Mark 5
1 And they came to the other side of the sea, into the territory of the Gerasenes.
Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸ πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν ⸀Γερασηνῶν
2 And when he had come out of the boat, immediately a man with an unclean spirit met him out of the tombs.
καὶ ⸂ἐξελθόντος αὐτοῦ ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου ⸂εὐθὺς ὑπήντησεν αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ,
3 He lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him any more, not even with a chain.
ὃς τὴν κατοίκησιν εἶχεν ἐν τοῖς μνήμασιν, καὶ ⸂οὐδὲ ἁλύσει οὐκέτι οὐδεὶς ἐδύνατο αὐτὸν δῆσαι
4 For he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him, and the fetters broken in pieces. No one had the strength to tame him.
διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν πολλάκις πέδαις καὶ ἁλύσεσι δεδέσθαι καὶ διεσπάσθαι ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ τὰς ἁλύσεις καὶ τὰς πέδας συντετρῖφθαι, καὶ οὐδεὶς ⸂ἴσχυεν αὐτὸν δαμάσαι·
5 And always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones.
καὶ διὰ παντὸς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ἐν τοῖς ⸂μνήμασιν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν ἦν κράζων καὶ κατακόπτων ἑαυτὸν λίθοις.
6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed down to him,
⸂καὶ ἰδὼν τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔδραμεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν ⸀αὐτόν
7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said, "What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me."
καὶ κράξας φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ⸀λέγει Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί, Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ὑψίστου; ὁρκίζω σε τὸν θεόν, μή με βασανίσῃς.
8 For he had been saying to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit."
ἔλεγεν γὰρ αὐτῷ· Ἔξελθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον ἐκ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.
9 And then he asked him, "What is your name?" And he replied, "My name is Legion, for we are many."
καὶ ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν· Τί ⸂ὄνομά σοι; καὶ ⸂λέγει αὐτῷ· ⸀Λεγιὼνὄνομά μοι, ὅτι πολλοί ἐσμεν·
10 And he pleaded with Jesus repeatedly not to send them away out of the region.
καὶ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν πολλὰ ἵνα μὴ ⸀αὐτὰἀποστείλῃ ἔξω τῆς χώρας.
11 Now on the mountainside there was a great herd of pigs feeding.
ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ πρὸς τῷ ὄρει ἀγέλη χοίρων μεγάλη βοσκομένη·
12 And they begged him, saying, "Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them."
καὶ παρεκάλεσαν ⸀αὐτὸνλέγοντες· Πέμψον ἡμᾶς εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, ἵνα εἰς αὐτοὺς εἰσέλθωμεν.
13 And he gave them permission. The unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs; and the herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea.
καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν ⸀αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐξελθόντα τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα εἰσῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, καὶ ὥρμησεν ἡ ἀγέλη κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, ⸀ὡςδισχίλιοι, καὶ ἐπνίγοντο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ.
14 And those who fed them fled, and told it in the city and in the country. And the people went to see what it was that had happened.
⸂Καὶ οἱ βόσκοντες ⸀αὐτοὺςἔφυγον καὶ ⸀ἀπήγγειλανεἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀγρούς· καὶ ⸀ἦλθονἰδεῖν τί ἐστιν τὸ γεγονός.
15 And they came to Jesus, and saw him who had been possessed by demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind, even him who had the legion; and they were afraid.
καὶ ἔρχονται πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ θεωροῦσιν τὸν δαιμονιζόμενον ⸀καθήμενονἱματισμένον καὶ σωφρονοῦντα, τὸν ἐσχηκότα τὸν ⸀λεγιῶνα καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν.
16 And those who saw it declared to them how it happened to him who was possessed by demons, and about the pigs.
⸂καὶ διηγήσαντο αὐτοῖς οἱ ἰδόντες πῶς ἐγένετο τῷ δαιμονιζομένῳ καὶ περὶ τῶν χοίρων.
17 And then they began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
καὶ ἤρξαντο παρακαλεῖν αὐτὸν ἀπελθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν.
18 As he was entering into the boat, he who had been possessed by demons pleaded with him that he might be with him.
καὶ ⸀ἐμβαίνοντοςαὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον παρεκάλει αὐτὸν ὁ δαιμονισθεὶς ἵνα ⸂μετʼ αὐτοῦ ᾖ.
19 However, Jesus did not allow him, but said to him, "Go to your house, to your own, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you."
⸀καὶοὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτόν, ἀλλὰ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου πρὸς τοὺς σούς, καὶ ⸀ἀπάγγειλοναὐτοῖς ὅσα ⸂ὁ κύριός σοι πεποίηκεν καὶ ἠλέησέν σε.
20 So he went his way, and began to proclaim in Decapolis how Jesus had done great things for him, and everyone was amazed.
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ πάντες ἐθαύμαζον.
21 And when Jesus had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a large crowd was gathered to him; and he was by the sea.
Καὶ διαπεράσαντος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ πάλιν εἰς τὸ πέραν συνήχθη ὄχλος πολὺς ἐπʼ αὐτόν, καὶ ἦν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν.
22 One of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, came; and seeing him, he fell at his feet,
⸀καὶἔρχεται εἷς τῶν ἀρχισυναγώγων, ὀνόματι Ἰάϊρος, καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὸν πίπτει πρὸς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ
23 and pleaded with him repeatedly, saying, "My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, that she may be made healthy, and live."
καὶ ⸀παρακαλεῖαὐτὸν πολλὰ λέγων ὅτι Τὸ θυγάτριόν μου ἐσχάτως ἔχει, ἵνα ἐλθὼν ἐπιθῇς ⸂τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῇ ⸀ἵνασωθῇ καὶ ⸀ζήσῃ
24 And he went with him, and a large crowd followed him, and they pressed upon him on all sides.
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν μετʼ αὐτοῦ. Καὶ ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς, καὶ συνέθλιβον αὐτόν.
25 Now a woman, who had an issue of blood for twelve years,
καὶ ⸀γυνὴοὖσα ἐν ῥύσει αἵματος ⸂δώδεκα ἔτη
26 and had suffered many things by many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better, but rather grew worse,
καὶ πολλὰ παθοῦσα ὑπὸ πολλῶν ἰατρῶν καὶ δαπανήσασα τὰ παρʼ αὐτῆς πάντα καὶ μηδὲν ὠφεληθεῖσα ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εἰς τὸ χεῖρον ἐλθοῦσα,
27 having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd, and touched his clothes.
⸀ἀκούσασαπερὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ, ἐλθοῦσα ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ὄπισθεν ἥψατο τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ·
28 For she said, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well."
ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὅτι ⸂Ἐὰν ἅψωμαι κἂν τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ σωθήσομαι.
29 And immediately the flow of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
καὶ ⸀εὐθὺςἐξηράνθη ἡ πηγὴ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτῆς, καὶ ἔγνω τῷ σώματι ὅτι ἴαται ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγος.
30 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd, and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"
καὶ ⸀εὐθὺςὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐπιγνοὺς ἐν ἑαυτῷ τὴν ἐξ αὐτοῦ δύναμιν ἐξελθοῦσαν ἐπιστραφεὶς ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ἔλεγεν· Τίς μου ἥψατο τῶν ἱματίων;
31 And his disciples said to him, "You see the crowd pressing against you, and you say, 'Who touched me?'"
καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ· Βλέπεις τὸν ὄχλον συνθλίβοντά σε, καὶ λέγεις· Τίς μου ἥψατο;
32 He looked around to see her who had done this thing.
καὶ περιεβλέπετο ἰδεῖν τὴν τοῦτο ποιήσασαν.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him the whole truth.
ἡ δὲ γυνὴ φοβηθεῖσα καὶ τρέμουσα, εἰδυῖα ὃ γέγονεν ⸀αὐτῇ ἦλθεν καὶ προσέπεσεν αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀλήθειαν.
34 And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease."
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· ⸀Θυγάτηρ ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε· ὕπαγε εἰς εἰρήνην, καὶ ἴσθι ὑγιὴς ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγός σου.
35 While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler's house saying, "Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?"
Ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἔρχονται ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου λέγοντες ὅτι Ἡ θυγάτηρ σου ἀπέθανεν· τί ἔτι σκύλλεις τὸν διδάσκαλον;
36 But Jesus, overhearing the message spoken, said to the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid, only believe."
ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ⸀παρακούσαςτὸν λόγον λαλούμενον λέγει τῷ ἀρχισυναγώγῳ· Μὴ φοβοῦ, μόνον πίστευε.
37 And he allowed no one to follow him, except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν οὐδένα ⸂μετʼ αὐτοῦ συνακολουθῆσαι εἰ μὴ ⸀τὸνΠέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν Ἰακώβου.
38 And they came to the synagogue ruler's house, and he saw an uproar, weeping, and great wailing.
καὶ ⸀ἔρχονταιεἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου, καὶθεωρεῖ θόρυβον ⸀καὶ κλαίοντας καὶ ἀλαλάζοντας πολλά,
39 And when he had entered in, he said to them, "Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep."
καὶ εἰσελθὼν λέγει αὐτοῖς· Τί θορυβεῖσθε καὶ κλαίετε; τὸ παιδίον οὐκ ἀπέθανεν ἀλλὰ καθεύδει.
40 And they ridiculed him. But he, having put them all out, took the father of the child, her mother, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was.
καὶ κατεγέλων αὐτοῦ. ⸀αὐτὸςδὲ ἐκβαλὼν πάντας παραλαμβάνει τὸν πατέρα τοῦ παιδίου καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ τοὺς μετʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ εἰσπορεύεται ὅπου ἦν τὸ ⸀παιδίον
41 And taking the child by the hand, he said to her, "Talitha koum," which translated means, "Little girl, I tell you, get up."
καὶ κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ παιδίου λέγει αὐτῇ· Ταλιθα ⸀κουμ ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον· Τὸ κοράσιον, σοὶ λέγω, ⸀ἔγειρε
42 And immediately the girl rose up and walked, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were overcome with amazement.
καὶ ⸀εὐθὺςἀνέστη τὸ κοράσιον καὶ περιεπάτει, ἦν γὰρ ἐτῶν δώδεκα. καὶ ἐξέστησαν ⸁εὐθὺςἐκστάσει μεγάλῃ.
43 And he strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and commanded that something should be given to her to eat.
καὶ διεστείλατο αὐτοῖς πολλὰ ἵνα μηδεὶς γνοῖ τοῦτο, καὶ εἶπεν δοθῆναι αὐτῇ φαγεῖν.
