Matthew 22
1 Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,
Jézus ismét példázatokban beszélt nekik:
2 "The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,
„Hasonlatos a mennyek országa a királyhoz, aki a fiának menyegzőt készített.
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.
Elküldte szolgáit, hogy meghívják azokat, akik a menyegzőre hivatalosak voltak; de nem akartak eljönni.
4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Look, I have made ready my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast."'
Ismét küldött másik szolgákat, ezt mondva: Mondjátok meg a hivatalosoknak: Íme, ebédemet elkészítettem, ökreim és hizlalt állataim le vannak vágva, és kész minden: gyertek a menyegzőre.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,
De azok nem törődtek vele, elmentek: az egyik a szántóföldjére, a másik a kereskedésébe.
6 and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.
A többiek pedig megfogták szolgáit, bántalmazták, és megölték őket.
7 The king was enraged, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Meghallotta ezt a király, megharagudott, és elküldte hadait, és ezeket a gyilkosokat megölette, és városaikat fölégette.
8 "Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren't worthy.
Akkor ezt mondta szolgáinak: A menyegző ugyan készen van, de a hivatalosok nem voltak méltók.
9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.'
Menjetek azért a keresztutakra, és akit csak találtok, hívjátok be a menyegzőre.
10 And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all they found, both bad and good, and the wedding was filled with those reclining.
És kimentek a szolgák az utakra, begyűjtöttek mindenkit, akiket csak találtak, jókat és gonoszakat egyaránt. És megtelt a menyegző vendégekkel.
11 But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who did not have on wedding clothing,
Amikor bement a király, hogy megtekintse a vendégeket, látott ott egy embert, akinek nem volt menyegzői ruhája,
12 and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?' He was speechless.
és ezt mondta neki: Barátom, hogyan jöttél ide, holott nincsen menyegzői ruhád? Az pedig hallgatott.
13 Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.'
Akkor mondta a király a szolgáknak: Kötözzétek meg lábait és kezeit, vigyétek és vessétek őt a külső sötétségre; ott lesz sírás és fogcsikorgatás.
14 For many are called, but few chosen."
Mert sokan vannak a hivatalosak, de kevesen a választottak.“
15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
Ekkor a farizeusok elmentek, és tanácsot tartottak, hogy szóval csalják tőrbe.
16 They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you are not partial to anyone.
Elküldték hozzá tanítványaikat a Heródes-pártiakkal, akik ezt mondták: „Mester, tudjuk, hogy igaz vagy, és az Isten útját igazán tanítod, és nem törődsz senkivel, mert nem emberek személyére nézel.
17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"
Mondd meg nekünk tehát, mit gondolsz: szabad-e a császárnak adót fizetnünk vagy nem?“
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
Jézus pedig ismerve álnokságukat, ezt mondta: „Mit kísértetek engem, képmutatók?
19 Show me the tax money." They brought to him a denarius.
Mutassátok nekem az adópénzt.“Azok pedig odavittek neki egy dénárt.
20 He asked them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"
Ekkor ezt kérdezte tőlük: „Kié ez a kép és ez a felírás?“
21 They said to him, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
Azt felelték neki: „A császáré.“Akkor ezt mondta nekik: „Adjátok meg tehát a császárnak, ami a császáré, és Istennek, ami Istené.“
22 When they heard it, they were astonished, and left him, and went away.
Ezt hallva elcsodálkoztak, otthagyták őt, és elmentek.
23 On that day Sadducees came to him, the ones saying that there is no resurrection. And they asked him,
Ugyanazon a napon mentek hozzá a szadduceusok, akik a feltámadást tagadják, és megkérdezték őt:
24 saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies, having no children, his brother is to marry his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.'
„Mester, Mózes azt mondta: »ha valaki gyermek nélkül hal meg, annak testvére vegye el feleségét, és támasszon utódot testvérének.«
25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother.
Volt pedig nálunk hét testvér: és az első feleséget vett, meghalt, és mivelhogy nem volt gyermeke, feleségét a testvérére hagyta.
26 In like manner the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
Hasonlóképpen a második is, a harmadik is, mind a hetedikig.
27 After them all, the woman died.
Legutoljára pedig az asszony is meghalt.
28 In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her."
A feltámadáskor azért a hét közül melyiké lesz az asszony? Mert mindegyiké volt.“
29 But Jesus answered them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
Jézus ezt felelte nekik: „Tévelyegtek, mivel nem ismeritek sem az írásokat, sem az Istennek hatalmát.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.
Mert a feltámadáskor sem nem házasodnak, sem férjhez nem mennek, hanem olyanok lesznek, mint az Isten angyalai a mennyben.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
A halottak feltámadása felől pedig nem olvastátok-e, amit az Isten mondott nektek, amikor így szólt:
32 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."
»Én vagyok Ábrahám Istene, Izsák Istene és Jákób Istene«? Az Isten nem holtaknak, hanem élőknek Istene.“
33 When the crowds heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
És a sokaság ezt hallva, csodálkozott az ő tudományán.
34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
A farizeusok pedig amikor meghallották, hogy a szadduceusokat elnémította, egybegyűltek,
35 One of them, a Law scholar, asked him a question, testing him.
és megkérdezte őt közülük az egyik törvénytudó, hogy kísértse:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?"
„Mester, melyik a nagy parancsolat a törvényben?“
37 He said to him, "'You are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
Jézus pedig ezt mondta neki: „»Szeresd az Urat, a te Istenedet teljes szívedből, teljes lelkedből és teljes elmédből.«
38 This is the great and first commandment.
Ez az első és nagy parancsolat.
39 A second likewise is this, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.'
A második pedig hasonlatos ehhez: »Szeresd felebarátodat, mint magadat.«
40 The whole Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments."
E két parancsolattól függ az egész törvény és a próféták.“
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,
Mikor a farizeusok egybegyülekeztek, megkérdezte őket Jézus:
42 saying, "What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "Of David."
„Hogyan vélekedtek ti a Krisztus felől? Kinek a fia?“Ezt mondták neki: „A Dávidé.“
43 He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
Aztán megkérdezte tőlük: „Hogyan hívhatja tehát őt Dávid lélekben Urának, amikor ezt mondja:
44 'The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet'?
»Mondta az Úr az én Uramnak: Ülj az én jobb kezem felől, amíg lábaid alá nem vetem ellenségeidet zsámolyul.«
45 "If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?"
Ha tehát Dávid »Urának« hívja őt, hogyan lehet akkor a Fia?“
46 No one was able to answer him a word, neither did anyone dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.
És senki nem tudott neki felelni egyetlen szót sem, és megkérdezni sem merte őt többé senki ettől a naptól fogva.
