< Luke 4 >

1 Yeshua, full of the Rukha d'Qudsha, returned from the Yurdinan, and was led by the Rukha into the wilderness
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the desert,
2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. When they were completed, he was hungry.
For the space of forty days; and was tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing in those days; and when they were ended, he was hungry.
3 The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
And the devil said to him: If thou be the Son of God, say to this stone that it be made bread.
4 Yeshua answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Humankind cannot live by bread alone.'"
And Jesus answered him: It is written, that Man liveth not by bread alone, but by every word of God.
5 And leading him up to a high mountain, the devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
And the devil led him into a high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time;
6 The devil said to him, "I will give you all this authority, and their glory, for it has been delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I want.
And he said to him: To thee will I give all this power, and the glory of them; for to me they are delivered, and to whom I will, I give them.
7 If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours."
If thou therefore wilt adore before me, all shall be thine.
8 Yeshua answered and said to him, "It is written, 'You are to worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"
And Jesus answering said to him: It is written: Thou shalt adore the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
9 He led him to Urishlim, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,
And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and he said to him: If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself from hence.
10 for it is written, 'He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you;'
For it is written, that He hath given his angels charge over thee, that they keep thee.
11 and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.'"
And that in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest perhaps thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Yeshua, answering, said to him, "It is said, 'Do not test the Lord your God.'"
And Jesus answering, said to him: It is said: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13 When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until another time.
And all the temptation being ended, the devil departed from him for a time.
14 Yeshua returned in the power of the Rukha into Galila, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.
And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit, into Galilee, and the fame of him went out through the whole country.
15 He taught in their synagogues, being praised by all.
And he taught in their synagogues, and was magnified by all.
16 He came to Natsrath, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up: and he went into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the sabbath day; and he rose up to read.
17 The scroll of the prophet Eshaya was handed to him, and unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written,
And the book of Isaias the prophet was delivered unto him. And as he unfolded the book, he found the place where it was written:
18 "The Rukha of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. Wherefore he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the contrite of heart,
19 and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
To preach deliverance to the captives, and sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of reward.
20 He closed the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.
And when he had folded the book, he restored it to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.
21 He began to tell them, "Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
And he began to say to them: This day is fulfilled this scripture in your ears.
22 All testified about him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, "Is not this Yauseph's son?"
And all gave testimony to him: and they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth, and they said: Is not this the son of Joseph?
23 He said to them, "Doubtless you will tell me this parable, 'Physician, heal yourself. Whatever we have heard done at Kepharnakhum, do also here in your hometown.'"
And he said to them: Doubtless you will say to me this similitude: Physician, heal thyself: as great things as we have heard done in Capharnaum, do also here in thy own country.
24 He said, "Truly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.
And he said: Amen I say to you, that no prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israyel in the days of Eliya, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.
In truth I say to you, there were many widows in the days of Elias in Israel, when heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there was a great famine throughout all the earth.
26 Eliya was sent to none of them, except to Tsarpath, in the land of Tsaidan, to a woman who was a widow.
And to none of them was Elias sent, but to Sarepta of Sidon, to a widow woman.
27 There were many lepers in Israyel in the time of Elaysha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Armaya."
And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet: and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian.
28 They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things.
And all they in the synagogue, hearing these things, were filled with anger.
29 They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff.
And they rose up and thrust him out of the city; and they brought him to the brow of the hill, whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
30 But he, passing through the midst of them, went his way.
But he passing through the midst of them, went his way.
31 He came down to Kepharnakhum, a city of Galila. He was teaching them on the Sabbath day,
And he went down into Capharnaum, a city of Galilee, and there he taught them on the sabbath days.
32 and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his speech was with power.
33 In the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon, and he shouted with a loud voice,
And in the synagogue there was a man who had an unclean devil, and he cried out with a loud voice,
34 saying, "Ah. What have we to do with you, Yeshua, Natsraya? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are — the Holy One of God."
Saying: Let us alone, what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God.
35 Yeshua rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him." When the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.
And Jesus rebuked him, saying: Hold thy peace, and go out of him. And when the devil had thrown him into the midst, he went out of him, and hurt him not at all.
36 Amazement came on all, and they spoke together, one with another, saying, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."
And there came fear upon all, and they talked among themselves, saying: What word is this, for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they go out?
37 News about him went out into every place of the surrounding region.
And the fame of him was published into every place of the country.
38 He rose up from the synagogue, and entered into Shimon's house. Now Shimon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they appealed to him about her.
And Jesus rising up out of the synagogue, went into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever, and they besought him for her.
39 He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her. Immediately she rose up and served them.
And standing over her, he commanded the fever, and it left her. And immediately rising, she ministered to them.
40 When the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
And when the sun was down, all they that had any sick with divers diseases, brought them to him. But he laying his hands on every one of them, healed them.
41 Demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, "You are the Son of God." But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Meshikha.
And devils went out from many, crying out and saying: Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them he suffered them not to speak, for they knew that he was Christ.
42 When it was day, he departed and went into an uninhabited place, and the crowds looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he would not go away from them.
And when it was day, going out he went into a desert place, and the multitudes sought him, and came unto him: and they stayed him that he should not depart from them.
43 But he said to them, "I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God to the other cities also. For this reason I have been sent."
To whom he said: To other cities also I must preach the kingdom of God: for therefore am I sent.
44 And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galila.
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
