Amos 2
1 Thus says Jehovah: "For three transgressions of Moab, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime;
主はこう言われる、「モアブの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼がエドムの王の骨を焼いて灰にしたからである。
2 but I will send a fire on Moab, and it will devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab will die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet;
それゆえ、わたしはモアブに火を送り、ケリオテのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。モアブは騒ぎと、ときの声と、ラッパの音の中に死ぬ。
3 and I will cut off the judge from their midst, and will kill all its officials with him," says Jehovah.
わたしはそのうちから、支配者を断ち、そのすべてのつかさを彼と共に殺す」と主は言われる。
4 Thus says Jehovah: "For three transgressions of Judah, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have rejected Jehovah's law, and have not kept his statutes. Their false idols which they made, after which their fathers walked, have led them astray.
主はこう言われる、「ユダの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが主の律法を捨て、その定めを守らず、その先祖たちが従い歩いた偽りの物に惑わされたからである。
5 But I will send a fire on Judah, and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem."
それゆえ、わたしはユダに火を送り、エルサレムのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
6 Thus says Jehovah: "For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes;
主はこう言われる、「イスラエルの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが正しい者を金のために売り、貧しい者をくつ一足のために売るからである。
7 They trample on the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and deny justice to the oppressed; and a man and his father use the same maiden, to profane my holy name;
彼らは弱い者の頭を地のちりに踏みつけ、苦しむ者の道をまげ、また父子ともにひとりの女のところへ行って、わが聖なる名を汚す。
8 and they lay themselves down beside every altar on clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.
彼らはすべての祭壇のかたわらに質に取った衣服を敷いて、その上に伏し、罰金をもって得た酒を、その神の家で飲む。
9 Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
さきにわたしはアモリびとを彼らの前から滅ぼした。これはその高きこと、香柏のごとく、その強きこと、かしの木のようであったが、わたしはその上の実と、下の根とを滅ぼした。
10 Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
わたしはまた、あなたがたをエジプトの地から連れ上り、四十年のあいだ荒野で、あなたがたを導き、アモリびとの地を獲させた。
11 I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazirites. Isn't this true, you children of Israel?" says Jehovah.
わたしはあなたがたの子らのうちから預言者を起し、あなたがたの若者のうちからナジルびとを起した。イスラエルの人々よ、そうではないか」と主は言われる。
12 "But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, 'Do not prophesy.'
「ところがあなたがたはナジルびとに酒を飲ませ、預言者に命じて『預言するな』と言う。
13 Look, I will crush you in your place, as a cart crushes that is full of grain.
見よ、わたしは麦束をいっぱい積んだ車が物を圧するように、あなたがたをその所で圧する。
14 Flight will perish from the swift; and the strong won't strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself;
速く走る者も逃げ場を失い、強い者もその力をふるうことができず、勇士もその命を救うことができない。
15 neither shall he stand who handles the bow; and he who is swift of foot won't escape; neither shall he who rides the horse deliver himself;
弓をとる者も立つことができず、足早の者も自分を救うことができず、馬に乗る者もその命を救うことができない。
16 and he who is courageous among the mighty will flee away naked on that day," says Jehovah.
勇士のうちの雄々しい心の者もその日には裸で逃げる」と主は言われる。
