Acts 9
1 But Saul, still breathing threats and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
| ושאול עודנו יפח זעם ורצח על תלמידי האדון ויבא אל הכהן הגדול׃ |
2 and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
| וישאל מאתו מכתבים לדמשק אל בתי הכנסיות למען אשר יאסר את אשר ימצא בדרך ההיא אנשים או נשים ויביאם ירושלים׃ |
3 As he traveled, it happened that he got close to Damascus, and suddenly a light from the sky shone around him.
| ויהי הוא הלך וקרב לדמשק והנה פתאם נגה עליו מסביב אור מן השמים׃ |
4 And he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"
| ויפל ארצה וישמע קול מדבר אליו שאול שאול למה תרדפני׃ |
5 And he said, "Who are you, Lord?" And he said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
| ויאמר מי אתה אדני ויאמר האדון אנכי ישוע אשר אתה רודף קשה לך לבעט בדרבנות׃ |
6 But rise up, and enter into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
| והוא חרד ונבעת ויאמר אדני מה תחפץ ואעשה ויען האדון קום לך העירה ויאמר לך את אשר עליך לעשות׃ |
7 The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the sound, but seeing no one.
| והאנשים אשר הלכו אתו עמדו נאלמים כי שמעו את הקול ואיש לא הביטו׃ |
8 Saul arose from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could not see anything. They led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
| ויקם שאול מן הארץ ובפתחו את עיניו לא ראה איש ויחזיקו בידו ויוליכהו לדמשק׃ |
9 He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.
| ויחשכו עיניו מראות שלשת ימים ולא אכל ולא שתה׃ |
10 Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Look, it's me, Lord."
| ותלמיד אחד היה בדמשק חנניה שמו ויאמר אליו האדון במחזה חנניה ויאמר הנני אדני׃ |
11 The Lord said to him, "Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus. For look, he is praying,
| ויאמר אליו האדון קום לך אל הרחוב הנקרא הישר ושאל בבית יהודה לאיש טרסי ושמו שאול כי הנה הוא מתפלל׃ |
12 and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in, and laying his hands on him, that he might receive his sight."
| וירא במחזה והנה איש ושמו חנניה בא החדרה ושם עליו את ידו למען ישוב ויראה׃ |
13 But Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he did to your saints at Jerusalem.
| ויען חנניה ויאמר אדני שמעתי רבים מספרים על האיש הזה כמה רעות עשה לקדושיך בירושלים׃ |
14 Here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name."
| וגם פה רשיון יש לו מאת ראשי הכהנים לאסר את כל הקראים בשמך׃ |
15 But the Lord said to him, "Go your way, for he is my chosen vessel to bear my name before the nations and kings, and the children of Israel.
| ויאמר אליו האדון לך כי כלי חפץ הוא לי לשאת את שמי לפני גוים ומלכים ולפני בני ישראל׃ |
16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name's sake."
| כי אני אראהו כמה יש לו לסבל למען שמי׃ |
17 Ananias departed, and entered into the house. Laying his hands on him, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me, that you may receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit."
| וילך חנניה ויבא הביתה וישם את ידיו עליו ויאמר שאול אחי האדון ישוע הנראה אליך בדרך אשר באת בה שלחני למען תשוב ותראה ותמלא רוח הקדש׃ |
18 Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he received his sight. He arose and was baptized.
| וכרגע נפלו מעל עיניו כמו קשקשים וישב פתאם לראות ויקם ויטבל׃ |
19 He took food and was strengthened. He stayed several days with the disciples who were at Damascus.
| ויאכל לחם ויחזק וישב שאול ימים אחדים עם התלמידים אשר בדמשק׃ |
20 Immediately in the synagogues he proclaimed Jesus, that he is the Son of God.
| וימהר ויקרא בבתי הכנסיות את המשיח לאמר כי הוא הוא בן האלהים׃ |
21 All who heard him were amazed, and said, "Is not this he who in Jerusalem made havoc of those who called on this name? And he had come here intending to bring them bound before the chief priests."
| וישתוממו כל השמעים ויאמרו הלא זה הוא אשר האביד בירושלים את קראי השם הזה ולמען זאת בא הנה להביאם אסורים לפני ראשי הכהנים׃ |
22 But Saul increased more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.
| ושאול היה הולך וחזק ויהם את היהודים ישבי דמשק בהוכיחו כי זה הוא המשיח׃ |
23 When many days were fulfilled, the Jews conspired together to kill him,
| ויהי כי ארכו לו שם הימים ויועצו היהודים יחדו להמיתו׃ |
24 but their plot became known to Saul. They watched the gates both day and night that they might kill him,
| ויודע לשאול ארבם והמה שמרו את השערים יומם ולילה למען ימיתהו׃ |
25 but his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.
| ויקחו אתו התלמידים לילה ויורידהו בסל בעד החומה׃ |
26 When Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join himself to the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
| ויהי כבוא שאול ירושלימה ויבקש להלות אל התלמידים וייראו כלם מפניו ולא האמינו כי תלמיד הוא׃ |
27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.
| ויקח אתו בר נבא ויביאהו אל השליחים ויספר להם את אשר ראה בדרך את האדון וכי הוא דבר אליו ואיך בדמשק השמיע בבטחון את שם ישוע׃ |
28 He was with them coming in and going out in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.
| ויהי אתם יוצא ובא בירושלים׃ |
29 He spoke and disputed against the Hellenists, but they were seeking to kill him.
| ויקרא בבטחון בשם האדון ישוע וידבר ויתוכח גם עם היהודים היונים והם זממו להמיתו׃ |
30 When the brothers knew it, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him off to Tarsus.
| וישמעו האחים ויורידו אתו לקסרין וישלחהו אל טרסוס׃ |
31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, and were built up. They were multiplied, walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
| ויהי שלום לקהלות בכל מקמות יהודה והגליל ושמרון ותבנינה ותתהלכנה ביראת האדון ותרבינה בנחמת רוח הקדש׃ |
32 It happened, as Peter went throughout all those parts, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.
| ויהי בסבב פטרוס בכל המקמות וירד גם אל הקדושים אשר ישבו בלד׃ |
33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years, because he was paralyzed.
| וימצא שם איש שמו אניס והוא שכב על משכבו זה שמנה שנים והוא נכה אברים׃ |
34 Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed." Immediately he arose.
| ויאמר אליו פטרוס אניס רפאך ישוע המשיח קום הצע לך אתה ויקם פתאם׃ |
35 All who lived at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.
| ויראו אותו כל ישבי לד והשרון ויפנו אל האדון׃ |
36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha (which when translated, means Dorcas). This woman was full of good works and acts of mercy which she did.
| ותלמידה ביפו ושמה טביתא תרגומו צביה והיא מלאה מעשים טובים וצדקות אשר עשתה׃ |
37 It happened in those days that she fell sick, and died. When they had washed her, they placed her in an upper chamber.
| ויהי בימים ההם ותחלה ותמת וירחצו אתה וישימוה בעליה׃ |
38 As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to us.
| ולד קרובה היא ליפו וישמעו התלמידים כי פטרוס שם וישלחו אליו שני אנשים ויפצרו בו לבלתי העצל לעבר אליהם׃ |
39 Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper chamber. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
| ויקם פטרוס וילך אתם ובבאו העלהו אל העליה ותנשנה אליו כל האלמנות בוכיות ומראות לו את הכתנת ואת הבגדים אשר עשתה צביה בעודה עמהן׃ |
40 Peter put them all out, and kneeled down and prayed. Turning to the body, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
| ויוצא פטרוס את כלם החוצה ויכרע על ברכיו ויתפלל ויפן אל גויתה ויאמר טביתא קומי ותפתח את עיניה ותרא את פטרוס ותתעודד׃ |
41 He gave her his hand, and raised her up. Calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.
| וישלח ידו ויקם אתה ויקרא את הקדושים ואת האלמנות ויעמד אתה חיה לפניהם׃ |
42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.
| ויודע הדבר בכל יפו ויאמינו רבים באדון׃ |
43 It happened, that he stayed many days in Joppa with one Simon, a tanner.
| ויואל לשבת ביפו ימים רבים עם בורסי אחד ושמו שמעון׃ |
