivoitukset suvusta sukuun.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.
Autuas se kansa, jonka Jumala Herra on, se kansa, jonka hän on perinnöksensä valinnut!
13 Jehovah looks from heaven. He sees all the descendants of Adam.
Herra katsoo alas taivaasta, näkee kaikki ihmislapset;
14 From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,
asumuksestaan, valtaistuimeltaan hän katselee kaikkia maan asukkaita,
15 he who fashions all of their hearts; and he considers all of their works.
hän, joka on luonut kaikkien heidän sydämensä, joka tarkkaa kaikkia heidän tekojansa.
16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
Ei kuningas voita paljolla väellänsä, ei sankari pelastu suurella voimallansa.
17 A horse is a vain thing for safety, neither does he deliver any by his great power.
Turha on sotaratsu auttajaksi, ei pelasta sen suuri väkevyys.
18 Look, Jehovah's eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness;
Katso, Herran silmä valvoo niitä, jotka häntä pelkäävät ja panevat toivonsa hänen laupeuteensa,
19 to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine.
pelastaaksensa heidän sielunsa kuolemasta, elättääksensä heitä nälän aikana.
20 Our soul waits for Jehovah. He is our help and our shield.
Meidän sielumme odottaa Herraa, hän on meidän apumme ja kilpemme.
21 For our heart rejoices in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
Sillä hänessä iloitsee meidän sydämemme, me turvaamme hänen pyhään nimeensä.
22 Let your loving kindness be on us, Jehovah, since we have hoped in you.
Sinun armosi, Herra, olkoon meidän päällämme, niinkuin me panemme toivomme sinuun.
