1 Chronicles 5
1 The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn; but, because he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; and not to be regarded in the genealogy as the firstborn.
Fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël. — Car il était le premier-né; mais, parce qu’il souilla la couche de son père, son droit d’aînesse fut donné aux fils de Joseph, fils d’Israël, non, toutefois, pour que Joseph fût inscrit dans les généalogie comme premier-né.
2 For Judah prevailed above his brothers, and a leader descended from him; but the birthright was Joseph's: )
Car Judas fut puissant parmi ses frères, et de lui est issu un prince. Mais le droit d’aînesse est à Joseph. —
3 the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
Fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël: Enoch, Phallu, Esron et Charmi.
4 The descendants of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
Fils de Joël: Samia, son fils; Gog, son fils; Séméï, son fils;
5 Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,
Micha, son fils; Réïa, son fils; Baal, son fils;
6 Beerah his son, whom Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive: he was leader of the Reubenites.
Bééra, son fils, que Thelgathphalnasar, roi d’Assyrie, emmena captif: il fut un des princes des Rubénites. —
7 His brothers by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned: the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,
Frères de Bééra, chacun selon sa famille, tels qu’ils sont inscrits dans les généalogies selon leurs générations: le chef, Jéhiel; Zacharie;
8 and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who lived in Aroer, even to Nebo and Baal Meon:
Bala, fils d’Azaz, fils de Samma, fils de Joël. Bala habitait à Aroër, et jusqu’à Nébo et à Béel-Méon;
9 and eastward he lived even to the entrance of the wilderness from the river Perath, because their livestock were multiplied in the land of Gilead.
à l’orient, il habitait jusqu’à l’entrée du désert, qui va depuis le fleuve de l’Euphrate, car leurs troupeaux étaient nombreux dans le pays de Galaad.
10 In the days of Saul, they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand; and they lived in their tents throughout all the land east of Gilead.
Du temps de Saül, ils firent la guerre aux Agaréens, qui tombèrent entre leurs mains, et ils habitèrent dans leurs tentes, sur tout le côté oriental de Galaad.
11 The descendants of Gad lived across from them, in the land of Bashan as far as Salecah.
Les fils de Gad habitaient vis-à-vis d’eux dans le pays de Basan, jusqu’à Selcha.
12 Joel was chief, and Shapham the second, and Janai judged in Bashan.
C’étaient: le chef, Joël; le second, Saphan, puis Janaï et Saphath, en Basan.
13 Their brothers of their fathers' houses: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.
Leurs frères, d’après leurs maisons patriarcales, étaient: Michaël, Mosollam, Sébé, Joraï, Jachan, Zié et Héber: sept.
14 These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;
Ils étaient fils d’Abihaïl, fils de Huri, fils de Jara, fils de Galaad, fils de Michaël, fils de Jésési, fils de Jeddo, fils de Buz.
15 Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of their fathers' houses.
Achi, fils d’Abdiel, fils de Guni, était chef de leurs maisons patriarcales.
16 They lived in Gilead in Bashan, and in its towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, as far as their borders.
Ils habitaient en Galaad, en Basan, et dans les villes de leurs dépendances, et dans tous les pâturages de Saron jusqu’à leurs extrémités.
17 All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
Tous ces fils de Gad furent enregistrés dans les généalogies du temps de Joatham, roi de Juda, et du temps de Jéroboam, roi d’Israël.
18 The descendants of Reuben and Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skillful in war, were forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty, that were able to go forth to war.
Les fils de Ruben, les Gadites et la demi-tribu de Manassé avaient de vaillants hommes, portant le bouclier et l’épée, tirant de l’arc, et exercés à la guerre, au nombre de quarante quatre mille sept cent soixante, en état d’aller à l’armée.
19 They made war with the Hagrites, with Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.
Ils firent la guerre aux Agaréens, à Jéthur, à Naphis et à Nodab.
20 They were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them; for they cried to God in the battle, and he answered their petition, because they put their trust in him.
Ils furent aidés contre eux, et les Agaréens et tous ceux qui étaient avec eux furent livrés entre leurs mains. Car ils avaient crié vers Dieu pendant le combat, et il les avait exaucés, parce qu’ils s’étaient confiés en lui.
21 They took away their livestock; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men one hundred thousand.
Ils enlevèrent leurs troupeaux, cinquante mille chameaux, deux cent cinquante mille brebis, deux mille ânes, et cent mille personnes,
22 For there fell many slain, because the war was of God. They lived in their place until the captivity.
car il était tombé beaucoup de morts, parce que la guerre était de Dieu. Et ils s’établirent à leur place jusqu’à la captivité.
23 And the descendants of the half-tribe of Manasseh lived in the land. They increased from Bashan to Baal Hermon, and Senir, and Mount Hermon, and in Lebanon.
Les fils de la demi-tribu de Manassé habitaient dans le pays depuis Basan jusqu’à Baal-Hermon et à Sanir, et à la montagne d’Hermon; ils étaient nombreux.
24 These were the heads of their fathers' houses: Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valor, famous men, heads of their fathers' houses.
Voici les chefs de leurs familles: Epher, Jési, Eliel, Ezriel, Jérémia, Odoïa et Jédiel, hommes forts et vaillants, hommes de renom, chefs de leurs maisons patriarcales.
25 They trespassed against the God of their fathers, and prostituted themselves after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
Mais ils furent infidèles au Dieu de leurs pères, et ils se prostituèrent en servant les dieux des peuples du pays que Dieu avait détruits devant eux.
26 The God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river of Gozan, to this day.
Le Dieu d’Israël excita l’esprit de Phul, roi d’Assyrie, et l’esprit de Thelgathphalnasar, roi d’Assyrie; et Thelgathphalnasar emmena captifs les Rubénites, les Gadites et la demi-tribu de Manassé, et il les conduisit à Hala, à Habor, à Ara et au fleuve de Gozan, où ils sont demeurés jusqu’à ce jour.
