Ecclesiastes 7
1 A good name is better than fine perfume; and the day of death better than the day of one's birth.
೧ಸುಗಂಧತೈಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಹೆಸರು ಉತ್ತಮ, ಮತ್ತು ಜನನ ದಿನಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮರಣ ದಿನವೇ ಮೇಲು.
2 It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men, and the living should take this to heart.
೨ಔತಣದ ಮನೆಗಿಂತ ಮರಣದುಃಖದ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುವುದು ಲೇಸು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಇದೇ ಗತಿ, ಜೀವಂತನು ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವನು.
3 Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the face the heart is made good.
೩ನಗೆಗಿಂತ ದುಃಖವು ವಾಸಿ, ಮುಖವು ಸಪ್ಪಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಹೃದಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮೇಲು.
4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
೪ದುಃಖದ ಮನೆಯು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ನೆಲೆ, ಉಲ್ಲಾಸದ ಮನೆಯು ಮೂಢರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ನಿವಾಸ.
5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
೫ಮೂಢರ ಗಾನಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ಗದರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವುದು ಲೇಸು.
6 For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool. This also is vanity.
೬ಮೂಢರ ನಗುವು ಮಡಿಕೆಯ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಉರಿಯುವ ಮುಳ್ಳಿನ ಚಟಪಟ ಶಬ್ದದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ. ಇದೂ ಕೂಡ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ.
7 Surely extortion makes the wise man foolish; and a bribe destroys the understanding.
೭ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆಯು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯನ್ನು ಮೂರ್ಖನನ್ನಾಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಲಂಚವು ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಕೆಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
8 Better is the end of a thing than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
೮ಆದಿಗಿಂತ ಅಂತ್ಯವು ಲೇಸು; ಅಹಂಕಾರಿಗಿಂತ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯುಳ್ಳವನು ಉತ್ತಮ.
9 Do not be hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.
೯ನಿನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಕೋಪಕ್ಕೆ ಆತುರಪಡದಿರಲಿ, ಕೋಪಕ್ಕೆ ಮೂಢರ ಎದೆಯೇ ಲೇಸು.
10 Do not say, "Why were the former days better than these?" For you do not ask wisely about this.
೧೦ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲವು ಈ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೇಲಾದದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವೇನು ಅನ್ನಬೇಡ. ನೀನು ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವುದು ಜ್ಞಾನಕಾರ್ಯವಲ್ಲ.
11 Wisdom is as good as an inheritance. Yes, it is more excellent for those who see the sun.
೧೧ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಸ್ವತ್ತಿನಂತೆ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಕರ. ಇದು ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ವತ್ತಿಗಿಂತ ಉತ್ತಮೋತ್ತಮವಾಗಿದೆ.
12 For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.
೧೨ಧನವು ಹೇಗೊ ಹಾಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಆಶ್ರಯ. ಜ್ಞಾನಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶೇಷವೇನೆಂದರೆ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವನಿಗೆ ಅದು ಜೀವದಾಯಕವೆಂಬುದೇ.
13 Consider the work of God, for who can make that straight, which he has made crooked?
೧೩ದೇವರ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡು; ಆತನು ಸೊಟ್ಟಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರಿಂದಾದೀತು?
14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; yes, God has made the one side by side with the other, to the end that man should not find out anything after him.
೧೪ಸುಖದ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಖದಿಂದಿರು, ದುಃಖದ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಚಿಸು; ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಕಾಲವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸುವ ಯಾವುದನ್ನೂ ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾರದಂತೆ, ದೇವರು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದರ ಮೇಲೊಂದು ಬರಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
15 All this have I seen in my days of vanity: there is a righteous man who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who lives long in his evildoing.
೧೫ನೀತಿವಂತನು ತನ್ನ ನೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನಶಿಸುವುದುಂಟು. ದುಷ್ಟನು ತನ್ನ ದುಷ್ಟತನದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಬಹಳ ದಿನ ಬದುಕುವುದುಂಟು. ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನನ್ನ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾದ ಜೀವಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
16 Do not be overly righteous, neither make yourself overly wise. Why should you destroy yourself?
೧೬ನೀನು ಅತಿಯಾಗಿ ನೀತಿವಂತನಾಗಿರಬೇಡ, ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾಗಿರಬೇಡ. ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೀನೇ ನಾಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಏಕೆ ಗುರಿಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಿ?
17 Do not be too wicked, neither be foolish. Why should you die before your time?
೧೭ನೀನು ಅತಿಯಾಗಿ ದುಷ್ಟನಾಗಿರಬೇಡ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಮೂರ್ಖನಾಗಿರಬೇಡ, ಏಕೆ ಅಕಾಲ ಮರಣವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವಿ?
18 It is good that you should take hold of this. Yes, also from that do not withdraw your hand; for he who fears God will come forth from them all.
೧೮ನೀನು ಇದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು, ಅದರಿಂದ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂತೆಗೆಯಬೇಡ. ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುವವನು ಅವೆಲ್ಲವುಗಳಿಂದ ಪಾರಾಗುವನು.
19 Wisdom is a strength to the wise man more than ten rulers who are in a city.
೧೯ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಂದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ಬಲಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ಬಲವು ಹೆಚ್ಚು.
20 Surely there is not a righteous man on earth, who does good and doesn't sin.
೨೦ಪಾಪಮಾಡದೇ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನೇ ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸತ್ಪುರುಷರು ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
21 Also do not take heed to all words that are spoken, lest you hear your servant curse you;
೨೧ಆಡುವ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಾರದಿರು, ನಿನ್ನ ಆಳು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸುವುದು ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದೀತು.
22 for often your own heart knows that you yourself have likewise cursed others.
೨೨ನೀನು ಕೂಡ ಅನೇಕ ವೇಳೆ ಇತರರನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸಿದ್ದಿ ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸೇ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ.
23 All this have I proved in wisdom. I said, "I will be wise;" but it was far from me.
೨೩ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದೆನು. “ನಾನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾಗುವೆನು” ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡೆನು. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ನನ್ನಿಂದ ದೂರವಾಯಿತು.
24 That which is, is far off and exceedingly deep. Who can find it out?
೨೪ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಬಹಳ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಅಗಾಧದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಯಾರು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಾರು?
25 I turned around, and my heart sought to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the scheme of things, and to know that wickedness is stupidity, and that foolishness is madness.
೨೫ನಾನು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು, ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಮೂಲತತ್ವವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ, ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿ ಗ್ರಹಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧರ್ಮವು ಮೂರ್ಖತನ, ಅಜ್ಞಾನವು ಹುಚ್ಚುತನ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಟ್ಟೆನು.
26 I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and traps, whose hands are chains. Whoever pleases God shall escape from her; but the sinner will be ensnared by her.
೨೬ಆಗ ಮರಣಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ವಿಷವೊಂದು ಕಂಡುಬಂತು. ಯಾವುದೆಂದರೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಹೆಂಗಸೇ. ಅವಳ ಹೃದಯವು ಉರುಲುಗಳೂ, ಬಲೆಗಳೂ, ಅವಳ ತೋಳುಗಳು ಸಂಕೋಲೆಗಳು. ದೇವರು ಒಲಿದವನು ಅವಳಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು. ಆದರೆ ಪಾಪಿಯು ಅವಳ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಬೀಳುವನು.
27 Look, this have I found, says the Preacher, one to another, to find out the scheme;
೨೭ಪ್ರಸಂಗಿಯು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, “ನೋಡು, ನಾನು ಇದನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟು ನಡೆಸಿದರೂ ಉತ್ತರ ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.
28 which my soul still seeks; but I have not found: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.
೨೮ಸಹಸ್ರ ಪುರುಷರಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಗ್ಯನೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿದ್ದರೂ ಕಂಡಿರಬಹುದು, ಆದರೆ ಸಹಸ್ರ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಗ್ಯಳೊಬ್ಬಳನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡಿಲ್ಲ.
29 Look, this only have I found, that God made humankind upright, but they search for many schemes.
೨೯ದೇವರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸತ್ಯವಂತನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರಾದರೋ ಬಹು ಯುಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನಾನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
