< 1 Peter 3 >
1 In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any do not obey the word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word;
2 seeing your pure behavior in fear.
3 Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing;
4 but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious.
5 For this is how the holy women before, who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
Nĩgũkorwo ũguo nĩguo atumia arĩa atheru a tene arĩa mehokete Ngai meegemagia, na ũndũ wa gwathĩkagĩra athuuri ao ene,
6 as Sera obeyed Avraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.
o ta Sara, ũrĩa waathĩkagĩra Iburahĩmu na akamwĩtaga mwathi wake. Inyuĩ mũrĩ ciana ciake mũngĩĩka ũrĩa kwagĩrĩire mũtegwĩtigĩra.
7 You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.
8 Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble,
Ngĩrĩkĩrĩria, ngũmwĩra inyuothe atĩrĩ, mũtũũranagie mũiguanĩte mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ; mũiguanagĩre tha, ningĩ mwendanage ta ciana cia nyina ũmwe, na mũtuĩke ataana, na mũikarage mwĩnyiihĩtie.
9 not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; because to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing.
Tigagai kwĩrĩhĩria ũũru na ũũru, kana kwĩrumĩra mwarumwo, no nĩ kaba mũrathimanage, tondũ ũguo nĩguo mwetĩirwo, nĩgeetha mũkaagaĩrwo kĩrathimo.
10 For, "He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
Nĩgũkorwo, “Mũndũ ũrĩa wothe ũngĩenda gũtũũra muoyo na one matukũ mega, no nginya arigĩrĩrie rũrĩmĩ rwake kwaria ũũru, na mĩromo yake kwaragia maheeni.
11 Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
No nginya agarũrũke atige gwĩka ũũru, na ekage o wega; no nginya acaragie thayũ na aũthingatage.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
Nĩgũkorwo maitho ma Mwathani maikaraga macũthĩrĩirie andũ arĩa athingu, na matũ make magathikagĩrĩria mahooya mao, no andũ arĩa mekaga ũũru, ũthiũ wa Mwathani nĩkũmookĩrĩra ũmookagĩrĩra.”
13 Now who is he who will harm you, if you become zealous of that which is good?
Atĩrĩrĩ, nũũ ũngĩmwĩka ũũru mũngĩkorwo mũrĩ na kĩyo gĩa gwĩka wega?
14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not fear what they fear, nor be troubled."
No rĩrĩ, o na mũngĩnyariirwo nĩ ũndũ wa gwĩka ũrĩa kwagĩrĩire-rĩ, inyuĩ mũrĩ arathime. “Tigagai gwĩtigĩra maũndũ marĩa metigagĩra; mũtikanamake.”
15 But sanctify in your hearts Meshikha as Lord; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with humility and fear:
No ngoro-inĩ cianyu-rĩ, mwĩyamũrĩrei Kristũ atuĩke Mwathani. Ikaragai mwĩhaarĩirie hĩndĩ ciothe gũcookeria mũndũ wothe ũrĩa ũngĩmũũria gĩtũmi gĩa kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro kĩrĩa mũrĩ nakĩo. No ĩkagai ũguo mũrĩ na ũhooreri na gĩtĩĩo,
16 having a good conscience; so that when they speak evil against you, they may be put to shame who slander your good manner of life in Meshikha.
mũrĩ na thamiri ĩtegwĩcuuka, nĩgeetha arĩa macambagia mĩtugo yanyu mĩega tondũ mũrĩ thĩinĩ wa Kristũ, maconokage nĩ ũndũ wa gĩcambanio kĩu kĩao.
17 For it is better, if it is God's will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil.
Nĩ kaba kũnyariirwo nĩ ũndũ wa gwĩka wega, angĩkorwo nĩ kwenda kwa Ngai, handũ ha kũnyariirwo nĩ gwĩka ũũru.
18 Because Meshikha also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
Tondũ Kristũ aakuire nĩ ũndũ wa mehia ihinda o rĩmwe rĩa kũigana, ũrĩa mũthingu agĩkua nĩ ũndũ wa arĩa matarĩ athingu, nĩguo atũtware kũrĩ Ngai. Ooragirwo arĩ thĩinĩ wa mwĩrĩ, no ha ũhoro wa Roho, agĩcookio muoyo,
19 in which he also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison,
20 who before were disobedient, when God waited patiently in the days of Nukh, while the box-shaped ship was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved by means of water.
marĩa maaremete kuuma o tene rĩrĩa Ngai aatũire etereire akirĩrĩirie matukũ-inĩ ma Nuhu, rĩrĩa thabina yaakagwo. Thĩinĩ wayo haarĩ o andũ anini, nao othe maarĩ andũ anana tu, arĩa maahonokirio maaĩ-inĩ,
21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the body, but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Yeshua Meshikha,
22 who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
