Matthew 6
1 "Be careful that you do not do your righteousness before people, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
Ficai atentos para que não façais vossa boa ação diante das pessoas a fim de que sejais vistos por elas; de outra maneira não tereis recompensa de vosso Pai que está nos céus.
2 Therefore when you practice charitable giving, do not sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from people. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.
Portanto, quando fizeres esmola, não faças tocar trombeta diante de ti, como fazem os hipócritas nas sinagogas e nas ruas, para serem honrados pelas pessoas; em verdade vos digo que já receberam sua recompensa.
3 But when you practice charitable giving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand does,
Mas quando tu fizeres esmola, não saiba tua mão esquerda o que faz a tua direita;
4 so that your charitable giving may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Para que a tua esmola seja em segredo, e teu Pai, que vê em segredo, ele te recompensará.
5 "And when you pray, you are not to be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
E quando orardes, não sejais como os hipócritas; porque eles amam orar em pé nas sinagogas e nas esquinas das ruas para serem vistos pelas pessoas. Em verdade vos digo que já receberam sua recompensa.
6 But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Porém tu, quando orares, entra em teu quarto, fecha tua porta, e ora a teu Pai, que está em segredo; e teu Pai, que vê em segredo, ele te recompensará.
7 And in praying, do not use vain repetitions, as the unbelievers do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
E quando orardes, não façais repetições inúteis como os gentios, que pensam que por muito falarem serão ouvidos.
8 Therefore do not be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him.
Não sejais, pois, semelhantes a eles; porque vosso Pai sabe o que necessitais, antes que vós peçais a ele.
9 Therefore, you should pray this way: 'Our Father in heaven, holy be your name.
Vós, portanto, orareis assim: Pai nosso, que estás nos céus, santificado seja o teu nome.
10 Let your kingdom come. Let your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Venha o teu Reino. Seja feita a tua vontade, tanto na terra, assim como no céu.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
O pão nosso de cada dia nos dá hoje.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
E perdoa-nos nossas dívidas, assim como nós também perdoamos aos nossos devedores.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'
E não nos conduzas à tentação, mas livra-nos do mal.
14 "For if you forgive people their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Porque se perdoardes às pessoas suas ofensas, vosso Pai celestial também vos perdoará;
15 But if you do not forgive people, neither will your Father forgive your wrongdoing.
Mas se não perdoardes às pessoas, também vosso Pai não vos perdoará vossas ofensas.
16 "Moreover when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by people to be fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.
E quando jejuardes, não vos mostreis tristonhos, como os hipócritas; porque eles desfiguram seus rostos, para parecerem aos outros que jejuam. Em verdade vos digo que eles já receberam sua recompensa.
17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;
Porém tu, quando jejuares, unge a tua cabeça e lava o teu rosto,
18 so that you are not seen by people to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
Para não pareceres às pessoas que jejuas, mas sim ao teu Pai, que está em segredo; e teu Pai, que vê em segredo, ele te recompensará.
19 "Do not store up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and decay destroy, and where thieves break through and steal;
Não ajunteis para vós tesouros na terra, onde e a traça e a ferrugem gastam, e onde os ladrões invadem e roubam;
20 but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal;
Mas ajuntai para vós tesouros no céu, onde nem a traça nem a ferrugem gastam, e onde os ladrões não invadem nem roubam.
21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Porque onde estiver o teu tesouro, ali estará também o teu coração.
22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.
A lâmpada do corpo é o olho; portanto, se o teu olho for puro, todo o teu corpo será cheio de luz.
23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness.
Porém se o teu olho for maligno, todo o teu corpo será cheio de trevas. Assim, se a luz que há em ti são trevas, como são grandes [essas] trevas!
24 "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Mammon.
Ninguém pode servir a dois senhores; pois ou odiará um e amará outro; ou se apegará a um, e desprezará o outro. Não podeis servir a Deus e às riquezas.
25 Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Por isso vos digo: não andeis ansiosos por vossa vida, sobre o que haveis de comer, ou que haveis de beber; nem por vosso corpo, sobre com que vos haveis de vestir. Não é a vida mais que o alimento, e o corpo [mais] que a roupa?
26 See the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of much more value than they?
Olhai para as aves do céu, que não semeiam, nem ceifam, nem ajuntam em celeiros; e contudo vosso Pai celestial as alimenta. Não sois vós muito mais importantes que elas?
27 "And which of you, by being anxious, can add one cubit to his height?
E qual de vós poderá, por sua ansiedade, acrescentar um côvado à sua estatura?
28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They do not toil, neither do they spin,
E por que andais ansiosos pela roupa? Prestai atenção aos lírios do campo, como crescem; eles nem trabalham nem fiam.
29 yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.
Mas eu vos digo que nem mesmo Salomão, em toda a sua glória, se vestiu como um deles.
30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith?
Se Deus veste desta maneira a erva do campo, que hoje existe, e amanhã é lançada no forno, não [vestirá] ele muito mais a vós, que tendes pouca fé?
31 "Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?'
Não andeis, pois, ansiosos, dizendo: “Que comeremos?” Ou “Que beberemos?” Ou “Com que nos vestiremos?”
32 For the unbelievers seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
Porque os gentios buscam todas estas coisas, e vosso Pai celestial sabe que necessitais destas coisas, todas elas.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Mas buscai primeiramente o [seu] Reino e a sua justiça, e todas estas coisas vos serão acrescentadas.
34 Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Não andeis, pois, ansiosos pelo dia de amanhã, porque o amanhã cuidará de si mesmo. Basta a cada dia o seu mal.
