Jeremiah 44
1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying,
A palavra que veio a Jeremias, acerca de todos os judeus, habitantes da terra do Egito, que habitavam em Migdol, e em Tahpanhes, e em Noph, e na terra de Pathros, dizendo:
2 "Thus says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: 'You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah; and look, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwells in them,
Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Vós vistes todo o mal que fiz vir sobre Jerusalém, e sobre todas as cidades de Judá: e eis que já elas são hoje um deserto, e ninguém habita nelas;
3 because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, to serve other gods, that they did not know, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers.
Por causa da sua maldade que fizeram, para me irarem, indo a queimar incenso para servir a deuses alheios, que nunca conheceram, nem eles, nem vós, nem vossos pais.
4 However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, 'Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate.'
E eu vos enviei todos os meus servos, os profetas, madrugando e enviando a dizer: Ora não façais esta coisa abominável que aborreço.
5 But they did not listen, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense to other gods.
Porém não deram ouvidos, nem inclinaram a sua orelha, para se converterem da sua maldade, para não queimarem incenso a deuses alheios.
6 Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is this day.'
Derramou-se pois a minha indignação e a minha ira, e acendeu-se nas cidades de Judá, e nas ruas de Jerusalém, e tornaram-se em deserto e em assolação, como hoje se vê.
7 Therefore now thus says Jehovah, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: 'Why do you commit great evil against your own souls, to cut off from yourselves man and woman, infant and nursing child out of the midst of Judah, to leave yourselves none remaining;
Agora, pois, assim diz o Senhor, Deus dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Porque fazeis vós tão grande mal contra as vossas almas, para vos desarreigardes a vós, ao homem e à mulher, à criança e ao que mama, do meio de Judá, para não vos deixardes resto algum;
8 in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to live; that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
Irando-me com as obras de vossas mãos, queimando incenso a deuses alheios na terra do Egito, aonde vós entrastes para lá peregrinardes: para que vos desarreigueis a vós mesmos, e para que sirvais de maldição, de opróbrio entre todas as nações da terra?
9 Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives which they committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?
Porventura já vos esquecestes das maldades de vossos pais, e das maldades dos reis de Judá, e das maldades de suas mulheres, e de vossas maldades, e das maldades de vossas mulheres, que fizeram na terra de Judá, e nas ruas de Jerusalém?
10 They are not humbled even to this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.'
Não estão contritos até ao dia de hoje: nem temeram, nem andaram na minha lei, nem nos meus estatutos, que pus diante de vós e diante de vossos pais.
11 Therefore thus says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: 'Look, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.
Portanto assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que eu ponho o meu rosto contra vós para mal, e para desarreigar a todo o Judá.
12 I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they shall all be consumed; in the land of Egypt shall they fall; they shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine; they shall die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine; and they shall be an object of horror, an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.
E tomarei o resto de Judá, que pôs o seu rosto para entrar na terra do Egito, para lá peregrinar e será todo consumido na terra do Egito; cairá à espada, e de fome morrerá; consumir-se-ão, desde o menor até ao maior; à espada e à fome morrerão: e servirão de execração, e de espanto, e de maldição, e de opróbrio
13 For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence;
Porque visitarei sobre os que habitam na terra do Egito, como visitei sobre Jerusalém, à espada, à fome e com peste.
14 so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, shall escape or be left, to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return save such as shall escape.'"
De maneira que não haverá quem escape, e fique, de resto, de Judá, que entrou na terra do Egito, para lá peregrinar: para tornar à terra de Judá, à qual eles levantam a sua alma, para tornarem, para habitarem lá; porém não tornarão senão os que escaparem
15 Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
Então responderam a Jeremias todos os homens que sabiam que suas mulheres queimavam incenso a deuses alheios, e todas as mulheres que estavam em pé em grande multidão, como também todo o povo que habitava na terra do Egito, em Pathros, dizendo:
16 "As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of Jehovah, we will not listen to you.
Quanto à palavra que falaste a nós em nome do Senhor, não te obedeceremos a ti
17 But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our leaders, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.
Antes certamente faremos toda a palavra que saiu da nossa boca, queimando incenso à rainha dos céus, e oferecendo-lhe libações, como nós e nossos pais, nossos reis e nossos príncipes, o temos feito, nas cidades de Judá, e nas ruas de Jerusalém; e tivemos então fartura de pão, e andavamos alegres, e não vimos mal algum.
18 But since we left off burning incense to the queen of heaven, and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine."
Mas desde que cessamos de queimar insenso à rainha dos céus, e de lhe oferecer libações, tivemos falta de tudo, e fomos consumidos pela espada e pela fome
19 And the women said, "When we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?"
E quando nós queimávamos incenso à rainha dos céus, e lhe oferecíamos libações, faziamos-lhe bolos lavrados, para assim a retratar, e lhe oferecíamos libações sem nossos maridos.
20 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men, and to the women, even to all the people who had given him an answer, saying,
Então disse Jeremias a todo o povo, aos homens e às mulheres, e a todo o povo que lhe havia dado esta resposta, dizendo:
21 "The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your leaders, and the people of the land. Did not Jehovah remember them, and did not it come into his mind,
Porventura não se lembrou o Senhor, e não lhe subiu ao coração o incenso que queimastes nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, vós e vossos pais, vossos reis e vossos príncipes, como também o povo da terra?
22 so that Jehovah could no longer bear because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed? Therefore your land has become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is this day.
De maneira que o Senhor não mais o podia sofrer, por causa da maldade das vossas ações, por causa das abominações que fizestes; pelo que se tornou a vossa terra em deserto, e em espanto, e em maldição, que ninguém habite nela, como hoje se vê.
23 Because you have burned incense, and because you have sinned against Jehovah, and have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil has happened to you, as it is this day."
Porque queimastes incenso, e porque pecastes contra o Senhor, e não obedecestes à voz do Senhor, e na sua lei, e nos seus testemunhos não andastes, por isso vos sucedeu este mal, como se vê neste dia
24 Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people, and to all the women, "Hear the word of Jehovah, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt:
Disse mais Jeremias a todo o povo e a todas as mulheres: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, todo o Judá que estais na terra do Egito.
25 Thus says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, 'You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, "We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her": establish then your vows, and perform your vows.'
Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel, dizendo: Vós e vossas mulheres não somente falastes por vossa boca, senão também o cumpristes por vossas mãos, dizendo: Certamente faremos os nossos votos que votamos de queimar incenso à rainha dos céus e de lhe oferecer libações: perfeitamente confirmastes os vossos votos, e perfeitamente fizestes os vossos votos.
26 Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: 'Look, I have sworn by my great name,' says Jehovah, 'that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, "As Jehovah lives."
Portanto ouvi a palavra do Senhor, todo o Judá, que habitais na terra do Egito: Eis que eu juro pelo meu grande nome, diz o Senhor, que nunca mais será nomeado o meu nome pela boca de nenhum homem de Judá em toda a terra do Egito, que diz: Vive o Senhor Jehovah!
27 Look, I watch over them for disaster, and not for good; and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until they are all gone.
Eis que velarei sobre eles para mal, e não para bem; e serão consumidos todos os homens de Judá, que estão na terra do Egito, à espada e à fome, até que se acabem de todo.
28 Those who escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, few in number; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, shall know whose word shall stand, mine, or theirs.
E os que escaparem da espada tornarão da terra do Egito à terra de Judá, poucos em número; e saberá todo o resto de Judá, que entrou na terra do Egito, para peregrinar ali, qual palavra subsistirá, a minha ou a sua
29 This shall be the sign to you,' says Jehovah, 'that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil':
E isto vos servirá de sinal, diz o Senhor, que eu vos visitarei neste mesmo lugar; para que saibais que certamente subsistirão as minhas palavras contra vós para mal.
30 Thus says Jehovah, 'Look, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of those who seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy, and sought his life.'"
Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que eu darei faraó Hophra, rei do Egito, na mão de seus inimigos, e na mão dos que procuram a sua morte; como dei Zedekias, rei de Judá, na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, seu inimigo, e que procurava a sua morte.
