< 2 Kings 23 >
1 The king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
Awo kabaka n’ayita abakadde bonna aba Yuda n’ab’omu Yerusaalemi.
2 The king went up to the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the scroll of the covenant which was found in the house of Jehovah.
N’ayambuka mu yeekaalu ya Mukama ne bakabona, ne bannabbi, n’abantu bonna okuva ku wa wansi okutuukira ddala ku wa waggulu mu bitiibwa byabwe. N’asoma ebigambo eby’omu Kitabo eky’Endagaano ekyali kizuuliddwa mu yeekaalu ya Mukama, nga bonna bawulira.
3 The king stood by the pillar, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and all his soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this scroll; and all the people stood to the covenant.
Awo kabaka n’ayimirira okuliraana empagi n’azza obuggya endagaano ne Mukama, okutambuliranga mu kkubo lya Mukama, n’okukwatanga amateeka ge, n’okutambuliranga mu mpya ze, n’okugonderanga ebiragiro bye, n’omutima gwe gwonna, n’emmeeme ye yonna, ng’akakasa ebyawandiikibwa ebyali mu kitabo ekyo. Awo abantu bonna ne beewaayo okuzza endagaano obuggya.
4 The king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the threshold, to bring forth out of Jehovah's temple all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the Asherah, and for all the host of heaven, and he burned them outside of Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.
Awo kabaka n’alagira Kirukiya kabona asinga obukulu ne bakabona abaamuddiriranga, wamu n’abaggazi okuggya mu yeekaalu ya Mukama ebintu byonna ebya Baali n’ebya Asera, n’eby’eggye lyonna ery’omu ggulu, n’abyokera ebweru wa Yerusaalemi mu ttale eriri mu kiwonvu kya Kiduloni, evvu n’alitwala e Beseri.
5 He put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
N’agoba bakabona abaasinzanga ebifaananyi abaali balondeddwa bassekabaka ba Yuda okwoterezanga obubaane mu bifo ebigulumivu mu bibuga ebya Yuda n’okwetooloola Yerusaalemi, n’abo abayoterezanga obubaane eri Baali n’enjuba n’omwezi, n’eri emunyeenye n’eri eggye lyonna ery’omu ggulu.
6 He brought out the Asherah from the house of Jehovah, outside of Jerusalem, to the Kidron Valley, and burned it in the Kidron Valley, and beat it to dust, and cast its dust on the graves of the common people.
N’aggya empagi ya Asera mu yeekaalu ya Mukama, n’agitwala ebweru wa Yerusaalemi mu kiwonvu ekya Kiduloni, n’agyokera eyo. N’agisekulasekula n’asaasaanya evvu lyayo ku malaalo ag’abantu abaabulijjo.
7 He broke down the living quarters of the temple prostitutes, that were in the house of Jehovah, where the women wove coverings for the Asherah.
Ate era yamenyaamenya n’ennyumba ez’abaalyanga ebisiyaga ezaali mu yeekaalu ya Mukama, era eyo abakazi gye baalukiriranga Asera ebitimbibwa.
8 He brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.
Awo Yosiya n’aleeta bakabona bonna okuva mu bibuga bya Yuda, n’ayonoona ebifo ebigulumivu okuva e Geba okutuuka e Beeruseba, bakabona gye baayoterezanga obubaane, era n’amenyaamenya amasabo agaali okumpi ne wankaaki ow’oku Mulyango gwa Yoswa, omukulembeze ow’ekibuga, agaali ku luuyi olwa kkono olwa wankaaki ow’ekibuga.
9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places did not come up to the altar of Jehovah in Jerusalem, but they ate unleavened bread among their brothers.
Newaakubadde nga bakabona bali ab’oku bifo ebigulumivu tebaweerezanga ku kyoto kya Mukama mu Yerusaalemi, balyanga emigaati egitali mizimbulukuse wamu ne bakabona bannaabwe.
10 He defiled Topheth, which is in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
Yavvoola era n’amenyaamenya ekyoto kya Tofesi ekyali mu Kiwonvu ky’abaana ba Kinomu, obutaganya muntu yenna kuwaayo mwana we owoobulenzi newaakubadde owoobuwala ng’ekiweebwayo eri Moleki.
11 He took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entrance of the house of Jehovah, by the room of Nathan Melech the officer, who was in the court; and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
Era yaggyawo n’embalaasi ezaali mu mulyango gwa yeekaalu, bassekabaka ba Yuda ze baali bawonze eri enjuba, era n’ayokya amagaali ze gaasikanga. Zaabeeranga mu luggya okuliraana n’ekisenge ekyali eky’omukungu Nasanumereki.
12 The king broke down the altars that were on the roof of the upper room of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of Jehovah, and beat them down from there, and cast their dust into the Kidron Valley.
Yamenyaamenya n’ebyoto bassekabaka ba Yuda bye baali bazimbye ku kasolya okumpi n’ekisenge ekya waggulu ekya Akazi, era n’ebyoto Manase bye yali azimbye mu mpya zombi eza yeekaalu ya Mukama. Byonna yabiggyayo, n’abimenyaamenya, enfuufu yaabyo n’agiyiwa mu kiwonvu ekya Kiduloni.
13 The king defiled the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mountain of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the people of Ammon.
Era kabaka n’ayonoona n’ebifo ebigulumivu ebyali ebuvanjuba w’e Yerusaalemi ku luuyi olwa bukiikaddyo ku lusozi olw’okuzikirira, ebyo Sulemaani kabaka wa Isirayiri bye yazimbira bakatonda ab’omuzizo: Asutoleesi katonda omukazi ow’Abasidoni, ne Kemosi ow’Abamowaabu, ne Mirukomu ow’Abamoni.
14 He broke in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, and filled their places with the bones of men.
N’amenyaamenya empagi, n’atemaatema empagi za Asera era ebifo ebyo n’abijjuza amagumba g’abantu.
15 Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, even that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place and beat it to dust, and burned the Asherah.
Era n’ekyoto ekyali e Beseri, n’ekifo ekigulumivu ekyaleetera Isirayiri okwonoona, Yerobowaamu mutabani wa Nebati bye yali azimbye, byonna Yosiya n’abimenyaamenya. N’ayokya era n’asekulasekula ekifo ekigulumivu okutuusa lwe kyafuuka enfuufu era n’ayokya n’empagi eya Asera.
16 And as Josiah turned himself, he saw the tombs that were there in the mountain. And he sent, and took the bones out of the tombs, and burned them on the altar, and defiled it, according to the word of Jehovah which the man of God proclaimed, when Jeroboam stood by the altar at the feast. And he turned and raised his eyes to the tomb of the man of God who proclaimed these things.
Awo Yosiya bwe yatunulatunula, n’alaba amalaalo agaali ku lusozi, n’agenda n’aggyamu amagumba g’abafu n’agokera ku kyoto n’akyonoona, ng’ekigambo kya Mukama bwe kyali omusajja wa Katonda kye yalangirira.
17 Then he said, "What monument is that which I see?" The men of the city told him, "It is the tomb of the man of God, who came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that you have done against the altar of Bethel."
Awo kabaka n’abuuza nti, “Kijjukizo ki ekyo kye ndaba?” Abasajja ab’ekibuga ne bamuddamu nti, “Ago ge malaalo ag’omusajja wa Katonda eyava mu Yuda n’alangirira ebigambo ebikwata ku kyoto eky’e Beseri, by’okikoze.”
18 He said, "Let him be. Let no man move his bones." So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria.
N’abagamba nti, “Mugaleke, era temuganya muntu yenna kukwata ku magumba ge.” Awo ne batakwata ku magumba ge, wadde aga nnabbi ow’e Samaliya.
19 All the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke Jehovah to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.
N’amasabo gonna agaali mu bifo ebigulumivu bassekabaka ba Yuda bye baali bazimbye mu bibuga bya Samaliya ne baleetera obusungu bwa Mukama okubuubuuka, Yosiya n’agavvoola era n’agaggyawo nga bwe yakola e Beseri.
20 He killed all the priests of the high places that were there, on the altars, and burned men's bones on them; and he returned to Jerusalem.
Yosiya n’atta bakabona bonna abaaweerezanga mu bifo ebigulumivu ku byoto byayo, era amagumba gaabwe n’agokera okwo, n’oluvannyuma n’addayo e Yerusaalemi.
21 The king commanded all the people, saying, "Keep the Passover to Jehovah your God, as it is written in this scroll of the covenant."
Awo kabaka n’alagira abantu bonna ng’agamba nti, “Mukwate Okuyitako kwa Mukama Katonda wammwe ng’ekyawandiikibwa bwe kiri mu Kitabo eky’endagaano.”
22 Surely there was not kept such a Passover from the days of the judges who judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
Okuviira ddala ku mirembe gy’abalamuzi, ne ku mirembe gya bassekabaka ba Isirayiri n’aba Yuda, tewaaliwo kukwata Mbaga ey’Okuyitako.
23 but in the eighteenth year of king Josiah was this Passover kept to Jehovah in Jerusalem.
Naye mu mwaka ogw’ekkumi n’omunaana ogw’obufuzi bwa kabaka Yosiya, Embaga eyo n’ebaawo mu Yerusaalemi.
24 Moreover Josiah removed the mediums, and spiritists, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of Jehovah.
Ate era n’abafumu, n’aboogeza emizimu, n’ebifaananyi, n’eby’emizizo byonna ebyali mu Yuda ne mu Yerusaalemi, Yosiya, n’abiwera. Ekyo yakikola okutuukiriza ebigambo eby’etteeka eryali mu kitabo Kirukiya kabona kye yazuula mu Yeekaalu ya Mukama.
25 Like him was there no king before him, who turned to Jehovah with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
Era tewali kabaka eyasooka Yosiya wadde eyamuddirira eyamufaanana era eyakyukira Mukama n’omutima gwe gwonna, n’emmeeme ye yonna era n’amaanyi ge gonna, ng’agoberera Amateeka ga Musa.
26 Notwithstanding, Jehovah did not turn from the fierceness of his great wrath, with which his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocation with which Manasseh had provoked him.
Kyokka Mukama n’atakendeeza ku busungu bwe obungi obwabuubuukira ku Yuda, olw’ebikolwa byonna ebya Manase ebyaleetera Mukama okusunguwala.
27 Jehovah said, "I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, even Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, 'My name shall be there.'"
Awo Mukama n’ayogera nti, “Ndiggyawo Yuda mu maaso gange nga bwe nnaggyawo Isirayiri, era n’ekibuga Yerusaalemi kye nneeroboza, wamu ne yeekaalu eno gye nayogerako nti, ‘Erinnya lyange linaabanga omwo,’ siribisaako nate mwoyo.”
28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Ebyafaayo ebirala byonna eby’omu mirembe gya Yosiya, ne bye yakola byonna, tebyawandiikibwa mu kitabo eky’ebyomumirembe gya bassekabaka ba Yuda?
29 In his days Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Perath: and king Josiah went against him; and Pharaoh Necoh killed him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
Awo mu biro ebyo, Falaawo Neko nga ye kabaka wa Misiri n’ayambuka okutabaala kabaka w’e Bwasuli ku Mugga Fulaati; kabaka Yosiya n’agenda okumubeera, naye Falaawo Neko olwamulengera ng’ajja, n’amuttira e Megiddo.
30 His servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. The people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's place.
Abaddu ba Yosiya ne bateeka omulambo gwe mu gaali ne baguggya e Megiddo ne bagutwala e Yerusaalemi, ne bamuziika mu ntaana ye. Awo abantu ab’omu nsi ne batwala Yekoyakaazi mutabani wa Yosiya ne bamufukako amafuta ne bamufuula kabaka n’asikira kitaawe okuba kabaka.
31 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
Yekoyakaazi we yaliira obwakabaka yalina emyaka amakumi abiri mu esatu, era n’afugira mu Yerusaalemi okumala emyezi esatu. Nnyina erinnya lye yali Kamutali muwala wa Yeremiya ow’e Libuna.
32 He did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers had done.
N’akola ebibi mu maaso ga Mukama nga bajjajjaabe bwe baakola.
33 Pharaoh Necoh put him in bonds at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of one hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
Falaawo Neko n’amuggya ku bwakabaka n’amusibira mu masamba e Libula mu nsi y’e Kamasi obutaddayo kufuga mu Yerusaalemi, era n’asalira Yuda omusolo ogw’effeeza ttani ssatu ne bisatu byakuna ne zaabu kilo amakumi asatu mu nnya.
34 Pharaoh Necoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the place of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim: but he took Jehoahaz away; and he came to Egypt, and died there.
Awo Falaawo Neko n’afuula Eriyakimu mutabani wa Yosiya kabaka, n’akyusa n’erinnya lye, n’amutuuma Yekoyakimu. N’aggyayo Yekoyakaazi, n’amutwala e Misiri, era eyo gye yafiira.
35 Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of everyone according to his taxation, to give it to Pharaoh Necoh.
Awo Yekoyakimu n’awangayo effeeza ne zaabu nga Falaawo Neko bwe yalagira. Era okusobola okutuukirizanga ekyo, Yekoyakimu yawoozanga abantu, n’abaggyangako effeeza ne zaabu nga buli muntu bwe yagerekebwa.
36 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Zebidah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
Yekoyakimu we yafuukira kabaka yali awezezza emyaka amakumi abiri mu etaano, era n’afugira mu Yerusaalemi okumala emyaka kkumi na gumu. Nnyina erinnya lye yali Zebida muwala wa Pedaya ow’e Luuma.
37 He did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers had done.
Naye n’akola ebibi mu maaso ga Mukama, nga bajjajjaabe be bwe baakola.
