< Psalms 61 >
1 [For the Chief Musician. For a stringed instrument. By David.] Hear my cry, God. Listen to my prayer.
“To the chief musician upon Neginah, by David.” Hear, O God, my entreaty; listen to my prayer.
2 From the most remote place of the earth, I will call to you, when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
From the end of the earth will I call unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is too high for me.
3 For you have been a refuge for me, a strong tower from the enemy.
For thou hast been a shelter unto me, a strong tower against the enemy.
4 I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings. (Selah)
Let me sojourn in thy tent to all eternity; let me be sheltered under the covert of thy wings. (Selah)
5 For you, God, have heard my vows. You have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
For thou, O God, hast truly listened to my vows: thou hast given back the heritage of those that fear thy name.
6 You will prolong the king's life; his years shall be for generations.
Oh, add days unto the king's days: may his years be as of many generations.
7 He shall be enthroned in God's presence forever. Appoint your loving kindness and truth, that they may preserve him.
May he abide for ever before God: ordain that kindness and truth may guard him.
8 So I will sing praise to your name forever, that I may fulfill my vows day after day.
So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may pay my vows day by day.
