< Psalms 138 >
1 [By David.] I will give you thanks, LORD, with my whole heart. Before the gods I will sing praises to you.
“By David.” I will praise thee with my whole heart: before [thee], O God, will I sing praise unto thee.
2 I will bow down toward your holy temple, and give thanks to your Name for your loving kindness and for your truth; for you have exalted your Name and your word above all.
I will bow myself down before thy holy temple, and I will thank thy name for thy kindness and for thy truth; for thou hast magnified above all thy name thy promise.
3 In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul.
On the day when I called didst thou answer me, and raise me up with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth will give you thanks, LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth.
All the kings of the earth will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, when they hear the promises of thy mouth.
5 Yes, they will sing of the ways of the LORD; for great is the LORD's glory.
And they will sing on the ways of the Lord; for great is the glory of the Lord.
6 For though the LORD is high, yet he looks after the lowly; but the proud, he knows from afar.
For exalted is the Lord, yet doth he regard the lowly; but the proud he punisheth from afar.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.
If I should walk in the midst of distress, thou wilt revive me: against the wrath of my enemies wilt thou stretch forth thy hand, and thy right hand will save me.
8 The LORD will fulfill that which concerns me; your loving kindness, LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the works of your own hands.
The Lord will accomplish [all] in my behalf; O Lord, thy kindness endureth for ever: the works of thy own hands do not abandon.
