Hebrews 11
1 Now faith is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see.
விசுவாசம் என்பது, நாம் எதிர்பார்த்திருக்கும் காரியங்களைக்குறித்த நிச்சயமும், நம்மால் காண முடியாதவற்றைக் குறித்த உறுதியுமாயிருக்கிறது.
2 For by this, the people of old were attested.
இப்படிப்பட்ட விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே நமது முன்னோர்கள் நற்சாட்சி பெற்றார்கள்.
3 By faith, we understand that the ages were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which are visible. (aiōn g165)
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே நாம் உலகங்கள் அனைத்தும் இறைவன் தனது வார்த்தையினால் கட்டளையிட உருவாக்கப்பட்டன என்று விளங்கிக்கொள்கிறோம். ஆகவே காணப்படுகிறவைகள், காணப்படாதவற்றிலிருந்து உண்டாயிற்று. (aiōn g165)
4 By faith, Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he was attested as righteous, God testifying with respect to his gifts; and though he died he still speaks through it.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே ஆபேல், காயீன் செலுத்திய பலியைப் பார்க்கிலும் மேன்மையான பலியை இறைவனுக்குச் செலுத்தினான். இறைவனே அவனுடைய காணிக்கையைக்குறித்து நன்றாகப் பேசியபோது, விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே அவன், நீதிமான் என நற்சாட்சி பெற்றான். விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே ஆபேல் இறந்து போனபோதும், இன்னும் பேசிக்கொண்டே இருக்கிறான்.
5 By faith, Enoch was taken away, so that he would not see death, "and he was not found, because God took him away." For before he was taken he was attested as having pleased God.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே ஏனோக்கு மரணத்தை அனுபவிக்காமல், இவ்வாழ்க்கையிலிருந்து எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்பட்டான். இறைவன் அவனை எடுத்துக்கொண்டதனால், அவன் காணாமல் போய்விட்டான். அவன் இறைவனால் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்படும் முன்பு, அவன் இறைவனுக்குப் பிரியமானவன் என்று நற்சாட்சி பெற்றிருந்தான்.
6 Now without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.
விசுவாசம் இல்லாமல் இறைவனை ஒருபோதும் பிரியப்படுத்தமுடியாது. ஏனெனில் இறைவனிடம் வருகிறவர்கள், அவர் இருக்கிறார் என்றும், அவர் தம்மை முழுமனதோடு தேடுகிறவர்களுக்கு வெகுமதியைக் கொடுக்கிறவர் என்றும் விசுவாசிக்க வேண்டும்.
7 By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared a box-shaped ship for the salvation of his household, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே நோவா, இன்னும் காணப்படாத காரியங்களைக்குறித்து எச்சரிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தனது குடும்பத்தை இரட்சிக்கும்படி, இறைபயத்துடனே ஒரு பேழையைச் செய்தான். அவன் தன்னுடைய விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே உலகத்தை நியாயந்தீர்த்து, விசுவாசத்தினால் வரும் நீதிக்கு உரிமையாளன் ஆனான்.
8 By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he was going.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே ஆபிரகாம் தான் உரிமைச்சொத்தாகப் பெறவிருந்த இடத்திற்குப் போகும்படி அழைக்கப்பட்டபோது, தான் எங்கே போகிறேன் என்றுகூட அவன் அறியாதிருந்ததும் கீழ்ப்படிந்து புறப்பட்டான்.
9 By faith, he sojourned in a land of promise, as a foreigner, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே ஆபிரகாம் பிறநாட்டில் இருக்கும் ஒரு அந்நியனைப்போல் வாக்குக்கொடுத்த நாட்டில் தனது குடியிருப்பை அமைத்தான். அவன் கூடாரங்களிலேயே குடியிருந்தான். அதே வாக்குத்தத்தத்திற்கு உரிமையாளர்களான ஈசாக்கும், யாக்கோபும் கூடாரங்களிலேயே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.
10 For he looked for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
ஏனெனில், இறைவனே சிற்பியாக கட்டுபவராக அஸ்திபாரமிட்ட நகரத்தை ஆபிரகாம் எதிர்பார்த்துக் காத்திருந்தான்.
11 By faith, even barren Sarah herself received power to conceive when she was past age, and gave birth, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
சாராள் வயது சென்றவளும், மலடியுமாயிருந்தபோதும் பிள்ளைபெறும் ஆற்றலைப் பெற்றாள். ஏனெனில் தனக்கு வாக்குத்தத்தத்தைக் கொடுத்த இறைவன் வாக்குமாறாதவர் என்று அவள் நம்பினாள்.
12 Therefore as many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as innumerable as the sand which is by the sea shore, were fathered by one man, and him as good as dead.
ஆபிரகாமின் உடல் வல்லமையிழந்து, உயிரற்றதுபோல் இருந்தபோதும், வானத்திலுள்ள நட்சத்திரங்களைப்போலவும், கடற்கரையிலுள்ள மணலைப்போலவும் எண்ணற்ற மக்கள் அவனுக்கு பிறந்தனர்.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and embraced them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and temporary residents on the earth.
விசுவாசத்துடன் வாழ்ந்த இந்த மக்கள் எல்லோரும் இறக்கும்போதும், அந்த விசுவாசத்திலே இறந்தார்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர்களோ, வாக்குத்தத்தம் பண்ணப்பட்டதை அப்பொழுது பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை. அவர்கள் தூரத்திலிருந்து அதைக்கண்டு, வரவேற்று மகிழ்ச்சி கொண்டவர்களாக மட்டுமே இருந்தார்கள். தாங்கள் பூமியிலே அந்நியர் என்பதையும், தற்காலிக குடிகள் என்பதையும் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள்.
14 For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.
இப்படி அறிக்கையிடுகின்ற மக்கள், தாங்கள் தங்களுக்குச் சொந்தமான ஒரு நாட்டையே தேடுகிறார்கள் என்பதைக் காட்டுகிறது.
15 If indeed they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had enough time to return.
தாங்கள் தேடுகிற நாடு தாங்கள் விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு வந்த நாடே என அவர்கள் நினைத்திருந்தால், அவர்கள் அங்கு திரும்பிப் போகக்கூடிய தருணம் அவர்களுக்குக் கிடைத்திருக்கும்.
16 Instead, they were longing for a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
ஆனால் அவர்களோ அதிலும் மேன்மையான நாட்டை, ஒரு பரலோக நாட்டையேத் தேடினார்கள். அதை அடையவே ஆசைப்பட்டார்கள். ஆகவே இறைவன், “அவர்களுடைய இறைவன்” என்று தான் அழைக்கப்படுவதை வெட்கமாக எண்ணவில்லை. ஏனெனில் இறைவன், அவர்களுக்கென்று ஒரு நகரத்தை ஆயத்தம் பண்ணியிருக்கிறார்.
17 By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac; and he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son;
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே ஆபிரகாம் இறைவன் அவனைச் சோதித்தபோது, ஈசாக்கைப் பலியாகச் செலுத்தினான். வாக்குத்தத்தங்களைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டவன் தனது ஒரேயொரு மகனைப் பலியாகக் கொடுக்கவும் ஆயத்தமாயிருந்தான்.
18 even he to whom it was said, "In Isaac will your descendants be called;"
“ஈசாக்கின் மூலமே உனக்கு சந்ததி உண்டாகும்” என்று இறைவன் அவனுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தும்கூட, அவன் இப்படிச் செய்தான்.
19 concluding that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Figuratively speaking, he also did receive him back from the dead.
இறந்தவர்களையும் உயிரோடு எழுப்ப இறைவனால் முடியும் என்று ஆபிரகாம் உணர்ந்திருந்தான். ஒரு வகையில் அவன் ஈசாக்கை மரணத்திலிருந்தே மீண்டும் பெற்றுக்கொண்டான் என்று சொல்லலாம்.
20 By faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even concerning things to come.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு மற்றும் ஏசாவின் எதிர்காலத்தைக் குறித்து ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.
21 By faith, Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and bowed over the top of his staff.
யாக்கோபு தான் சாகும் வேளையில் விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே யோசேப்பினுடைய மகன்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் ஆசீர்வதித்தான். பின்பு தனது கோலின் மேற்புறத்தில் சாய்ந்துகொண்டு வழிபட்டான்.
22 By faith, Joseph, when his end was near, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel; and gave instructions concerning his bones.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே யோசேப்பு தனது முடிவுகாலம் நெருங்கியபோது, இஸ்ரயேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுப் போவார்கள் என்பதைக் குறித்துப்பேசி, தனது எலும்புகளைக்குறித்துக் கட்டளை கொடுத்தான்.
23 By faith, Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that he was a beautiful child, and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
மோசேயின் பெற்றோர் அவன் பிறந்தபோது, விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே அவனை மூன்று மாதத்திற்கு ஒளித்துவைத்தார்கள். அவன் ஒரு சாதாரண குழந்தையல்ல என்பதை உணர்ந்துகொண்டதால், அவர்கள் அரச கட்டளைக்குப் பயப்படவில்லை.
24 By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே மோசே வளர்ந்து பெரியவனானபோது, தான் பார்வோனுடைய மகளின் மகன் என்று சொல்லப்படுவதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள மறுத்தான்.
25 choosing rather to share ill treatment with God's people, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time;
மோசே விரைவில் கடந்துபோகும் பாவச் சிற்றின்பங்களை அனுபவிப்பதைப் பார்க்கிலும், இறைவனுடைய மக்களுடன் சேர்ந்து கஷ்டங்களை அனுபவிப்பதையே தெரிந்துகொண்டான்.
26 considering the abuse suffered for the Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
கிறிஸ்துவுக்காக அவமானப்படுவது எகிப்தின் செல்வங்களைப் பார்க்கிலும் மேலான மதிப்புடையது என்றே கருதினான். ஏனெனில், அவன் வரப்போகின்ற வெகுமதிக்காகவே எதிர்பார்த்துக் காத்திருந்தான்.
27 By faith, he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே மோசே அரசனின் கோபத்திற்கும் பயப்படாமல் எகிப்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனான். ஏனெனில், அவன் கண்ணுக்குக் காணப்படாத இறைவனைக் கண்டவனாய் மனவுறுதியுடன் இருந்தான்.
28 By faith, he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.
தலைப்பிள்ளைகளை அழிக்கும் இறைத்தூதன், இஸ்ரயேலரின் தலைப்பிள்ளைகளை தொடாதபடி விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே மோசே பஸ்காவையும், கதவு நிலைகளில் இரத்தத்தைத் தெளிப்பதையும் கைக்கொண்டான்.
29 By faith, they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land. When the Egyptians tried to do so, they were swallowed up.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் உலர்ந்த தரையில் நடப்பதுபோல், செங்கடலைக் கடந்து சென்றார்கள். ஆனால், அவ்வாறு எகிப்தியர் செய்ய முற்பட்டபோது, அவர்கள் கடலில் மூழ்கிப்போனார்கள்.
30 By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down, after they had been encircled for seven days.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் எரிகோ பட்டணத்தைச்சுற்றி ஏழு நாட்கள் அணிவகுத்து நடந்தபோது, எரிகோவின் மதில்கள் இடிந்து விழுந்தன.
31 By faith, Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, having received the spies in peace.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே ராகாப் என்ற விலைமகள், இஸ்ரயேல் ஒற்றர்களை வரவேற்று, இறைவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்களுடனேகூட கொல்லப்படாமல் தப்பினாள்.
32 And what more should I say? For the time would fail me if I told of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets;
இன்னும் நான் என்ன சொல்லுவேன்? கிதியோன், பாராக், சிம்சோன், யெப்தா, தாவீது, சாமுயேல் ஆகியோரைக்குறித்தும், மற்ற இறைவாக்கினரைக்குறித்தும் சொல்வதற்கு நேரமில்லை.
33 who, through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
இவர்களெல்லாரும் விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே அரசுகளை வென்றெடுத்தார்கள். நீதியை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தினார்கள். வாக்குத்தத்தம் பண்ணப்பட்டதைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள். சிங்கங்களின் வாய்களைக் கட்டினார்கள்.
34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, grew mighty in war, and caused foreign armies to flee.
கொழுந்து விட்டெரியும் நெருப்பின் அனலையும் அணைத்தார்கள். வாள்முனைக்கும் தப்பினார்கள். அவர்களது பலவீனங்கள் பலமுள்ளதாய் மாற்றப்பட்டன. அவர்கள் யுத்தத்தில் வலிமையுடையவர்களாகி, அந்நிய படைகளைத் தோற்கடித்தார்கள்.
35 Women received their dead by resurrection. And others were tortured, not accepting the payment for release, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
விசுவாசத்தினாலேயே பெண்கள் தங்கள் இறந்தவர்களை மீண்டும் உயிரோடப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள். ஆனால் வேறுசிலரோ துன்புறுத்தப்பட்டும், ஒரு மேன்மையான உயிர்த்தெழுதலைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்வதற்காகவே விடுதலை பெற்றுக்கொள்ள மறுத்தார்கள்.
36 Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment.
இன்னும் சிலர் ஏளனத்துக்குள்ளாகி, சவுக்கால் அடிக்கப்பட்டார்கள். வேறுசிலர் விலங்கிடப்பட்டவர்களாய், சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.
37 They were stoned, they were sawed apart, they were put to the test, they were killed with the sword. They went around in sheepskins and in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, mistreated
அவர்கள் கல்லெறியப்பட்டார்கள், இரண்டாக அறுக்கப்பட்டார்கள், வாளினால் கொலைசெய்யப்பட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் செம்மறியாட்டுத் தோல்களையும், வெள்ளாட்டுத் தோல்களையும் உடுத்திக்கொண்டு திரிந்தார்கள். குறைவையும், உபத்திரவத்தையும், துன்பத்தையும் அநுபவித்தார்கள்.
38 (of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.
இந்த உலகமோ அவர்களுக்குத் தகுதியற்றதாயிருந்தது. அவர்கள் பாலைவனங்களிலும், மலைகளிலும் அலைந்து, குகைகளிலும், நிலத்திலுள்ள கிடங்குகளிலும் வாழ்ந்தார்கள்.
39 These all, having had testimony given to them through their faith, did not receive the promise,
இவர்கள் எல்லோரும் தங்கள் விசுவாசத்தால் நற்பெயர் பெற்றார்கள். ஆனால் இவர்கள் ஒருவரும் வாக்குத்தத்தம் பண்ணப்பட்டதைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை.
40 God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
இறைவனோ நமக்காக அதிலும் மேன்மையான ஒரு திட்டத்தை வைத்திருக்கிறார். இதனால் அவர்களும், நம்முடன் ஒன்று சேர்ந்துதான் நிறைவுபெறமுடியும்.
