1 Corinthians 10
1 Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
Nem akarom pedig, hogy ne tudjátok, atyámfiai, hogy a mi atyáink mindnyájan felhő alatt voltak, és mindnyájan tengeren mentek át,
2 and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
és mindnyájan Mózesre keresztelkedtek meg a felhőben és a tengerben,
3 and all ate the same spiritual food;
és mindnyájan ugyanazt a lelki eledelt ették,
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.
és mindnyájan ugyanazt a lelki italt itták, mert ittak a lelki kősziklából, amely követte őket. Ez a kőszikla pedig Krisztus volt.
5 However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
De azoknak többségét nem kedvelte Isten, úgyhogy elhullottak a pusztában.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
Ezek példák számunkra, hogy mi ne kívánjunk gonosz dolgokat, ahogy azok kívánták.
7 Neither be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."
Bálványimádók se legyetek, ahogy azok közül némelyek, amint meg van írva: „Leült a nép enni, inni, és felkelt játszani“.
8 Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.
Ne is paráználkodjunk, ahogy azok közül némelyek paráználkodtak, és elestek egy nap huszonháromezren.
9 Neither let us test the Christ, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.
Krisztust se kísértsük, ahogy azok közül kísértették némelyek, és elvesztek a kígyóktól.
10 Neither grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.
Ne is zúgolódjatok, ahogy azok közül zúgolódtak némelyek, és elvesztek a pusztító (angyal) által.
11 Now these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come. (aiōn g165)
Mindezek példaképpen estek rajtuk, de a mi tanulságunkra írattak meg, akikhez az idők vége elérkezett. (aiōn g165)
12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he does not fall.
Azért aki azt hiszi, hogy áll, vigyázzon, hogy el ne essék.
13 No temptation has taken you except what is common to humanity. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Nem egyéb csak emberi kísértés esett rajtatok, de hű az Isten, aki nem hagy titeket erőtökön felül kísérteni, sőt a kísértéssel együtt a kimenekedést is megadja majd, hogy elviselhessétek.
14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
Ezért, szeretteim, kerüljétek a bálványimádást.
15 I speak as to wise people. Judge what I say.
Mint okosokhoz szólok, ítéljétek meg ti magatok, amit mondok.
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a sharing of the body of Christ?
A hálaadásnak pohara, amelyet megáldunk, nem a Krisztus vérével való közösségünk-e? A kenyér, amelyet megszegünk, nem a Krisztus testével való közösségünk-e?
17 Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.
Mert egy a kenyér, egy test vagyunk sokan, mert mindnyájan az egy kenyérből részesedünk.
18 Consider Israel according to the flesh. Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?
Nézzétek a test szerint való Izraelt! Akik az áldozatot eszik, nincsenek-e közösségben az oltárral?
19 What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
Mit mondok tehát? Talán azt, hogy a bálvány vagy a bálványáldozat ér valamit?
20 But I say that the things which pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I do not desire that you would have fellowship with demons.
Éppen ellenkezőleg: amit a pogányok áldoznak, az ördögöknek áldozzák és nem Istennek, én pedig nem akarom, hogy az ördögökkel legyetek közösségben.
21 You cannot both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot both partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.
Nem ihatjátok az Úr poharát és az ördögök poharát. Nem lehettek az Úr asztalának és az ördögök asztalának részesei!
22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
Vagy haragra ingereljük az Urat? Vagy erősebbek vagyunk nála?
23 "All things are lawful," but not all things are profitable. "All things are lawful," but not all things build up.
Minden szabad, de nem minden használ. Minden szabad, de nem minden épít.
24 Let no one seek his own, but his neighbor's good.
Senki se keresse a maga előnyét, hanem ki-ki a másét
25 Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,
Mindent megehettek, amit a mészárszékben árulnak, semmit sem kérdezősködve lelkiismereti okokból.
26 for "the earth is the Lord's, and its fullness."
„Az Úré a föld és annak teljessége!“
27 But if one of those who do not believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.
Ha pedig valaki a hitetlenek közül meghív titeket, és el akartok menni, mindent megehettek, amit elétek hoznak, és ne kérdezősködjetek lelkiismereti okokból.
28 But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience.
De ha valaki ezt mondja nektek: „Ez bálványáldozati hús“, ne egyétek meg amiatt, aki erre figyelmeztetett, és a lelkiismeret miatt.
29 Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other's conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?
De nem a te lelkiismeretedre célzok, hanem az övére. Az én szabadságomat miért ítélje meg más lelkiismerete?
30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for that for which I give thanks?
Ha pedig én hálaadással élek vele, miért ítélnek meg azért, amiért én hálát adok?
31 Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Tehát akár esztek, akár isztok, akármit cselekedtek, mindent az Isten dicsőségére tegyetek.
32 Give no occasions for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God;
Ne botránkoztassátok meg se a zsidókat, se a görögöket, se az Isten gyülekezetét.
33 even as I also please all people in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
Ahogyan én is mindenkinek kedvében járok, nem keresve a magam hasznát, hanem a többiekét, hogy üdvözüljenek.
