< 2 Samuel 6 >

1 And David again gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
2 And David arose, and went with all the people who were with him to Baalah, that is, Kiriath Jearim of Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called there by the name of Jehovah enthroned on the cherubim.
And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of Yhwh of Armies that dwelleth between the cherubims.
3 And they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was on the hill. And Uzza and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, guided the cart
And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.
4 with the ark; and Ahio was walking in front of the ark.
And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.
5 And David and the children of Israel played before Jehovah with all their strength and with songs, and with harps, and with stringed instruments, and with tambourines, and with castanets, and with cymbals.
And David and all the house of Israel played before Yhwh on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
6 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nodan, Uzza reached out his hand to the ark of God, to steady it; for the oxen stumbled.
And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
7 And Jehovah became angry at Uzza; and God struck him there for his error; and there he died before God.
And the anger of Yhwh was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.
8 And David was displeased, because Jehovah had broken forth on Uzza; and he called that place Perez Uzza, to this day.
And David was displeased, because Yhwh had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez–uzzah to this day.
9 And David was afraid of Jehovah that day; and he said, "How can the ark of God come to me?" Now the ark of Jehovah arrived,
And David was afraid of Yhwh that day, and said, How shall the ark of Yhwh come to me?
10 but David was not willing to move the ark of Jehovah with him to the City of David; so David diverted it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
So David would not remove the ark of Yhwh unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obed–edom the Gittite.
11 And the ark of Jehovah remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months, and Jehovah blessed Obed-Edom and all his house.
And the ark of Yhwh continued in the house of Obed–edom the Gittite three months: And Yhwh blessed Obed–edom, and all his household.
12 And it was told king David, saying, "Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him because of the ark of God." And David said, "I will bring back the blessing to my house." And David went and brought up the ark of Jehovah from the house of Obed-Edom into the City of David with joy.
And it was told king David, saying, Yhwh hath blessed the house of Obed–edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed–edom into the city of David with gladness.
13 And it was so, that, when those who bore the ark had gone six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened calf.
And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of Yhwh had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
14 And David danced before Jehovah with all his might; and he was clothed in a linen ephod.
And David danced before Yhwh with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15 And David and all Israel brought up the ark of Jehovah with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of Yhwh with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
16 Now, as the ark entered the City of David, Mikal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before Jehovah; and she despised him in her heart.
And as the ark of Yhwh came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before Yhwh; and she despised him in her heart.
17 And they brought in the ark of Jehovah, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had set up for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Jehovah.
And they brought in the ark of Yhwh, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Yhwh.
18 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Jehovah of hosts.
And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yhwh of Armies.
19 And he gave to all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, both to men and women, to everyone a portion of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake. So all the people departed everyone to his house.
And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.
20 And then David returned to bless his household. Mikal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David. And she greeted him, and said, "How glorious the king of Israel was today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the servants of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself."
Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
21 And David said to Mikal, "I was dancing before Jehovah. Blessed be Jehovah, who chose me above your father, and above all his house, to appoint me prince over his people Israel; therefore I will celebrate before Jehovah.
And David said unto Michal, It was before Yhwh, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of Yhwh, over Israel: therefore will I play before Yhwh.
22 And I will be yet more vile than this, and will be lowly in your eyes. But of the servants of whom you have spoken, they shall honor me."
And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
23 And Mikal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.
Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
