Genesis 32
1 Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.
೧ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಮುಂದೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಲು ದೇವದೂತರು ಅವನೆದುರಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
2 When he saw them, Jacob said, "This is God's camp." He called the name of that place Mahanaim.
೨ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ, “ಇದು ದೇವರ ಸೇನಾನಿವೇಶ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ “ಮಹನಯಿಮ್” ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
3 Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to Esau, his brother, to the land of Seir, the region of Edom.
೩ಬಳಿಕ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತನಗಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ಪ್ರದೇಶವಾಗಿರುವ ಸೇಯೀರ್ ಸೀಮೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ ಏಸಾವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
4 He commanded them, saying, "This is what you shall tell my lord, Esau: 'This is what your servant, Jacob, says. I have lived as a foreigner with Laban, and stayed until now.
೪ಕಳುಹಿಸುವಾಗ ಅವರಿಗೆ “ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಭುವಾದ ಏಸಾವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, ‘ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಇಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ಲಾಬಾನನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು
5 I have cattle, donkeys, flocks, male servants, and female servants. I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight.'"
೫ಈಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಎತ್ತು, ಕತ್ತೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಪಶುಗಳ ಹಿಂಡುಗಳೂ ದಾಸದಾಸಿಯರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವನು ತಮ್ಮ ದಯೆ ಆತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಬೇಕೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ’” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
6 The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brother Esau. Not only that, but he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him."
೬ತರುವಾಯ ಆ ಸೇವಕರು ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದು, “ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ ಏಸಾವನ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ಅವನು ನಾನೂರು ಜನರ ಸಮೇತ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ,
7 Then Jacob was very afraid and was distressed. He divided the people who were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two camps;
೭ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ ಬಹು ಭಯವೂ ಕಳವಳವೂ ಉಂಟಾದವು. ಅವನು ತನ್ನೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದ ಜನರನ್ನು, ಕುರಿದನಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಒಂಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎರಡು ಗುಂಪುಗಳಾಗಿ ವಿಭಾಗಿಸಿದನು.
8 and he said, "If Esau comes to the one camp, and strikes it, then the other camp will escape."
೮ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, “ಏಸಾವನು ಒಂದು ಗುಂಪಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದರೂ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಗುಂಪು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬಹುದು” ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
9 Jacob said, "God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, who said to me, 'Return to your country, and to your relatives, and I will do you good,'
೯ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿ, “ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ದೇವರೇ, ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಇಸಾಕನ ದೇವರೇ, ‘ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ವದೇಶಕ್ಕೂ, ಬಂಧುಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೂ ತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವೆನೆಂದು’ ನನಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ,
10 I am not worthy of the least of all the loving kindnesses and of all the faithfulness which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I passed over this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.
೧೦ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನಿಟ್ಟು ನಿನ್ನ ವಾಗ್ದಾನವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದ್ದೀಯಲ್ಲಾ. ನಾನು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇವಲ ಅಯೋಗ್ಯನು. ನಾನು ಮೊದಲು ಈ ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದಾಗ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಕೋಲು ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಇತ್ತು. ಈಗ ಎರಡು ಗುಂಪುಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಡೆಯನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
11 Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children.
೧೧ನನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ ಏಸಾವನು ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನೂ, ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ತಾಯಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುವನೋ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ಭಯವಿದೆ. ಅವನ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕದಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ,
12 You said, 'I will surely do you good and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which can't be counted because there are so many.'"
೧೨‘ನಿನಗೆ ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಉಸುಬಿನಂತೆ ಅಸಂಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮಾಡುವೆನೆಂದು ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೀಯಲ್ಲಾ?’” ಎಂದನು.
13 So he spent the night there and selected from what he had acquired a present for his brother Esau:
೧೩ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ತಂಗಿದನು. ತಾನು ತಂದದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವನ್ನು ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಏಸಾವನಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡನು.
14 two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,
೧೪ಇನ್ನೂರು ಆಡುಕುರಿ, ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಹೋತ, ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಟಗರು, ಮರಿಯೊಡನೆ ಹಾಲು ಕರೆಯುವ
15 thirty milk camels with their young, forty cows, ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten male donkeys.
೧೫ಮೂವತ್ತು ಒಂಟೆ, ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ಆಕಳು, ಹತ್ತು ಹೋರಿ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಹೆಣ್ಣುಕತ್ತೆ, ಹತ್ತು ಗಂಡುಕತ್ತೆ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡನು.
16 He entrusted them into the hands of his servants as separate herds, and said to his servants, "Pass over before me, and keep some distance between the herds."
೧೬ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಹಿಂಡನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ, “ನೀವು ನನಗಿಂತ ಮುಂಚಿತವಾಗಿ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಹೋಗಿರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿ ಹಿಂಡು ಹಿಂಡಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತರವಿರಲಿ” ಎಂದನು.
17 He instructed the first, saying, "When Esau my brother meets you and asks you, saying, 'Whose are you? Where are you going? Whose are these ahead of you?'
೧೭ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಹಿಂಡಿನ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ ಏಸಾವನು ನಿನ್ನೆದುರಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ‘ನೀನು ಯಾರ ಸೇವಕನು? ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀ? ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇರುವ ಇವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಯಾರದು?’” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ,
18 Then you shall say, 'They are your servant, Jacob's. It is a present sent to my lord Esau. And look, he also is behind us.'"
೧೮ಆಗ ನೀನು, “ಇವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನದು. ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಭುಗಳಾದ ನಿಮಗೆ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅವನೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
19 He instructed also the second, and the third, and all that followed the herds, saying, "This is how you are to speak to Esau, when you find him.
೧೯ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಎರಡನೆಯವನಿಗೂ ಮೂರನೆಯವನಿಗೂ ಹಿಂಡುಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋದವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ, “ನೀವು ಏಸಾವನನ್ನು ನೋಡುವಾಗ ಇದೇ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು. ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
20 You shall say, 'Not only that, but look, your servant Jacob is behind us.'" For, he said, "I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will meet him. Perhaps he will accept me."
೨೦ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತನ್ನೊಳಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಈ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಏಸಾವನನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನಪಡಿಸುವೆನು. ಆಮೇಲೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸುವಾಗ, ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುವನೇನೋ” ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
21 So the gift passed over before him, and he himself stayed that night in the camp.
೨೧ಹೀಗೆ ಆ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯು ಅವನ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಯಿತು. ತಾನು ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ತನ್ನ ಪಾಳೆಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡನು.
22 He got up that night and took his two wives, and his two female servants, and his eleven sons and crossed over the ford of the Jabbok.
೨೨ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರನ್ನು, ಇಬ್ಬರು ದಾಸಿಯರನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಹನ್ನೊಂದು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಯಬ್ಬೋಕ್ ಹೊಳೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದನು.
23 He took them and sent them across the stream, and sent over all his possessions.
೨೩ಅವರನ್ನೂ, ತನ್ನ ಆಸ್ತಿಯೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ದಾಟಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ
24 Then Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the rising of the dawn.
೨೪ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದೆ ನಿಂತಿರಲು ಯಾರೋ ಒಬ್ಬ ಪುರುಷನು ಬೆಳಗಾಗುವ ತನಕ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋರಾಡಿದನು.
25 When he saw that he did not defeat him, he struck the socket of his hip, and Jacob's hip was dislocated as he wrestled with him.
೨೫ಆ ಪುರುಷನು ತಾನು ಗೆಲ್ಲದೆ ಇರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಯಾಕೋಬನ ತೊಡೆಯ ಕೀಲನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋರಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗಲೇ ಅವನ ತೊಡೆಯ ಕೀಲು ತಪ್ಪಿತು.
26 Then he said, "Let me go, for the dawn is breaking." But Jacob said, "I won't let you go unless you bless me."
೨೬ಆ ಪುರುಷನು, “ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಡು, ಬೆಳಗಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ” ಎನ್ನಲು, ಯಾಕೋಬನು, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸದ ಹೊರತು ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದನು.
27 And he said to him, "What is your name?" He said, "Jacob."
೨೭ಆ ಪುರುಷನು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರೇನು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ಯಾಕೋಬನು” ಎಂದಾಗ,
28 Then he said, "Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed."
೨೮ಅವನು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ, “ಇನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ನೀನು ಯಾಕೋಬನೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನೀನು ದೇವರ ಸಂಗಡಲೂ, ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡಲೂ ಹೋರಾಡಿ ಗೆದ್ದವನಾದುದರಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ‘ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್’ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಗುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
29 Then Jacob asked him, "Please tell me your name." But he said, "Why is it that you ask what my name is?" And he blessed him there.
೨೯ಯಾಕೋಬನು, “ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಆತನು, “ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವುದೇಕೆ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದನು.
30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: "For I have seen God face to face, and my life has been preserved."
೩೦ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು, “ನಾನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿದೆನಲ್ಲಾ; ಆದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಉಳಿದಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಪೆನೀಯೇಲ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು,
31 The sun rose on him as he passed by Peniel, and he limped because of his hip.
೩೧ಅವನು, ಪೆನೂವೇಲನ್ನು ದಾಟುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯವಾಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತೊಡೆಯ ನೋವಿನ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಕುಂಟುತ್ತಾ ನಡೆದನು.
32 Therefore, to this day the children of Israel do not eat the tendon of the hip socket, because he struck Jacob's hip socket near that tendon.
೩೨ಆ ಪುರುಷನು ಯಾಕೋಬನ ತೊಡೆಯ ಕೀಲನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಇಂದಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ತೊಡೆಯ ಕೀಲಿನ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಸೊಂಟದ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
