2 Kings 7

1 Elisha said, "Hear the word of Jehovah. Thus says Jehovah, 'Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'"

൧അപ്പോൾ എലീശാ: “യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് കേൾക്കുവിൻ; നാളെ ഈ നേരത്ത് ശമര്യയുടെ പടിവാതില്ക്കൽ ശേക്കെലിന് ഒരു സെയാ ഗോതമ്പുമാവും ശേക്കലിന് രണ്ടു സെയാ യവവും വില്ക്കും എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

2 Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, "Look, if Jehovah made windows in heaven, could this thing be?" He said, "Look, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it."

൨രാജാവിന് കൈത്താങ്ങൽ കൊടുക്കുന്ന അകമ്പടിനായകൻ ദൈവപുരുഷനോട്: “യഹോവ ആകാശത്തിൽ കിളിവാതിലുകൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയാലും ഈ കാര്യം സാധിക്കുമോ?” എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന് അവൻ: “നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ട് നീ അത് കാണും; എങ്കിലും നീ അതിൽനിന്ന് തിന്നുകയില്ല” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

3 Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate. And they said to one another, "Why do we sit here until we die?

൩അന്ന് കുഷ്ഠരോഗികളായ നാല് പേർ പടിവാതില്ക്കൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവർ തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ: “നാം ഇവിടെ കിടന്ന് മരിക്കുന്നത് എന്തിന്?

4 If we say, 'We will enter into the city,' then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. If we sit still here, we also die. Now therefore come, and let us surrender to the army of the Arameans. If they save us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die."

൪പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നാൽ അവിടെ ക്ഷാമമായിരിക്കുകകൊണ്ട് നാം ചിലപ്പോൾ അവിടെവെച്ച് മരിക്കും; ഇവിടെ ആയിരുന്നാലും മരിക്കും. അതുകൊണ്ട് വരുക, നമുക്ക് അരാമ്യപാളയത്തിൽ പോകാം; അവർ നമ്മെ ജീവനോടെ വച്ചാൽ നാം ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും; അവർ നമ്മെ കൊന്നാൽ നാം അതിനും തയാറായിരിക്കണം” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

5 They rose up in the twilight, to go to the camp of the Arameans. When they had come to the outermost part of the camp of the Arameans, look, there was no man there.

൫അങ്ങനെ അവർ അരാംപാളയത്തിൽ പോകുവാൻ സന്ധ്യാസമയത്ത് പുറപ്പെട്ട് അരാംപാളയത്തിന്റെ അടുത്ത് വന്നപ്പോൾ അവിടെ ആരെയും കണ്ടില്ല.

6 For Jehovah had made the army of the Arameans to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great army: and they said one to another, Look, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come on us.

൬കർത്താവ് അരാമ്യസൈന്യത്തെ രഥങ്ങളുടെയും കുതിരകളുടെയും മഹാസൈന്യത്തിന്റെയും ആരവം കേൾപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ: “ഇതാ, നമ്മുടെനേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിനായി യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവ് ഹിത്യരാജാക്കന്മാരെയും ഈജിപ്റ്റ് രാജാക്കന്മാരെയും നമുക്ക് വിരോധമായി കൂലിക്ക് വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

7 Therefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their donkeys, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

൭അതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തുതന്നേ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ഓടിപ്പോയി; കൂടാരങ്ങൾ, കുതിരകൾ, കഴുതകൾ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം പാളയത്തിൽ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് ജീവരക്ഷക്കായി ഓടിപ്പോയിരുന്നു.

8 When these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and ate and drink, and carried there silver, and gold, and clothing, and went and hid it. Then they came back, and entered into another tent, and carried there also, and went and hid it.

൮ആ കുഷ്ഠരോഗികൾ പാളയത്തിന്റെ സമീപം എത്തി ഒരു കൂടാരത്തിനകത്ത് കയറി തിന്നുകുടിച്ചശേഷം അവിടെനിന്ന് വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി ഒളിച്ചുവെച്ചു; മടങ്ങിവന്ന് മറ്റൊരു കൂടാരത്തിനകത്ത് കയറി അതിൽനിന്നും സാധനങ്ങൾ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി ഒളിച്ചുവച്ചു.

9 Then they said one to another, "We aren't doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we keep silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let us go and tell the king's household."

൯പിന്നെ അവർ തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ: “നാം ചെയ്യുന്നത് ശരിയല്ല; ഇന്ന് സദ്വർത്തമാനദിവസമല്ലോ; നാമോ മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്നു; നേരം പുലരുംവരെ നാം താമസിച്ചാൽ നമുക്ക് കുറ്റം വരും; ആകയാൽ വരുവിൻ; നാം ചെന്നു രാജധാനിയിൽ വിവരം അറിയിക്കുക”. എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

10 So they came and called to the gatekeepers of the city; and they told them, saying, "We came to the camp of the Arameans, and, look, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were."

൧൦അങ്ങനെ അവർ പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കൽ ചെന്ന് കാവല്ക്കാരനെ വിളിച്ചു: “ഞങ്ങൾ അരാംപാളയത്തിൽ പോയിരുന്നു; അവിടെ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും ഇല്ല; ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേൾപ്പാനുമില്ല; കുതിരകളും കഴുതകളും കെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്ന പോലെ നില്ക്കുന്നു; കൂടാരങ്ങളും അതുപോലെ തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

11 The gatekeepers called out, and it was reported to the king's household within.

൧൧അവൻ മറ്റ് കാവല്ക്കാരെ വിളിച്ചു; അവർ അകത്ത് രാജധാനിയിൽ അറിവുകൊടുത്തു.

12 The king arose in the night, and said to his servants, "I will now show you what the Arameans have done to us. They know that we are hungry. Therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, 'When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.'"

൧൨രാജാവ് രാത്രിയിൽ തന്നേ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ഭൃത്യന്മാരോട്: “അരാമ്യർ നമ്മോടു ചെയ്തത് എന്തെന്ന് ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞുതരാം; നാം വിശന്നിരിക്കയാകുന്നു എന്ന് അവർക്ക് അറിയാം. ‘അവർ പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തുവരും; അപ്പോൾ നമുക്ക് അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിക്കുകയും പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യാം’ എന്ന ഉറപ്പോടെ അവർ പാളയം വിട്ടുപോയി വയലിൽ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കയാകുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

13 And one of his servants answered, "Please let some take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Look, they are like the whole multitude of Israel who have already perished. Let us send and see."

൧൩അതിന് അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരിൽ ഒരുവൻ: “പട്ടണത്തിൽ ശേഷിച്ച അഞ്ച് കുതിരകളെ കൊണ്ടുവരട്ടെ; നാം ആളയച്ച് നോക്കിക്കേണം; അവർ ഒന്നുകിൽ ഇവിടെ പാർത്ത്, ശേഷം യിസ്രായേൽ ജനത്തെപ്പോലെ ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ട് മരിക്കും; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അരാമ്യപാളയത്തിൽ വച്ച് നശിച്ച് പോകും” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

14 They took therefore two chariots with horses; and the king sent after the army of the Arameans, saying, "Go and see."

൧൪അങ്ങനെ അവർ കുതിരകളെ കെട്ടിയ രണ്ട് രഥങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; രാജാവ് അവരെ അരാമ്യസൈന്യത്തിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ അയച്ചു: “നിങ്ങൾ ചെന്ന് നോക്കുവിൻ” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചു.

15 They went after them to the Jordan; and look, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Arameans had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned, and told the king.

൧൫അവർ യോർദ്ദാൻവരെ അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; എന്നാൽ അരാമ്യർ പലായനം ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും മറ്റു സാധനങ്ങളുംകൊണ്ട് വഴിയൊക്കെ നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; ദൂതന്മാർ മടങ്ങിവന്ന് വിവരം രാജാവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

16 The people went out, and plundered the camp of the Arameans. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of Jehovah.

൧൬അങ്ങനെ ജനം പുറപ്പെട്ട് അരാംപാളയം കൊള്ളയിട്ടു. യഹോവയുടെ വചനപ്രകാരം അന്ന് ശേക്കെലിന് ഒരു സെയാ ഗോതമ്പുമാവും ശേക്കെലിന് രണ്ടു സെയാ യവവും വിറ്റു.

17 The king appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate: and the people trod on him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.

൧൭രാജാവ് തനിക്ക് കൈത്താങ്ങൽ കൊടുക്കുന്ന അകമ്പടിനായകനെ വാതില്ക്കൽ വിചാരകനായി നിയമിച്ചിരുന്നു; ജനം ധാന്യത്തിനായുള്ള തിരക്കിൽ അവനെ ചവിട്ടി കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു; രാജാവ് ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നതുപോലെ അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു.

18 It happened, as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, "Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria";

൧൮“നാളെ ഈ നേരത്ത് ശമര്യയുടെ പടിവാതില്ക്കൽ ശേക്കെലിന് രണ്ടു സെയാ യവവും ശേക്കെലിന് ഒരു സെയാ ഗോതമ്പുമാവും വില്ക്കും” എന്ന് ദൈവപുരുഷൻ രാജാവിനോട് പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ഈ അകമ്പടിനായകൻ ദൈവപുരുഷനോട്:

19 and that captain answered the man of God, and said, "Now, look, if Jehovah should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be?" and he said, "Look, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it."

൧൯“യഹോവ ആകാശത്തിൽ കിളിവാതിലുകൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയാലും ഈ വാക്കുപോലെ സംഭവിക്കുമോ?” എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന് അവൻ: “നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ട് നീ അത് കാണും; എങ്കിലും നീ അതിൽനിന്ന് തിന്നുകയില്ല” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

20 It happened like that to him; for the people trod on him in the gate, and he died.

൨൦അപ്രകാരം തന്നെ അവന് ഭവിച്ചു; പടിവാതില്ക്കൽവച്ചു ജനം അവനെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി.
