1 Samuel 11

1 After about a month, Nahash the Ammonite came up and camped against Jabesh Gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you."

۱ و ناحاش عمونی برآمده، در برابر یابیش جلعاد اردو زد، و جمیع اهل یابیش به ناحاش گفتند: «با ما عهد ببند و تو را بندگی خواهیم نمود.»

2 And Nahash the Ammonite said to them, "On this condition I will make a covenant with you, that all your right eyes are put out; and I will make it a disgrace on all Israel."

۲ ناحاش عمونی به ایشان گفت: «به این شرط با شما عهد خواهم بست که چشمان راست جمیع شما کنده شود، و این را بر تمامی اسرائیل عار خواهم ساخت.»

3 The elders of Jabesh said to him, "Give us seven days, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel; and then, if there is no one to save us, we will come out to you."

۳ و مشایخ یابیش به وی گفتند: «ما را هفت روز مهلت بده تا رسولان به تمامی حدود اسرائیل بفرستیم، و اگر برای مارهاننده‌ای نباشد نزد تو بیرون خواهیم آمد.»

4 Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

۴ پس رسولان به جبعه شاول آمده، این سخنان رابه گوش قوم رسانیدند، و تمامی قوم آواز خود رابلند کرده، گریستند.

5 Look, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, "What ails the people that they weep?" They told him the words of the men of Jabesh.

۵ و اینک شاول در عقب گاوان از صحرامی آمد، و شاول گفت: «قوم را چه شده است که می‌گریند؟» پس سخنان مردان یابیش را به او بازگفتند.

6 The Spirit of God came mightily on Saul when he heard those words, and his anger was kindled greatly.

۶ و چون شاول این سخنان را شنید روح خدا بر وی مستولی گشته، خشمش به شدت افروخته شد.

7 He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, "Whoever doesn't come forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen." The dread of Jehovah fell on the people, and they came out as one man.

۷ پس یک جفت گاو را گرفته، آنهارا پاره پاره نمود و به‌دست قاصدان به تمامی حدود اسرائیل فرستاده، گفت: «هر‌که در عقب شاول و سموئیل بیرون نیاید، به گاوان او چنین کرده شود.» آنگاه ترس خداوند بر قوم افتاد که مثل مرد واحد بیرون آمدند.

8 He numbered them in Bezek; and the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.

۸ و ایشان را در بازق شمرد و بنی‌اسرائیل سیصد هزار نفر و مردان یهودا سی هزار بودند.

9 And he said to the messengers who came, "Thus you shall tell the men of Jabesh, 'Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.'" The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.

۹ پس به رسولانی که آمده بودند گفتند: «به مردمان یابیش جلعاد چنین گویید: فردا وقتی که آفتاب گرم شود برای شماخلاصی خواهد شد.» و رسولان آمده، به اهل یابیش خبر دادند، پس ایشان شاد شدند.

10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you."

۱۰ ومردان یابیش گفتند: «فردا نزد شما بیرون خواهیم آمد تا هرچه در نظرتان پسند آید به ما بکنید.»

11 It was so on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.

۱۱ و در فردای آن روز شاول قوم را به سه فرقه تقسیم نمود و ایشان در پاس صبح به میان لشکرگاه آمده، عمونیان را تا گرم شدن آفتاب می‌زدند، و باقی ماندگان پراکنده شدند به حدی که دو نفر از ایشان در یک جا نماندند.

12 The people said to Samuel, "Who is he who said, 'Shall Saul reign over us?' Bring those men, that we may put them to death."

۱۲ و قوم به سموئیل گفتند: «کیست که گفته است! آیا شاول بر ما سلطنت نماید؟ آن کسان رابیاورید تا ایشان را بکشیم.»

13 Saul said, "There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today Jehovah has worked deliverance in Israel."

۱۳ اما شاول گفت: «کسی‌امروز کشته نخواهد شد زیرا که خداوندامروز در اسرائیل نجات به عمل آورده است.»

14 Then Samuel said to the people, "Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there."

۱۴ و سموئیل به قوم گفت: «بیایید تا به جلجال برویم و سلطنت را در آنجا از سر نو برقرار کنیم.»

15 All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Jehovah in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before Jehovah; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

۱۵ پس تمامی قوم به جلجال رفتند، و آنجا درجلجال، شاول را به حضور خداوند پادشاه ساختند، و در آنجا ذبایح سلامتی به حضورخداوند ذبح نموده، شاول و تمامی مردمان اسرائیل در آنجا شادی عظیم نمودند.
