Numbers 11
1 The people were complaining in the ears of the LORD. When the LORD heard it, his anger was kindled; and the LORD's fire burnt among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.
Murmuró el pueblo, quejándose de muy mala manera contra Yahvé. Lo oyó Yahvé, y se inflamó su ira, de modo que se encendió contra ellos un fuego de Yahvé y abrasó una extremidad del campamento.
2 The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to the LORD, and the fire abated.
Entonces el pueblo clamó a Moisés, y Moisés oró a Yahvé, y el fuego se apagó.
3 The name of that place was called Taberah, because the LORD's fire burnt among them.
Por lo cual se dio a aquel lugar el nombre de Taberá, porque el fuego de Yahvé se había encendido contra ellos.
4 The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, "Who will give us flesh to eat?
Mas sucedió que la gente adventicia que iba en medio del pueblo tuvo un vehemente deseo; y también los hijos de Israel volvieron a llorar, diciendo: “¡Quién nos diera carne que comer!
5 We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;
Se nos vienen a la memoria el pescado que de balde comíamos en Egipto, los cohombros, los melones, los puerros, las cebollas, los ajos.
6 but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at."
¡Mas ahora, seca esta ya nuestra alma, y no vemos sino este maná!”
7 The manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance like the appearance of bdellium.
Era el maná semejante a la semilla de cilantro, y su color como el color de bedelio.
8 The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil.
El pueblo solía desparramarse para recogerlo; lo molían en molinos, o lo majaban en morteros y lo cocían en ollas, o hacían de él tortas; y era su sabor como el sabor de buñuelos amasados con aceite.
9 When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.
Cuando de noche descendía el rocío sobre el campamento, descendía el maná juntamente con él.
10 Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.
Oyó Moisés al pueblo que se lamentaba en sus familias, cada cual a la entrada de su tienda. Se encendió entonces la ira de Yahvé en gran manera; y también a Moisés le pareció muy mal.
11 Moses said to the LORD, "Why have you treated with your servant so badly? Why haven't I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?
Y dijo Moisés a Yahvé: “¿Por qué tratas tan mal a tu siervo? ¿Y por qué no he hallado gracia a tus ojos y has echado sobre mí el peso de todo este pueblo?
12 Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, 'Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers?'
¿Acaso soy yo quien he concebido todo este pueblo? ¿Soy yo quien lo ha dado a luz, para que me digas: «llévalo en tu regazo», como lleva la nodriza al niño de pecho, hasta la tierra que juraste dar a sus padres?
13 Where could I get meat to give to all this people? For they weep to me, saying, 'Give us meat, that we may eat.'
¿Dónde tomo yo carne para dar a toda esta gente que llora delante de mí, diciendo: Danos carne que comer?
14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
Yo no soy capaz de soportar solo a toda esta gente, pues es demasiado pesado para mí.
15 If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and do not let me see my wretchedness."
Si me tratas así, quítame más bien la vida, si es que he hallado gracia a tus ojos, para que no vea yo esta mi desdicha.”
16 The LORD said to Moses, "Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.
Entonces dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “Reúneme setenta hombres de los ancianos de Israel, de los que tú sabes que son ancianos del pueblo y jefes del mismo; los conducirás al Tabernáculo de la Reunión, donde se queden contigo.
17 I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.
Yo descenderé y hablaré allí contigo; y tomaré del Espíritu que está sobre ti, y lo pondré sobre ellos, para que lleven juntamente contigo la carga del pueblo y no la lleves tú solo.
18 "Say to the people, 'Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you will eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, "Who will give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt." Therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and you will eat.
Y dirás al pueblo: Santificaos para mañana, pues comeréis carne, ya que habéis llorado a oídos de Yahvé, diciendo: ¡Quién nos diera carne que comer! Mejor nos iba en Egipto. Ahora Yahvé os dará carne que comer.
19 You will not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,
La comeréis no solo un día, ni dos días, ni cinco, ni diez, ni veinte,
20 but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because that you have rejected the LORD who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, "Why did we come out of Egypt?"'"
sino durante todo un mes, hasta que os salga por las narices y os cause repugnancia; por cuanto habéis desechado a Yahvé que está en medio de vosotros, y habéis llorado ante Él, diciendo: ¿Por qué hemos salido de Egipto?”
21 Moses said, "The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, 'I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.'
Respondió Moisés: “Seiscientos mil hombres de a pie cuenta el pueblo en cuyo medio estoy; y Tú dices: ¡Yo les daré carne para que coman durante todo un mes!
22 Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?"
¿Por ventura se puede degollar para ellos ganado menor y ganado mayor que les baste? ¿O pescar para ellos todos los peces del mar para abastecerlos?”
23 The LORD said to Moses, "Has the LORD's hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not."
Yahvé replicó a Moisés: “¿Acaso se ha acortado la mano de Yahvé? Ya verás si se te cumplirá o no mí palabra.”
24 Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.
Luego Moisés salió y refirió al pueblo las palabras de Yahvé, y reunió de los ancianos del pueblo setenta hombres, a los cuales colocó en torno al Tabernáculo.
25 The LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders: and it happened that when the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.
Y Yahvé bajó en la nube y habló con él; y tomó del Espíritu que estaba sobre él y lo puso sobre los setenta ancianos, los cuales cuando se posó sobre ellos el Espíritu profetizaron, pero no volvieron a hacerlo.
26 But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested on them; and they were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
Mas dos de ellos, uno llamado Eldad, y el otro Medad, se habían quedado en el campamento, y sin embargo se posó sobre ellos el Espíritu —estaban en la lista, pero no habían ido al Tabernáculo— y profetizaron en el campamento.
27 A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp."
Corrió un mozo a dar aviso a Moisés, diciendo: “Eldad y Medad están profetizando en el campamento.”
28 Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, "My lord Moses, forbid them."
Entonces Josué, hijo de Nun, ministro de Moisés desde su juventud, tomó la palabra y dijo: “Señor mío Moisés, hazles callar”;
29 Moses said to him, "Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD's people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them."
Moisés le respondió: “¿Estás celoso por mí? ¡Ojalá que todos del pueblo de Yahvé fuesen profetas y derramara Yahvé su Espíritu sobre ellos!”
30 Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
Después Moisés se retiró al campamento, él y los ancianos de Israel.
31 A wind from the LORD went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day's journey on this side, and a day's journey on the other side, around the camp, and about three feet above the ground.
Comenzó a soplar un viento de Yahvé, que trajo codornices desde el Mar, y las hizo volar sobre el campamento, a solo dos codos de altura sobre la tierra, en la extensión de una jornada de camino por una parte, y de una jornada de camino por la otra, alrededor del campamento.
32 The people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers; and they spread them all abroad for themselves around the camp.
Todo aquel día, y toda aquella noche, y todo el día siguiente, estuvo levantado el pueblo, y recogieron codornices: el que menos, recogió diez gómor; y las extendieron en los alrededores del campamento.
33 While the flesh was yet between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.
Todavía tenían la carne entre sus dientes, y no habían aún acabado, cuando la ira de Yahvé se encendió contra el pueblo e hirió Yahvé al pueblo con una plaga muy grande.
34 The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.
Y fue llamado aquel lugar Kibrot- Hataavá; porque allí enterraron a la gente codiciosa (de carne). De Kibrot-Hataavá partieron para Haserot; y se quedaron en Haserot.
35 From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they stayed at Hazeroth.
