Numbers 32
1 Now the people of Reuben and the people of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that look, the place was a place for livestock;
Los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad, que tenían inmensa cantidad de ganado, vieron que la tierra de Jaser y la tierra de Galaad era un lugar muy a propósito para ganado,
2 the people of Gad and the people of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the leaders of the congregation, saying,
por lo cual vinieron y hablaron con Moisés, con el sacerdote Eleazar y con los príncipes del pueblo, diciendo:
3 "Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sibmah, and Nebo, and Beon,
“Atarot, Dibón, Jaser, Nimrá, Hesbón, Elealé, Sebam, Nebó y Beón,
4 the land which Jehovah struck before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock; and your servants have livestock."
la tierra que Yahvé ha derrotado delante del pueblo de Israel, es tierra propia para ganado, y tus siervos tienen ganado.”
5 They said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; do not bring us over the Jordan."
Y agregaron: “Si hemos hallado gracia a tus ojos, sea asignada esta tierra a tus siervos como propiedad y no nos hagas pasar el Jordán.”
6 Moses said to the people of Gad, and to the people of Reuben, "Shall your brothers go to the war, and shall you sit here?
Respondió Moisés a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Rubén: “Pues que, ¿vuestros hermanos han de ir a la guerra y vosotros os quedaréis aquí?
7 Why do you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Jehovah has given them?
¿Por qué desalentáis el corazón de los hijos de Israel para que no pasen a la tierra que Yahvé les ha dado?
8 Your fathers did so when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.
Es lo mismo que hicieron vuestros padres cuando les envié desde Cadesbarnea para explorar el país.
9 For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Jehovah had given them.
Subieron hasta el Valle de Escol explorando el país; y luego desalentaron el corazón de los hijos de Israel para que no entrasen en la tierra que Yahvé les había asignado.
10 Jehovah's anger was kindled in that day, and he swore, saying,
Aquel día se encendió la ira de Yahvé y juró diciendo:
11 'Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
Estos hombres que han subido de Egipto, de edad de veinte años arriba, no verán la tierra que con juramento prometí a Abrahán, a Isaac y a Jacob, porque no han querido seguirme fielmente,
12 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; because they have followed Jehovah completely.'
salvo Caleb, hijo de Jefone el ceniceo, y Josué, hijo de Nun, que han seguido a Yahvé con fidelidad.
13 Jehovah's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander back and forth in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, who had done evil in the sight of Jehovah, was consumed.
Por lo cual se irritó Yahvé contra Israel y los hizo andar errantes por el desierto durante cuarenta años, hasta acabarse aquella generación que había obrado mal a los ojos de Yahvé.
14 "Look, you have risen up in your fathers' place, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Jehovah toward Israel.
Y he aquí que ahora os levantáis vosotros en lugar de vuestros padres, como prole de pecadores, para encender todavía más el ardor de la ira de Yahvé contra Israel.
15 For if you turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all this people."
Pues si no queréis seguirle, Él continuará dejándolos en el desierto, y seréis la ruina de todo este pueblo”.
16 They came near to him, and said, "We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones:
Mas ellos acercándosele dijeron: “Edificaremos aquí apriscos para nuestros rebaños y ciudades para nuestros niños;
17 but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
pero marcharemos armados y sin demora al frente de los hijos de Israel hasta que los hayamos introducido en su lugar. Entretanto quedarán nuestros niños en las ciudades fortificadas, para no ser molestados por los habitantes del país.
18 We will not return to our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.
No nos volveremos a nuestras casas hasta que cada uno de los hijos de Israel posea su herencia.
19 For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward."
Porque no queremos tener herencia con ellos al otro lado del Jordán, ya que tenemos nuestra herencia en esta ribera del Jordán, al oriente”.
20 Moses said to them, "If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Jehovah to the war,
Entonces les dijo Moisés: “Si hacéis esto, si os armáis para la guerra delante de Yahvé,
21 and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before Jehovah, until he has driven out his enemies from before him,
y todos vuestros armados pasan el Jordán a los ojos de Yahvé hasta que Él haya echado a sus enemigos delante de su rostro,
22 and the land is subdued before Jehovah; then afterward you shall return, and be guiltless towards Jehovah, and towards Israel; and this land shall be to you for a possession before Jehovah.
y no os volvéis antes que Él se haya sometido el país, entonces no tendréis culpa ante Yahvé ni ante Israel; y será esta tierra posesión vuestra delante de Yahvé.
23 "But if you will not do so, look, you have sinned against Jehovah; and be sure your sin will find you out.
Pero si no hacéis así, he aquí que pecáis contra Yahvé; y sabed que vuestro pecado recaerá sobre vosotros.
24 Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth."
Edificaos, pues, ciudades para vuestros niños, y apriscos para vuestros rebaños, y haced lo que habéis prometido.”
25 The people of Gad and the people of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, "Your servants will do as my lord commands.
Respondieron los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén a Moisés, diciendo: “Tus siervos obrarán conforme a la orden de mi señor.
26 Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;
Nuestros niños, nuestras mujeres, nuestro ganado y todas nuestras bestias quedarán aquí en las ciudades de Galaad;
27 but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before Jehovah to battle, as my lord says."
mas tus siervos, todos los armados para la guerra, marcharán delante de Yahvé para combatir según la orden de mi señor.”
28 So Moses commanded concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the ancestral houses of the tribes of the children of Israel.
Con esto Moisés dio orden respecto de ellos al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué, hijo de Nun, y a los jefes de las casas paternas de las tribus de los hijos de Israel;
29 Moses said to them, "If the people of Gad and the people of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man who is armed to battle before Jehovah, and the land is subdued before you; then you are to give them the land of Gilead for a possession.
y les dijo Moisés: “Si los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén, armados todos para la guerra, pasan con vosotros el Jordán delante de Yahvé, dadles, una vez sojuzgada la tierra delante de vosotros, la tierra de Galaad en posesión.
30 But if they will not pass over with you armed to battle before Jehovah, then you are to bring over their children and their wives and their flocks before you into the land of Canaan, and they are to have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."
Pero si no pasan armados con vosotros, será su posesión en medio de vosotros en la tierra de Canaán.”
31 The people of Gad and the people of Reuben answered, saying, "As Jehovah has said to your servants, so will we do.
Respondieron los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén, diciendo: “Así como ha dicho Yahvé respecto de tus siervos, así haremos.
32 We will pass over armed before Jehovah into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan."
Pasaremos armados delante de Yahvé a la tierra de Canaán, y quedará para nosotros la posesión de nuestra herencia en este lado del Jordán”.
33 Moses gave to them, even to the people of Gad, and to the people of Reuben, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, according to its cities and borders, even the cities of the surrounding land.
Moisés dio, pues, a los hijos de Gad, y a los hijos de Rubén, y a la media tribu de Manasés, hijo de José, el reino de Sehón, rey de los amorreos, y el reino de Og, rey de Basan, el país con sus ciudades y territorios, las ciudades del país a la redonda.
34 The people of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
Y los hijos de Gad edificaron a Dibón, Atarot, Aroer,
35 and Atrothshophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah,
Atrot-Sofán, Jaser, Jogbehá,
36 and Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran: fortified cities, and folds for sheep.
Betnimrá y Betharán, ciudades fortificadas y apriscos para los rebaños.
37 The people of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,
Los hijos de Rubén edificaron a Hesbón, Elealé, Kiryataim,
38 and Nebo, and Baal Meon, (their names being changed), and Sibmah: and they gave other names to the cities which they built.
Nebó y Baalmeón mudándoles los nombres, y Sibmá; y pusieron (nuevos) nombres a las ciudades que reedificaron.
39 The descendants of Makir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it.
Los hijos de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, marcharon a la región de Galaad, la tomaron, y arrojaron a los amorreos que habitaban en ella.
40 Moses gave Gilead to Makir the son of Manasseh; and he lived in it.
Moisés dio Galaad a Maquir, hijo de Manasés, que allí se estableció.
41 Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its towns, and called them Havvoth Jair.
Jaír, hijo de Manasés, fue y tomó sus aldeas que llamó Havot-Jaír.
42 Nobah went and took Kenath, and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.
Nobá fue y ocupó a Canat con sus aldeas, y la llamó Nobá, según su mismo nombre.
