< 2 Peter 1 >
1 Shimon Kipha, a servant and apostle of Yeshua Meshikha, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Yeshua Meshikha:
Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a faith as precious as ours through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Yeshua our Lord,
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue;
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by glory and virtue.
4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.
Through these he has given us his precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires.
5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, your virtue with knowledge,
6 and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness;
your knowledge with self-control, your self-control with endurance, your endurance with godliness,
7 and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.
your godliness with brotherly affection, and your brotherly affection with love.
8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha.
For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.
For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten the cleansing of his former sins.
10 Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.
Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm that you are among those whom God has called and chosen, because if you do these things, you will never stumble.
11 For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Yeshua Meshikha. (aiōnios )
For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you. (aiōnios )
12 Therefore I will be ready always to remind you of these things, though you know them, and are established in the present truth.
Therefore, I will not neglect to keep reminding you about these things, though you know them and are established in the truth you now have.
13 I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you;
I think it is right, as long as I am in this bodily tent, to stir you up by way of reminder,
14 knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Yeshua Meshikha made clear to me.
because I know that this tent will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.
15 Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.
And I will make every effort to ensure that after my departure you will be able to recall these things at any time.
16 For we did not follow cunningly devised tales, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that voice came to him from the Majestic Glory: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
18 We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19 We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts:
So we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed. You will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.
First of all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation.
21 For no prophecy ever came by human will, but people spoke from God, being moved by the Rukha d'Qudsha.
For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
