1 But know this, that in the last days terrible times will come.
caramadinESu klEzajanakAH samayA upasthAsyantIti jAnIhi|
2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
yatastAtkAlikA lOkA AtmaprEmiNO 'rthaprEmiNa AtmazlAghinO 'bhimAninO nindakAH pitrOranAjnjAgrAhiNaH kRtaghnA apavitrAH
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, hateful of good,
prItivarjitA asandhEyA mRSApavAdinO 'jitEndriyAH pracaNPA bhadradvESiNO
4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;
vizvAsaghAtakA duHsAhasinO darpadhmAtA IzvarAprEmiNaH kintu sukhaprEmiNO
5 holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof. Turn away from these, also.
bhaktavEzAH kintvasvIkRtabhaktiguNA bhaviSyanti; EtAdRzAnAM lOkAnAM saMmargaM parityaja|
6 For among them are those who crawl into households and take captive weak-willed women weighed down with sins, led away by various passions and pleasures,
yatO yE janAH pracchannaM gEhAn pravizanti pApai rbhAragrastA nAnAvidhAbhilASaizcAlitA yAH kAminyO
7 always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
nityaM zikSantE kintu satyamatasya tattvajnjAnaM prAptuM kadAcit na zaknuvanti tA dAsIvad vazIkurvvatE ca tE tAdRzA lOkAH|
8 Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; people corrupted in mind, disapproved concerning the faith.
yAnni ryAmbrizca yathA mUsamaM prati vipakSatvam akurutAM tathaiva bhraSTamanasO vizvAsaviSayE 'grAhyAzcaitE lOkA api satyamataM prati vipakSatAM kurvvanti|
9 But they will proceed no further. For their folly will be evident to all, as theirs also was.
kintu tE bahudUram agrasarA na bhaviSyanti yatastayO rmUPhatA yadvat tadvad EtESAmapi mUPhatA sarvvadRzyA bhaviSyati|
10 But you did follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,
mamOpadEzaH ziSTatAbhiprAyO vizvAsO rdharyyaM prEma sahiSNutOpadravaH klEzA
11 persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord delivered me.
AntiyakhiyAyAm ikaniyE lUstrAyAnjca mAM prati yadyad aghaTata yAMzcOpadravAn aham asahE sarvvamEtat tvam avagatO'si kintu tatsarvvataH prabhu rmAm uddhRtavAn|
12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
parantu yAvantO lOkAH khrISTEna yIzunEzvarabhaktim Acaritum icchanti tESAM sarvvESAm upadravO bhaviSyati|
13 But evil people and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
aparaM pApiSThAH khalAzca lOkA bhrAmyantO bhramayantazcOttarOttaraM duSTatvEna varddhiSyantE|
14 But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.
kintu tvaM yad yad azikSathAH, yacca tvayi samarpitam abhUt tasmin avatiSTha, yataH kasmAt zikSAM prAptO'si tad vEtsi;
15 From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.
yAni ca dharmmazAstrANi khrISTE yIzau vizvAsEna paritrANaprAptayE tvAM jnjAninaM karttuM zaknuvanti tAni tvaM zaizavakAlAd avagatO'si|
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
tat sarvvaM zAstram IzvarasyAtmanA dattaM zikSAyai dOSabOdhAya zOdhanAya dharmmavinayAya ca phalayUktaM bhavati
17 that the person of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
tEna cEzvarasya lOkO nipuNaH sarvvasmai satkarmmaNE susajjazca bhavati|
