< Proverbs 29 >
1 He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.
Mtu aliyepokea makaripio mengi lakini anashupaza shingo yake atavunjika ndani ya muda mfupi na hata pona.
2 When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
Watenda mema wanapoongezeka, watu wanafurahi, bali wakati mtu mwovu anapotawala, watu huugua.
3 Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
Mwenye kupenda hekima baba yake anafurahi, bali anayeshikamana na makahaba huuharibu utajiri wake.
4 The king by justice makes the land stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down.
Mfalme huimarisha nchi kwa haki, bali mwenye kudai rushwa huirarua.
5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
Mtu anayejipendekeza kwa jirani yake anatandaza wavu kwenye miguu yake.
6 An evil man is snared by his sin, but the righteous can sing and be glad.
Mtu mbaya hunaswa kwenye mtego wa dhambi yake mwenyewe, bali yeye atendaye haki huimba na kufurahi.
7 The righteous is concerned about justice for the poor. The wicked does not understand the concern.
Atendaye haki hutetea madai ya masikini; mtu mwovu hafahamu maarifa kama hayo.
8 Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger.
Mwenye dhihaka huutia moto mji, bali wale wenye busara huigeuza ghadhabu.
9 If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, the fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.
Mtu mwenye busara anapojadiliana na mpumbavu, hughadhabika na kucheka, hakutakuwa na utulivu.
10 The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity; and they seek the life of the upright.
Mkatili humchukia mwenye ukamilifu na hutafuta maisha ya mwenye haki.
11 A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.
Mpumabavu huonyesha hasira yake, bali mtu mwenye busara huishikilia na kujituliza mwenyewe.
12 If a ruler listens to lies, all of his officials are wicked.
Kama matawala atazinagatia uongo, maafisa wake wote watakuwa waovu.
13 The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: Jehovah gives sight to the eyes of both.
Mtu masikini na mkandamizaji wanafanana, maana Yehova huyapa nuru macho yao wote.
14 The king who fairly judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.
Kama mfalme atamhukumu masikini kwa uaminifu, kiti chake cha enzi kitaimarishwa milele.
15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.
Fimbo na maonyo huleta hekima, bali mtoto huru mbali na makaripio humwaibisha mama yake.
16 When the wicked increase, sin increases; but the righteous will see their downfall.
Watu waovu wanapotawala, uovu huongezeka, bali wenye kutenda haki wataona anguko la watu waovu.
17 Correct your son, and he will give you peace; yes, he will bring delight to your soul.
Mwadibishe mwanao naye atakupa pumziko; ataleta furaha katika maisha yako.
18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but he who keeps the law is blessed.
Pasipo na maono ya kinabii watu huenda bila utaratibu, bali mwenye kuitunza sheria amebarikiwa.
19 A servant can't be corrected by words. Though he understands, yet he will not respond.
Mtumwa hawezi kurekebishwa kwa maneno, maana ingawa anaelewa, hakuna mwitikio.
20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
Je unamwona mtu mwenye haraka katika maneno yake? Kuna matumaini zaidi kwa mpumbavu kuliko kwake.
21 He who pampers his servant from youth will have him become a son in the end.
Mwenye kumdekeza mtumwa wake tangu ujana, mwisho wake itakuwa taabu.
22 An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in sin.
Mtu mwenye hasira huchochea ugomvi na bwana mwenye hasira sana hutenda dhambi nyingi.
23 A man's pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.
Kiburi cha mtu humshusha chini, bali mwenye roho ya unyenyekevu atapewa heshima.
24 Whoever is an accomplice of a thief is an enemy of his own soul. He takes an oath, but dares not testify.
Anayeshirikiana na mwizi huyachukia maisha yake mwenyewe; husikia laana na wala hasemi chochote.
25 The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Jehovah will be set on high.
Kumwogopa binadamu ni mtego, bali mwenye kumtumaini Yehova atalindwa.
26 Many seek the ruler's favor, but a man's justice comes from Jehovah.
Wengi huutafuta uso wa mtawala, bali kutoka kwa Yehova huja haki kwa ajili yake.
27 A dishonest man detests the righteous, and the upright in their ways detest the wicked.
Mtu dhalimu ni chukizo kwa wenye kutenda haki, bali mwenye njia ya haki ni chukizo kwa watu waovu.
