Hebrews 8
1 Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this. We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
Mais le point capital de ce que nous disons, c'est que nous possédons un grand prêtre tel, qu'il s'est assis à la droite du trône de la Majesté dans les cieux,
2 a servant of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord set up, and not man.
comme ministre du sanctuaire et du véritable tabernacle qui a été dressé par le Seigneur, non par un homme.
3 For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.
En effet tout grand prêtre est institué pour présenter des offrandes et des sacrifices, en sorte qu'il était nécessaire que celui-ci eût aussi quelque chose à présenter.
4 Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, seeing there are priests who offer the gifts according to the Law;
Si donc il était sur la terre, il ne serait pas même prêtre, — puisque là se trouvent ceux qui présentent les offrandes selon la loi,
5 who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses was warned when he was about to make the tabernacle, for he said, "See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain."
lesquels rendent un culte à une copie et à une ombre des choses qui sont dans le ciel, selon l'oracle par lequel il fut répondu à Moïse, qui allait, construire le tabernacle: « Aie soin, dit-Il en effet, de tout exécuter selon le modèle qui t'a été montré sur la montagne; » —
6 But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as Law.
mais maintenant il a obtenu un ministère bien supérieur, d'autant plus qu'il est médiateur d'une alliance encore plus excellente, et dont la loi repose sur de bien meilleures promesses.
7 For if the first had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.
En effet, si cette première loi était irréprochable, il n'y avait pas à chercher la place d'une autre,
8 For finding fault with them, he said, "Look, the days are coming," says the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
tandis que c'est d'un ton de reproche qu'il leur dit: « Voici, des jours viennent, dit le Seigneur, où Je conclurai avec la maison d'Israël et avec la maison de Juda une alliance nouvelle,
9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they did not continue in my covenant, and I disregarded them," says the Lord.
non plus comme l'alliance que J'ai faite avec leurs pères dans le temps où Je les pris par la main pour les faire sortir de la terre d'Egypte, parce qu'ils n'ont pas persévéré dans Mon alliance, et que, de Mon côté, Je les ai négligés, dit le Seigneur.
10 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days," says the Lord; "I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Car voici l'alliance que Je ferai avec la maison d'Israël, après ce temps-là, dit le Seigneur: Je mettrai Mes lois dans leur pensée, et Je les écrirai sur leurs cœurs, et Je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront Mon peuple;
11 They will not teach each one his fellow citizen, and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for all will know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
et ils n'enseigneront plus chacun son concitoyen, et chacun son frère, en disant: Apprends à connaître le Seigneur, car tous Me connaîtront parmi eux, depuis le petit jusqu'au grand,
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins no more."
parce que Je me montrerai miséricordieux pour leurs injustices, et que Je ne me souviendrai absolument plus de leurs péchés. »
13 In that he says, "new," he has made the first old. But that which is becoming old and grows aged is near to vanishing away.
En disant: « une nouvelle, » Il a frappé la première de décrépitude; or ce qui est décrépit et vieilli est près de disparaître.
