< Proverbs 6 >

1 My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hand in pledge for a stranger;
Ọmọ mi, bí ìwọ bá ṣe onídùúró fún aládùúgbò rẹ, bí ìwọ bá jẹ́ ẹ̀jẹ́ fún àjèjì ènìyàn,
2 You are trapped by the words of your mouth. You are ensnared with the words of your mouth.
bí a bá ti fi ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó sọ dẹkùn mú ọ, tí ọ̀rọ̀ ẹnu rẹ ti kó ọ sí pàkúté.
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, seeing you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor.
Nígbà náà, ṣe èyí, ìwọ ọmọ mi, láti gba ara rẹ níwọ̀n bí o ti kó ṣọ́wọ́ aládùúgbò rẹ: lọ kí o sì rẹ ara rẹ sílẹ̀; bẹ aládùúgbò rẹ dáradára.
4 Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids.
Má ṣe jẹ́ kí oorun kí ó kùn ọ́, tàbí kí o tilẹ̀ tòògbé rárá.
5 Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
Gba ara rẹ sílẹ̀, bí abo èsúró kúrò lọ́wọ́ ọdẹ, bí ẹyẹ kúrò nínú okùn àwọn pẹyẹpẹyẹ.
6 Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;
Tọ èèrà lọ, ìwọ ọ̀lẹ; kíyèsi ìṣe rẹ̀, kí o sì gbọ́n!
7 which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
Kò ní olùdarí, kò sí alábojútó tàbí ọba,
8 provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.
síbẹ̀, a kó ìpèsè rẹ̀ jọ ní àsìkò òjò yóò sì kó oúnjẹ rẹ̀ jọ ní àsìkò ìkórè.
9 How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?
Yóò ti pẹ́ tó tí ìwọ yóò dùbúlẹ̀, ìwọ ọ̀lẹ? Nígbà wo ni ìwọ yóò jí kúrò lójú oorun rẹ?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
Oorun díẹ̀, òògbé díẹ̀, ìkáwọ́gbera láti sinmi díẹ̀.
11 so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.
Òsì yóò sì wá sórí rẹ bí ìgárá ọlọ́ṣà àti àìní bí adigunjalè.
12 A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth;
Ènìyànkénìyàn àti ènìyàn búburú, tí ń ru ẹnu àrékérekè káàkiri,
13 who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers;
tí ó ń ṣẹ́jú pàkòpàkò, ó ń fi ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ sọ̀rọ̀ ó sì ń fi ìka ọwọ́ rẹ̀ júwe,
14 in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.
tí ó ń pète búburú pẹ̀lú ẹ̀tàn nínú ọkàn rẹ̀ ìgbà gbogbo ni ó máa ń dá ìjà sílẹ̀.
15 Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.
Nítorí náà ìdààmú yóò dé bá a ní ìṣẹ́jú akàn; yóò parun lójijì láìsí àtúnṣe.
16 There are six things which the LORD hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
Àwọn ohun mẹ́fà wà tí Olúwa kórìíra, ohun méje ní ó jẹ́ ìríra sí i,
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood;
Ojú ìgbéraga, ahọ́n tó ń parọ́ ọwọ́ tí ń ta ẹ̀jẹ̀ aláìṣẹ̀ sílẹ̀,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,
ọkàn tí ń pète ohun búburú, ẹsẹ̀ tí ó yára láti sáré sínú ìwà ìkà,
19 a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
ajẹ́rìí èké tí ń tú irọ́ jáde lẹ́nu àti ènìyàn tí ń dá ìjà sílẹ̀ láàrín àwọn ọmọ ìyá kan.
20 My son, keep your father's commandment, and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
Ọmọ mi, pa àṣẹ baba rẹ mọ́ má sì ṣe kọ ẹ̀kọ́ ìyá rẹ sílẹ̀.
21 Bind them continually on your heart. Tie them around your neck.
Jẹ́ kí wọn wà nínú ọkàn rẹ láéláé so wọ́n mọ́ ọrùn rẹ.
22 When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.
Nígbà tí ìwọ bá ń rìn, wọn yóò ṣe amọ̀nà rẹ; nígbà tí ìwọ bá sùn, wọn yóò máa ṣe olùṣọ́ rẹ; nígbà tí o bá jí, wọn yóò bá ọ sọ̀rọ̀.
23 For the commandment is a lamp, and the Law is light. Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
Nítorí àwọn àṣẹ yìí jẹ́ fìtílà, ẹ̀kọ́ yìí jẹ́ ìmọ́lẹ̀, àti ìtọ́nisọ́nà ti ìbáwí ni ọ̀nà sí ìyè.
24 to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the foreign woman.
Yóò pa ọ́ mọ́ kúrò lọ́wọ́ obìnrin búburú, kúrò lọ́wọ́ ẹnu dídùn obìnrin àjèjì.
25 Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
Má ṣe ṣe ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ si nínú ọkàn rẹ nítorí ẹwà rẹ tàbí kí o jẹ́ kí ó fi ojú rẹ̀ fà ọ́ mọ́ra.
26 For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
Nítorí pé nípasẹ̀ àgbèrè obìnrin ni ènìyàn fi ń di oníṣù-àkàrà kan, ṣùgbọ́n àyà ènìyàn a máa wá ìyè rẹ̀ dáradára.
27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?
Ǹjẹ́ ọkùnrin ha le è gbé iná lé orí itan kí aṣọ rẹ̀ má sì jóná?
28 Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
Ǹjẹ́ ènìyàn le è máa rìn lórí iná? Kí ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ sì má jóná?
29 So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹni tí ń lọ sùn pẹ̀lú aya aláya; kò sí ẹni tí ó fọwọ́ kàn án tí yóò lọ láìjìyà.
30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry:
Àwọn ènìyàn kì í kẹ́gàn olè tí ó bá jalè nítorí àti jẹun nígbà tí ebi bá ń pa á.
31 but if he is found, he must repay seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.
Síbẹ̀ bí ọwọ́ bá tẹ̀ ẹ́, ó gbọdọ̀ san ìlọ́po méje bí ó tilẹ̀ kó gbogbo ohun tó ní nílé tà.
32 He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ń ṣe àgbèrè kò nírònú; ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá ń ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ ó ń pa ara rẹ̀ run ni.
33 He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
Ìfarapa àti ìtìjú ni tirẹ̀, ẹ̀gàn rẹ̀ kì yóò sì kúrò láéláé.
34 For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won't spare in the day of vengeance.
Nítorí owú yóò ru ìbínú ọkọ sókè, kì yóò sì ṣàánú nígbà tí ó bá ń gbẹ̀san.
35 He won't regard any ransom, neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.
Kò nígbà nǹkan kan bí ohun ìtánràn; yóò kọ àbẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀, bí ó ti wù kí ó pọ̀ tó.
