< Proverbs 15 >

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Jawabu la upole hugeuza ghadhabu, bali neno liumizalo huchochea hasira.
2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.
Ulimi wa mwenye hekima husifu maarifa, bali kinywa cha mpumbavu hufoka upumbavu.
3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
Macho ya Bwana yako kila mahali, yakiwaangalia waovu na wema.
4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
Ulimi uletao uponyaji ni mti wa uzima, bali ulimi udanganyao huponda roho.
5 A fool despises his father's correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.
Mpumbavu hubeza maonyo ya baba yake, bali yeyote akubaliye maonyo huonyesha busara.
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
Nyumba ya mwenye haki ina hazina kubwa, bali mapato ya waovu huwaletea taabu.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.
Midomo ya mwenye hekima hueneza maarifa, bali sivyo ilivyo mioyo ya wapumbavu.
8 The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
Bwana huchukia sana dhabihu za waovu, bali maombi ya wanyofu humfurahisha Mungu.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
Bwana huchukia sana njia ya waovu, bali huwapenda wale wafuatao haki.
10 There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way: whoever hates reproof shall die.
Adhabu kali humngoja yeye aachaye njia; yeye achukiaye maonyo atakufa.
11 Sheol and Abaddon are before the LORD—how much more then the hearts of human beings. (Sheol h7585)
Mauti na Uharibifu viko wazi mbele za Bwana: je, si zaidi sana mioyo ya wanadamu! (Sheol h7585)
12 A scoffer doesn't love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.
Mwenye mzaha huchukia maonyo; hatataka shauri kwa mwenye hekima.
13 A glad heart makes a cheerful face; but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
Moyo wenye furaha hufanya uso uchangamke, bali maumivu ya moyoni huponda roho.
14 The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
Moyo wa mwenye ufahamu hutafuta maarifa, bali kinywa cha mpumbavu hujilisha upumbavu.
15 All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.
Siku zote za wanaoonewa ni za taabu, bali moyo mchangamfu una karamu ya kudumu.
16 Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.
Afadhali kuwa na kidogo pamoja na kumcha Bwana, kuliko mali nyingi pamoja na ghasia.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
Afadhali chakula cha mboga mahali palipo na upendo kuliko nyama ya ndama iliyonona pamoja na chuki.
18 A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
Mtu mwepesi wa hasira huchochea ugomvi, bali mtu mvumilivu hutuliza ugomvi.
19 The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.
Njia ya mvivu imezibwa na miiba, bali njia ya mwenye haki ni barabara kuu.
20 A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
Mwana mwenye hekima huleta furaha kwa baba yake, bali mtu mpumbavu humdharau mama yake.
21 Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.
Upumbavu humfurahisha mtu ambaye hana akili, bali mtu mwenye ufahamu hushika njia iliyonyooka.
22 Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.
Mipango hushindwa kufanikiwa kwa ajili ya kukosa ushauri, bali kukiwa na washauri wengi hufanikiwa.
23 Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time.
Mtu hupata furaha katika kutoa jibu linalofaa: je, ni zuri namna gani neno lililotoka kwa wakati wake!
24 The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
Mapito ya uzima huelekea juu kwa ajili ya wenye hekima kumwepusha asiende chini kaburini. (Sheol h7585)
25 The LORD will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow's borders intact.
Bwana hubomoa nyumba ya mtu mwenye kiburi, bali huilinda mipaka ya mjane isiguswe.
26 The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.
Bwana huchukia sana mawazo ya mwovu, bali mawazo ya wale walio safi humfurahisha yeye.
27 He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.
Mtu mwenye tamaa huletea jamaa yake taabu, bali yeye achukiaye rushwa ataishi.
28 The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.
Moyo wa mwenye haki hupima majibu yake, bali kinywa cha mwovu hufoka ubaya.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
Bwana yuko mbali na waovu, bali husikia maombi ya wenye haki.
30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
Mtazamo wa tabasamu huleta furaha moyoni, nazo habari njema huipa mifupa afya.
31 The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.
Yeye asikilizaye maonyo yatoayo uzima atakuwa miongoni mwa wenye hekima.
32 He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
Yeye anayedharau maonyo hujidharau mwenyewe, bali yeyote anayekubali maonyo hupata ufahamu.
33 The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.
Kumcha Bwana humfundisha mtu hekima, nao unyenyekevu huja kabla ya heshima.
