< Nehemiah 5 >

1 Then there arose a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brothers the Jews.
In kutu pacl tok pus na sin mwet uh, mukul ac mutan, mutawauk in torkaskas lain mwet Jew wialos.
2 For there were that said, "We, our sons and our daughters, are many. Let us get grain, that we may eat and live."
Kutu selos fahk mu, “Arulana yohk sou lasr uh. Kut enenu wheat kut in mongo kac tuh kut in moul.”
3 Some also there were that said, "We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses. Let us get grain, because of the famine."
Kutu pac selos fahk mu, “Kut kitala ima lasr, nien grape lasr, ac lohm sesr in eis wheat fal nu sesr tuh kut in tia misa ke masrinsral.”
4 There were also some who said, "We have borrowed money for the king's tribute using our fields and our vineyards as collateral.
Oasr pac kutu selos fahk, “Kut enenu in ngusr mani in akfalye tax lasr nu sin tokosra ke ima lasr ac nien grape lasr.
5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children as their children. Look, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters have been brought into bondage. Neither is it in our power to help it; for other men have our fields and our vineyards."
Kut oana mwet Jew wiasr, srah sefanna. Tulik natusr uh oapana tulik natulos. A inge, kut oru tuh tulik natusr uh in mwet kohs. Kutu sin acn natusr uh kukakinyukla tari nu ke mwet kohs. A wangin ma kut ku in oru mweyen ima lasr ac nien grape lasr itukla liki kut.”
6 I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
Ke nga lohng torkaskas lalos, nga kasrkusrak,
7 Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said to them, "You exact usury, everyone of his brother." I held a great assembly against them.
ac nunkauk ma nga in oru kac. Na nga sang kas in kai nu sin mwet kol ac mwet pwapa lun mwet uh ac fahk, “Kowos akkeokye mwet wiowos sifacna ke kowos eis ma laesla yohk liki ma fal.” Nga pangon sie tukeni lulap nu sin mwet uh, in pwapa ke elya se inge.
8 I said to them, "We, after our ability, have redeemed our brothers the Jews that were sold to the nations; and would you even sell your brothers, and should they be sold to us?" Then they held their peace, and found never a word.
Na nga fahk, “Ke kuiyasr nufon kut tuh molela mwet Jew wiasr su tuh sifacna kukakunulosla nu sin mwetsac. A inge kowos oru tuh mwet na wiowos in kukakunulosla sifacna nu suwos, mwet Jew.” Ouinge wanginna ma mwet kol elos ku in fahk, na elos tia kas.
9 Also I said, "The thing that you do is not good. Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God, to prevent the taunts of the nations our enemies?
Na nga fahk, “Ma kowos oru an tia wo! Kowos enenu in akos God ac oru ma suwohs. Fin ouinge, kowos fah tia oru kutena sripa tuh mwet lokoalok lasr, mwet pegan, in ku in akkolukye kut.
10 I likewise, my brothers and my servants, lend them money and grain. Please let us stop this usury.
Nga lela nu sin mwet uh elos in ngusr mani ac mwe mongo sik, na mwet wiyu ac mwet orekma luk elos oru oana nga oru. Inge lela kut nukewa in sisla eisyen ma laesla selos.
11 Please restore to them, even this day, their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, that you are charging them."
Sisla soemoul nukewa lalos nu suwos: finne mani, ku wheat, ku wain, ku oil in olive. Mesinge kowos in folokonang nu selos ima lalos, nien grape lalos, insak olive, ac lohm selos!”
12 Then they said, "We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do, even as you say." Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they would do according to this promise.
Mwet kol elos topuk, “Kut ac oru oana ma kom fahk. Kut ac folokonang ma lalos, ac kut ac tia eis soemoul lalos.” Nga pangoneni mwet tol, ac sap tuh mwet kol in oru fulahk lalos ye mutalos tuh elos fah oru oana ma elos wulela kac inge.
13 Also I shook out my lap, and said, "So may God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that doesn't perform this promise; even thus be he shaken out, and emptied." All the assembly said, "Amen," and praised the LORD. The people did according to this promise.
Na nga sarukla mwe lohl liki infulwuk, ac osrokla ac fahk, “God El fah osrokla kutena suwos su ac tia karingin wulela la, oana ma kowos liye nga oru inge. God El fah eisla lohm suwos ac ma lowos nukewa, ac tia filiya kutena ma nu suwos.” Mwet nukewa su wi tukeni sac fahk, “Amen!” ac kaksakin LEUM GOD. Ac mwet kol elos karinganangna wuleang lalos.
14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artachshasta the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brothers have not eaten the bread of the governor.
In yac singoul luo ke nga governor lun acn Judah, mutawauk ke yac aklongoul nwe ke yac se aktolngoul luo ma Artaxerxes el tokosra fulat, nga ac sou luk tiana eis kitakat ke mwe mongo su fal nu sin sie governor in eis.
15 But the former governors who were before me were supported by the people, and took bread and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver; yes, even their servants ruled over the people: but I did not do so, because of the fear of God.
Tusruktu nga oru siena, mweyen nga akfulatye God.
16 Yes, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered there to the work.
Nga sang kuiyuk nufon in sifil musai pot uh, ac tia suk in eis kutena acn nu sik sifacna. Mwet kulansap luk nukewa elos wi pac orekma ke musa uh.
17 Moreover there were at my table, of the Jews and the rulers, one hundred fifty men, besides those who came to us from among the nations that were around us.
Len nukewa mwet Jew siofok lumngaul wi mwet kol lalos elos mongo ke tepu luk, sayen pacna mwet su tuku liki mutunfacl ma apinkutla.
18 Now that which was prepared for one day was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this I did not demand the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy on this people.
Kais sie len nga srukak cow soko, sheep na wowo onkosr, ac won na pus, ac len singoul nukewa nga srukak pac wain sasu nimen mwet uh. Tuh ke sripen nga etu lah toasr ma mwet uh enenu in akfalye, oru nga tiana suk ke ma fal nga in eis ke wal lun governor.
19 Remember to me, my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.
Nga siyuk sum, O God, tuh kom in esamyu ac akinsewowoyeyu ke ma nukewa ma nga oru nu sin mwet inge.
