John 20
1 Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went early, while it was still dark, to the tomb, and saw the stone taken away from the tomb.
Le premier jour de la semaine, Marie Madeleine se rendit au sépulcre, de grand matin, lorsqu'il faisait encore obscur: elle vit que la pierre en était ôtée.
2 Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have put him."
Elle courut donc trouver Simon Pierre, ainsi que l'autre disciple que Jésus aimait, et leur dit: «On a enlevé du sépulcre le Seigneur, et nous ne savons où on l’a mis.»
3 Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went toward the tomb.
Pierre sortit donc, ainsi que l'autre disciple, et ils se rendirent au sépulcre.
4 They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter, and came to the tomb first.
Ils couraient tous deux; mais l'autre disciple courut plus vite que Pierre, et arriva le premier au sépulcre;
5 Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he did not enter in.
et s'étant baissé, il vit les bandes qui étaient à terre; cependant, il n'entra point.
6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,
Simon Pierre, qui le suivait, arriva à son tour; il entra dans le sépulcre, et vit les bandes qui étaient à terre,
7 and the cloth that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.
et le suaire, dont on avait couvert la tête de Jésus, non point avec les bandes, mais roulé à part dans un coin.
8 So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed.
Alors cet autre disciple qui était arrivé le premier au sépulcre, y entra aussi: il vit, et il crut;
9 For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
car ces disciples ne savaient pas encore que, d'après l'Écriture, le Messie devait ressusciter des morts.
10 So the disciples went away again to their own homes.
Là-dessus, ils s'en retournèrent chez eux.
11 But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb,
Cependant Marie se tenait près du sépulcre, en dehors, et pleurait. Tout en pleurant, elle se baissa pour regarder dans le sépulcre,
12 and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
et elle vit deux anges, vêtus de blanc, assis au lieu où avait reposé le corps de Jésus, l'un à la tête, l'autre aux pieds.
13 They told her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have put him."
Et ces anges lui dirent: «Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu?» Elle leur répondit: «C'est qu'on a enlevé mon Seigneur, et je ne sais où on l’a mis.»
14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, and did not know that it was Jesus.
En disant ces mots, elle se retourna et vit Jésus qui était là; mais elle ne savait pas que c'était Jésus.
15 Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him away."
Jésus lui dit: «Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu? Qui cherches-tu?» Marie, croyant que c'était le jardinier, lui dit: «Seigneur, si c'est toi qui l'as emporté, dis-moi où tu l'as mis, et j'irai le prendre.»
16 Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabboni." which is to say, "Teacher."
Jésus lui dit: «Marie!» Elle se retourna, et lui dit en hébreu: «Rabboni!» c’est-à-dire, Maître.
17 Jesus said to her, "Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
Jésus lui dit: «Ne me touche pas, car je ne suis pas encore monté vers le Père; mais va trouver mes frères, et dis-leur que je monte vers mon Père et votre Père, vers mon Dieu et votre Dieu.»
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples, "I have seen the lord," and that he had said these things to her.
Marie Madeleine alla annoncer aux disciples qu'elle avait vu le Seigneur, et qu'il lui avait dit ces choses.
19 When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the disciples were, for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be to you."
Dans la soirée de ce même jour, qui était le premier de la semaine, les portes du lieu où étaient les disciples étant fermées par crainte des Juifs, Jésus vint, et, se présentant au milieu d'eux, il leur dit: «La paix soit avec vous!»
20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad when they saw the Lord.
Ayant ainsi parlé, il leur montra ses mains et son côté. Les disciples furent remplis de joie en voyant le Seigneur.
21 Jesus therefore said to them again, "Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."
Jésus leur dit une seconde fois: «La paix soit avec vous! Comme le Père m'a envoyé, moi aussi je vous envoie.»
22 When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
Après ces paroles, il souffla sur eux, et leur dit: «Recevez le Saint-Esprit.
23 Whoever's sins you forgive, they are forgiven them. Whoever's sins you retain, they have been retained."
Ceux à qui vous pardonnerez leurs péchés, ces péchés leur seront pardonnés; ceux à qui vous retiendrez leurs péchés, ces péchés leur seront retenus.»
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
Thomas, l'un des Douze, celui qu'on appelle Didyme, n'était pas avec eux, lorsque Jésus vint.
25 The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
Les autres disciples lui dirent donc: «Nous avons vu le Seigneur.» Mais Thomas leur dit: «Si je ne vois dans ses mains la marque des clous, si je ne mets mon doigt à la place où étaient les clous, et si je ne mets ma main dans son côté, je ne le croirai point.»
26 After eight days again his disciples were inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, the doors being locked, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace be to you."
Huit jours après, les disciples se trouvaient de nouveau dans la maison, et Thomas était avec eux. Jésus vint, quoique les, portes fussent fermées, et, se présentant au milieu d'eux, leur dit: «La paix soit avec vous!»
27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and observe my hands. Reach out your hand, and put it into my side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing."
Il dit ensuite à Thomas: «Approche ici ton doigt, et regarde mes mains; approche aussi ta main et la mets dans mon côté; et ne sois pas incrédule, mais crois.»
28 Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God."
Thomas répondit et lui dit: «Mon Seigneur et mon Dieu!»
29 Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed."
Jésus lui dit: «Parce que tu m'as vu, tu as cru: heureux ceux qui croiront sans avoir vu!»
30 Therefore Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book;
Jésus a fait, en présence de ses disciples, beaucoup d'autres miracles qui ne sont pas consignés dans ce livre;
31 but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.
mais ceux-ci ont été rapportés, afin que vous croyiez que Jésus est le Messie, le Fils de Dieu, et qu'en croyant vous ayez la vie en son nom.
