Matthew 22
1 Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,
ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲩ⳿ⲱ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲟⲗⲏ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ.
2 "The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,
ⲃ̅⳿ⲥ⳿ⲟⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲫⲏⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲉⲁϥ⳿⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϩⲟⲡ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲓ.
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.
ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲃⲓⲁⲓⲕ ⳿ⲉⲙⲟⲩϯ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲑⲁϩⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓϩⲟⲡ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲓ.
4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Look, I have made ready my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast."'
ⲇ̅ⲡⲁⲗⲓⲛ ⲟⲛ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲕⲉ⳿ⲉⲃⲓⲁⲓⲕ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁϫⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲑⲁϩⲉⲙ ϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲡⲁ⳿ⲁⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲛ ⲁⲓⲥⲉⲃⲧⲱⲧϥ ⲛⲁⲙⲁⲥⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϣⲁⲛⲉⲩϣ ⲥⲉϣⲁⲧ ⲥⲉⲥⲉⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲁⲙⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓϩⲟⲡ.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,
ⲉ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲉⲣ⳿ⲁⲙⲉⲗⲉⲥ ⲁⲩϣⲉⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲙⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉϥⲓⲟϩⲓ ⲕⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉϥⲓⲉⲃϣⲱⲧ.
6 and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.
ⲋ̅⳿ⲡⲥⲉⲡⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩ⳿ⲁⲙⲟⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲃⲓⲁⲓⲕ ⲁⲩϣⲟϣⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϧⲟⲑⲃⲟⲩ.
7 The king was enraged, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
ⲍ̅ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⲁϥϫⲱⲛⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⳿ⲙⲛⲉϥ⳿ⲥⲧⲣⲁⲧⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲉϥϧⲱⲧⲉⲃ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲟⲩⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲁϥⲣⲟⲕϩⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲭⲣⲱⲙ.
8 "Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren't worthy.
ⲏ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲃⲓⲁⲕ ϫⲉ ⲡⲓϩⲟⲡ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲉϥⲥⲉⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲑⲁϩⲉⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲩⲉⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ.
9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.'
ⲑ̅ⲙⲁϣⲉⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲉⲛⲓⲙⲁⲛⲙⲟϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲙⲱⲓⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲏ⳿ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϫⲉⲙⲟⲩ ⲑⲁϩⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲓϩⲟⲡ.
10 And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all they found, both bad and good, and the wedding was filled with those reclining.
ⲓ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲉⲃⲓⲁⲓⲕ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉ ⲛⲓⲙⲱⲓⲧ ⲁⲩⲑⲱⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲩϫⲉⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲙⲟϩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓϩⲟⲡ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲣⲱⲧⲉⲃ.
11 But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who did not have on wedding clothing,
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅⳿ⲉⲧⲁϥ⳿ⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲛⲏⲉⲑⲣⲱⲧⲉⲃ ⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲧϩⲉⲃⲥⲱ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓϩⲟⲡ ⲧⲟⲓ ϩⲓⲱⲧϥ ⲁⲛ.
12 and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?' He was speechless.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⲡⲱⲥ ⲁⲕ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲙⲛⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲧϩⲉⲃⲥⲱ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓϩⲟⲡ ⲧⲟⲓ ϩⲓⲱⲧⲕ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲁ ⲣⲱϥ ⲑⲱⲙ.
13 Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.'
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲕⲱⲛ ϫⲉ ⲥⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲙⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧϥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲣⲁⲧϥ ϩⲓⲧϥ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲭⲁⲕⲓ ⲉⲧⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲣⲓⲙⲓ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲥⲑⲉⲣⲧⲉⲣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲛⲁϫϩⲓ.
14 For many are called, but few chosen."
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲩⲑⲁϩⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲓⲥⲱⲧⲡ.
15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁⲩϣⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲪⲁⲣⲓⲥⲉⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲟϭⲛⲓ ϧⲁⲣⲟϥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉϫⲟⲣϫϥ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲁϫⲓ.
16 They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you are not partial to anyone.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲎ̇ⲣⲱⲇⲓⲁⲛⲟⲥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲫⲣⲉϥϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓⲙⲱⲓⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲫϯ ⳿ⲕϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲥⲉⲣⲙⲉⲗⲓⲛ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲁⲛ ϧⲁ⳿ⲧϩⲏ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲕϫⲟⲩϣⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉϩⲟ ⳿ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲓ.
17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅⳿ⲁϫⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲕⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲥϣⲉ ⳿ⲉϯϩⲱϯ ⲙ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ϣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ.
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅⳿ⲉⲧⲁϥ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⳿ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲥⲁⲙⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛϭⲱⲛⲧ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ⲛⲓϣⲟⲃⲓ.
19 Show me the tax money." They brought to him a denarius.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲙⲁⲧⲁⲙⲟⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲫⲛⲟⲙⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲕⲏⲛⲥⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲁⲑⲉⲣⲓ.
20 He asked them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"
ⲕ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲓϩⲓⲕⲱⲛ ⲑⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲁⲓ⳿ⲥϧⲁⲓ.
21 They said to him, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲁ ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲛⲉ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲙⲁ ⲛⲁ ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲙⲁ ⲛⲁ Ⲫϯ ⳿ⲙⲪϯ.
22 When they heard it, they were astonished, and left him, and went away.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲉⲣ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩⲭⲁϥ ⲁⲩϣⲉⲛⲱⲟⲩ.
23 On that day Sadducees came to him, the ones saying that there is no resurrection. And they asked him,
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩ⳿ⲓ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ϩⲁⲛⲤⲁⲇⲇⲟⲩⲕⲉⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⳿⳿ⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϣⲉⲛϥ.
24 saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies, having no children, his brother is to marry his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.'
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲫⲣⲉϥϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⳿ⲁ Ⲙⲱ⳿ⲩⲥⲏⲥ ϫⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⳿ⲁⲣⲉϣⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛⲧⲉϥ ϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ϭⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥ ⲟⲩ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲍ̅ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲥⲟⲛ ϧⲁⲧⲟⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓϩⲟⲩⲓⲧ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁϥϭⲓ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛⲧⲉϥ ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁϥⲭⲁ ⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ.
26 In like manner the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲟⲛ ⲡⲓⲙⲁϩ ⲃ̅ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲙⲁϩ ⲅ̅ ϣⲁ ⲡⲓⲙⲁϩ ⲍ̅.
27 After them all, the woman died.
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡϧⲁ⳿ⲉ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ϯⲕⲉ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ.
28 In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her."
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ϧⲉⲛ ϯ⳿ⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲥⲛⲁⲉⲣ ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲙ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ ⲍ̅ ⲁⲩϭⲓⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ.
29 But Jesus answered them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲁϥ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲩ⳿ⲱ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲣⲉⲙ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓ⳿ⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ϯϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲫϯ.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.
ⲗ̅ϧⲉⲛ ϯ⳿ⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲩϭⲓ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲩϭⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁⲩⲛⲁⲉⲣ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲫϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲫⲉ.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ϯ⳿ⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲣⲉϥⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲱϣ ⳿ⲙⲫⲏ⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲩϫⲟϥ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ Ⲫϯ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ.
32 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ Ⲫϯ ⳿ⲛⲀⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲫϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ Ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲫϯ ⳿ⲛⲒⲁⲕⲱⲃ Ⲫϯ ⲫⲁ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲫⲁ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲟⲛϧ ⲡⲉ.
33 When the crowds heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙⲏϣ ⲁⲩⲉⲣ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ.
34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲛⲓⲪⲁⲣⲓⲥⲉⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ϫⲉ ⲁϥⲑⲱⲙ ⳿ⲛⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲤⲁⲇⲇⲟⲩⲕⲉⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲑⲱⲟⲩϯ ⲉⲩⲙⲁ.
35 One of them, a Law scholar, asked him a question, testing him.
ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϣⲉⲛϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲛⲟⲙⲓⲕⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥϭⲱⲛⲧ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?"
ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ϫⲉ ⳿ⲫⲣⲉϥϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲁϣ ⲧⲉ ϯⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ.
37 He said to him, "'You are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
ⲗ̅ⲍ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕ⳿ⲉⲙⲉⲛⲣⲉ Ⲡ⳪ ⲡⲉⲕⲛⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲕϩⲏⲧ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲧⲉⲕⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲕⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ.
38 This is the great and first commandment.
ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲑⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ϯⲛⲓϣϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛϩⲟⲩⲓϯ ⳿ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ.
39 A second likewise is this, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.'
ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ϯⲙⲁϩ ⲃ̅ϯ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧ⳿ⲟⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲑⲁⲓ ⲉⲕ⳿ⲉⲙⲉⲛⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲕ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲣⲏϯ.
40 The whole Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments."
ⲙ̅ϧⲉⲛ ⲧⲁⲓⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲃ̅ϯ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲁⲩ⳿ⲁϣⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ.
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,
ⲙ̅ⲁ̅⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲑⲱⲟⲩϯ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲪⲁⲣⲓⲥⲉⲟⲥ ⲁϥϣⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅.
42 saying, "What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "Of David."
ⲙ̅ⲃ̅ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ϫⲉ Ⲡ̇ϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ Ⲡ̇ϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲆⲁⲩⲓⲇ ⲡⲉ.
43 He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
ⲙ̅ⲅ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ϫⲉ ⲡⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ Ⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⳿ϥⲙⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ Ⲡⲁ⳪ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ.
44 'The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet'?
ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ϫⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲉ Ⲡ⳪ ⳿ⲙⲠⲁ⳪̅ ϫⲉ ϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ⲥⲁⲧⲟⲩⲓⲛⲁⲙ ϣⲁϯⲭⲱ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲕϫⲁϫⲓ ⲥⲁⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲕϭⲁⲗⲁⲩϫ.
45 "If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?"
ⲙ̅ⲉ̅ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ Ⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⳿ϥⲙⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ Ⲡⲁ⳪ ⲡⲱⲥ ⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲡⲉ.
46 No one was able to answer him a word, neither did anyone dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.
