< Mark 6 >
1 And he went out from there and came into his own country, and his disciples followed him.
Wasesuka lapho, waya emzini wakibo; abafundi bakhe basebemlandela.
2 And when the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things?" and, "What is the wisdom that is given to this man, that such mighty works come about by his hands?
Sekufike isabatha, waqala ukufundisa esinagogeni; labanengi abamuzwayo bamangala, bathi: Zivela ngaphi lezizinto kuye? Njalo yinhlakanipho bani ayinikiweyo, ukuthi lalimisebenzi yamandla enje yenziwe ngezandla zakhe?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Maryam, and brother of Yaquv, Yusi, Yehudah, and Shimon? Are not his sisters here with us?" They were offended at him.
Lo kayisuye umbazi yini, indodana kaMariya, lomfowabo kaJakobe loJose loJudasi loSimoni? Labodadewabo kabakho yini lapha kithi? Basebekhubeka ngaye.
4 Yeshua said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house."
Kodwa uJesu wathi kubo: Umprofethi kasweli ukudunyiswa, ngaphandle kwelizweni lakibo, lezihlotsheni zakhe lendlini yakwabo.
5 And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people, and healed them.
Futhi wayengelakho ukwenza lowodwa umsebenzi wamandla lapho, ngaphandle kokubeka izandla phezu kwabagulayo abalutshwana, wabasilisa.
6 And he was amazed because of their unbelief. And he went around the villages teaching.
Wasemangala ngokungakholwa kwabo. Wabhodabhoda imizana efundisa.
7 And he called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits.
Wasebizela kuye abalitshumi lambili, waqala ukubathuma ngababili ngababili, wabanika amandla phezu kwabomoya abangcolileyo.
8 And he commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no pack, no money in their belts,
Wabalaya ukuthi bangaphathi lutho lwendlela, ngaphandle kodondolo kuphela; lasikhwama, lasinkwa, lamali ezwezweni;
9 but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.
kodwa bafake amanyathela; futhi bangembathi izembatho ezimbili.
10 And he said to them, "Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there.
Wasesithi kubo: Lapho elingena khona endlini, hlalani kiyo lize liphume khona.
11 And if any place will not receive you or listen to you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them."
Njalo loba ngobani abangayikulemukela, kumbe balizwe, nxa liphuma lapho, thintithani uthuli olungaphansi kwenyawo zenu kube yibufakazi kubo. Ngiqinisile ngithi kini: Kuzakuba lula eSodoma kumbe laseGomora ngosuku lwesigwebo, kulakulowomuzi.
12 So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent.
Sebephumile batshumayela ukuthi baphenduke;
13 They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.
bakhupha amadimoni amanengi, bagcoba abanengi abagulayo ngamagcobo babasilisa.
14 King Herod heard this, for his name had become known, and he said, "Yukhanan the Baptist has risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him."
Inkosi uHerodi wasesizwa ngakho, ngoba ibizo lakhe laba sobala, wasesithi: UJohane owabhabhathizayo uvukile kwabafileyo, futhi kungakho lamandla esebenza kuye.
15 But others said, "He is Eliya." Others said, "He is a prophet, like one of the prophets."
Abanye bathi: UnguElija; labanye bathi: Ungumprofethi, kumbe unjengomunye wabaprofethi.
16 But Herod, when he heard this, said, "This is Yukhanan, whom I beheaded. He has risen."
Kodwa uHerodi esezwile wathi: Lo nguJohane, mina engamquma ikhanda; yena uvukile kwabafileyo.
17 For Herod himself had sent out and arrested Yukhanan, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodia, his brother Philipus's wife, for he had married her.
Ngoba yena uHerodi wayethumele wambamba uJohane, wambopha entolongweni, ngenxa kaHerodiyasi umkaFiliphu umfowabo, ngoba wayemthethe.
18 For Yukhanan said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."
Ngoba uJohane wayethe kuHerodi: Kawuvunyelwa ukuba lomkamfowenu.
19 So Herodia set herself against him, and desired to kill him, but she could not,
UHerodiyasi wasembambela inhliziyo, wafuna ukumbulala; kodwa kenelisanga;
20 for Herod feared Yukhanan, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. And when he heard him, he was very perplexed, but he heard him gladly.
ngoba uHerodi wayemesaba uJohane, esazi ukuthi uyindoda elungileyo lengcwele, wamlondoloza; lalapho emuzwa, wenza izinto ezinengi, wamuzwa ngokuthokoza.
21 And then a convenient day came, that Herod on his birthday gave a supper for his nobles, the high officers, and the leaders of Galila.
Kwathi selufikile usuku oluhle, uHerodi ngelanga lakhe lokuzalwa wenzela izikhulu zakhe lenduna zenkulungwane labalisa beGalili ukudla kwantambama,
22 And when the daughter of Herodia herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and those sitting with him. The king said to the young woman, "Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you."
kwathi indodakazi kaHerodiyasi lo isingenile yagida, yamkholisa uHerodi lalabo ababehlezi ekudleni laye, inkosi yathi entombini: Cela kimi loba kuyini okuthandayo, njalo ngizakupha;
23 And he swore to her, "Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom."
wafunga kuyo esithi: Loba kuyini ongakucela kimi, ngizakunika, kuze kube yingxenye yombuso wami.
24 So she went out, and said to her mother, "What should I ask?" And she said, "The head of Yukhanan the baptizer."
Yasiphuma isithi kunina: Ngizacelani? Yena wasesithi: Ikhanda likaJohane uMbhabhathizi.
25 And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, "I want you to give me right now the head of Yukhanan the Baptist on a platter."
Njalo yahle yangena enkosini ngokuphangisa, yacela, yathi: Ngifuna ukuthi unginike khathesinje emganwini ikhanda likaJohane uMbhabhathizi.
26 And the king was exceedingly sorry, but for the sake of his oaths, and of his dinner guests, he did not wish to refuse her.
Inkosi yasidabuka kakhulu, kodwa ngenxa yezifungo langalabo ababehlezi layo ekudleni kayithandanga ukuyilandulela.
27 So immediately the king sent out a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring Yukhanan's head, and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
Njalo inkosi yahle yathuma ibutho yalaya ukuthi kulethwe ikhanda lakhe. Wasehamba wamquma ikhanda entolongweni,
28 and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the young woman; and the young woman gave it to her mother.
waletha ikhanda lakhe ngomganu, walinika intombi; intombi yasilinika unina.
29 And when his disciples heard this, they came and took up his corpse, and placed it in a tomb.
Kwathi abafundi bakhe sebezwile beza, bathatha isidumbu sakhe, basibeka engcwabeni.
30 Then the apostles gathered themselves together to Yeshua, and they told him all things, whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught.
Abaphostoli basebebuthana kuJesu, bambikela konke, lababekwenzile kanye lababekufundisile.
31 And he said to them, "Come away by yourselves to an isolated place, and rest awhile." For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
Wasesithi kubo: Wozani lina lodwa endaweni eyinkangala, liphumule kancinyane. Ngoba babebanengi abafikayo labahambayo, futhi bengelathuba lokudla.
32 So they went away in the boat to an isolated place by themselves.
Bakhuphuka ngomkhumbi baya endaweni eyinkangala bebodwa.
33 But they saw them going, and many recognized him and ran there on foot from all the cities and they arrived before them.
Amaxuku asebabona besuka, labanengi bamazi, bagijimela khona kanyekanye ngenyawo bevela emizini yonke, basebebandulela, bahlangana kuye.
34 And he came out, saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.
Kwathi uJesu esephuma wabona ixuku elikhulu, waba lesihelo ngabo, ngoba babenjengezimvu ezingelamelusi; waseqala ukubafundisa izinto ezinengi.
35 And when it was late in the day, his disciples came to him, and said, "This place is desolate, and it is late in the day.
Kwathi isikhathi sesihambile, abafundi bakhe beza kuye bathi: Lindawo iyinkangala, lesikhathi sesihambile;
36 Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages, and buy themselves something to eat."
bayekele, ukuze baye ezigabeni ezizingelezeleyo lemizaneni bazithengele izinkwa; ngoba bengelalutho abangaludla.
37 But he answered them, "You give them something to eat." They asked him, "Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give them something to eat?"
Wasephendula wathi kubo: Banikeni lina ukuthi badle. Basebesithi kuye: Sihambe yini siyethenga izinkwa ngabodenariyo abangamakhulu amabili, sibaphe badle?
38 He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go see." When they knew, they said, "Five, and two fish."
Wasesithi kubo: Lilezinkwa ezingaki? Hambani liyebona. Sebesazi bathi: Zinhlanu, lenhlanzi ezimbili.
39 He commanded them that everyone should sit down in groups on the green grass.
Wasebalaya ukuthi babahlalise bonke phansi ngezigaba ngezigaba etshanini obuluhlaza.
40 They sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties.
Basebehlala phansi ngamaviyo ngamaviyo, ngamakhulu langamatshumi amahlanu.
41 He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and he gave to his disciples to set before them, and he divided the two fish among them all.
Wasethatha izinkwa ezinhlanu lenhlanzi ezimbili, ekhangela phezulu ezulwini, wabonga, wazihlephula izinkwa, wazinika abafundi bakhe ukuthi bazibeke phambi kwabo; lenhlanzi ezimbili wazabela bonke.
42 They all ate, and were filled.
Basebesidla bonke, basutha.
43 They took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and also of the fish.
Basebedobha izitsha ezilitshumi lambili ezagcwala imvuthu ezazisele, lokuseleyo kwenhlanzi.
44 Those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.
Lalabo abadlayo izinkwa, babengaba ngamadoda azinkulungwane ezinhlanu.
45 And immediately he made his disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead to the other side, to Beth-Sayada, while he himself sent the crowd away.
Njalo wahle wacindezela abafundi bakhe ukuthi bangene emkhunjini, njalo bamqalele ukuya ngaphetsheya eBhethisayida, yena esayekela ixuku lihamba.
46 After he had taken leave of them, he went up the mountain to pray.
Esebavalelisile, wasuka waya entabeni ukuyakhuleka.
47 When evening had come, the boat was in the midst of the lake, and he was alone on the land.
Sekuhlwile, umkhumbi wawuphakathi kolwandle, futhi yena wayeyedwa emhlabathini.
48 He saw them distressed in rowing, for the wind was against them. In the watch between three and six in the morning he came to them, walking on the lake, and he would have passed by them,
Wababona behlupheka kakhulu ekugwedleni, ngoba umoya wawuphambene labo, wasesiza kubo sokungaba yisikhathi somlindo wesine wobusuku, ehamba phezu kolwandle; wasefuna ukubadlula.
49 but they, when they saw him walking on the lake, supposed that it was a ghost, and began to scream;
Sebembonile ehamba phezu kolwandle, basebecabanga ukuthi lithonga, bakhala kakhulu;
50 for they all saw him, and were troubled. But he immediately spoke with them, and said to them, "Cheer up. It is I. Do not be afraid."
ngoba bambona bonke, bethuka. Kodwa wahle wakhuluma labo, wathi kubo: Manini isibindi; yimi, lingesabi.
51 And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were completely profusely astonished among themselves;
Wasesenyukela kubo emkhunjini, umoya wasuthula; basebesanganiseka kakhulu okwedlula amalawulo ngaphakathi, bamangala.
52 for they had not understood about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.
Ngoba babengaqedisisanga ngezinkwa; ngoba inhliziyo yabo yayilukhuni.
53 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore.
Kwathi sebechaphile bafika elizweni leGenesaretha, babophela umkhumbi ekhunjini.
54 When they had come out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him,
Bathi sebephumile emkhunjini, bahle bamazi,
55 and ran around that whole region, and began to bring those who were sick, on their mats, to where they heard he was.
njalo bagijimela kuso sonke lesosigaba esizingelezeleyo, baqala ukubhoda bethwala abagulayo ngamathala bebasa lapho abebesizwa ukuthi ukhona.
56 Wherever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they placed the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch just the fringe of his garment; and everyone who touched him were made well.
Njalo loba ngaphi angena khona emizaneni loba emizini, loba emaphandleni, babeka abagulayo emidangeni, bamncenga ukuthi bathinte umphetho wesembatho sakhe nje; njalo bonke abamthintayo basindiswa.
