2 Timothy 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, according to the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus,
神の御旨により、キリスト・イエスにあるいのちの約束によって立てられたキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロから、
2 to Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
愛する子テモテへ。父なる神とわたしたちの主キリスト・イエスから、恵みとあわれみと平安とが、あなたにあるように。
3 I thank God, whom I serve as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. How unceasing is my memory of you in my petitions, night and day
わたしは、日夜、祈の中で、絶えずあなたのことを思い出しては、きよい良心をもって先祖以来つかえている神に感謝している。
4 longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy;
わたしは、あなたの涙をおぼえており、あなたに会って喜びで満たされたいと、切に願っている。
5 having been reminded of the sincere faith that is in you; which lived first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and, I am persuaded, in you also.
また、あなたがいだいている偽りのない信仰を思い起している。この信仰は、まずあなたの祖母ロイスとあなたの母ユニケとに宿ったものであったが、今あなたにも宿っていると、わたしは確信している。
6 For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
こういうわけで、あなたに注意したい。わたしの按手によって内にいただいた神の賜物を、再び燃えたたせなさい。
7 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.
というのは、神がわたしたちに下さったのは、臆する霊ではなく、力と愛と慎みとの霊なのである。
8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,
だから、あなたは、わたしたちの主のあかしをすることや、わたしが主の囚人であることを、決して恥ずかしく思ってはならない。むしろ、神の力にささえられて、福音のために、わたしと苦しみを共にしてほしい。
9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, (aiōnios g166)
神はわたしたちを救い、聖なる招きをもって召して下さったのであるが、それは、わたしたちのわざによるのではなく、神ご自身の計画に基き、また、永遠の昔にキリスト・イエスにあってわたしたちに賜わっていた恵み、 (aiōnios g166)
10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.
そして今や、わたしたちの救主キリスト・イエスの出現によって明らかにされた恵みによるのである。キリストは死を滅ぼし、福音によっていのちと不死とを明らかに示されたのである。
11 For this, I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.
わたしは、この福音のために立てられて、その宣教者、使徒、教師になった。
12 For this cause I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.
そのためにまた、わたしはこのような苦しみを受けているが、それを恥としない。なぜなら、わたしは自分の信じてきたかたを知っており、またそのかたは、わたしにゆだねられているものを、かの日に至るまで守って下さることができると、確信しているからである。
13 Hold the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
あなたは、キリスト・イエスに対する信仰と愛とをもって、わたしから聞いた健全な言葉を模範にしなさい。
14 That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
そして、あなたにゆだねられている尊いものを、わたしたちの内に宿っている聖霊によって守りなさい。
15 This you know, that all who are in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
あなたの知っているように、アジヤにいる者たちは、皆わたしから離れて行った。その中には、フゲロとヘルモゲネもいる。
16 May the Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain,
どうか、主が、オネシポロの家にあわれみをたれて下さるように。彼はたびたび、わたしを慰めてくれ、またわたしの鎖を恥とも思わないで、
17 but when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me
ローマに着いた時には、熱心にわたしを捜しまわった末、尋ね出してくれたのである。
18 (the Lord grant to him to find the Lord's mercy in that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well.
どうか、主がかの日に、あわれみを彼に賜わるように。彼がエペソで、どれほどわたしに仕えてくれたかは、だれよりもあなたがよく知っている。
