1 Corinthians 8
1 Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
Maintenant, en ce qui concerne les choses sacrifiées aux idoles: nous savons que nous avons tous la connaissance. La connaissance enfle, mais l'amour édifie.
2 But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he does not yet know as he ought to know.
Mais si quelqu'un croit savoir quelque chose, il ne sait pas encore ce qu'il doit savoir.
3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by him.
Mais celui qui aime Dieu est connu de lui.
4 Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no God but one.
Ainsi, pour ce qui est de manger des viandes sacrifiées aux idoles, nous savons qu'il n'y a pas d'idole dans le monde, et qu'il n'y a pas d'autre Dieu qu'un seul.
5 For though there are things that are called "gods," whether in the heavens or on earth; as there are many "gods" and many "lords;"
Car, s'il y a des choses qu'on appelle « dieux », soit dans les cieux, soit sur la terre, comme il y a plusieurs « dieux » et plusieurs « seigneurs »,
6 yet to us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Yeshua Meshikha, through whom are all things, and we live through him.
pour nous, il n'y a qu'un seul Dieu, le Père, de qui viennent toutes choses, et nous pour lui, et un seul Seigneur, Jésus-Christ, par qui viennent toutes choses, et nous vivons par lui.
7 However, not all have this knowledge. But some, being so accustomed to idols until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
Cependant, cette connaissance n'est pas dans tous les hommes. Mais certains, ayant jusqu'ici conscience d'une idole, mangent comme d'une chose sacrifiée à une idole, et leur conscience, étant faible, est souillée.
8 But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we do not eat, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.
Mais la nourriture ne nous recommandera pas à Dieu. Car ni si nous ne mangeons pas, nous sommes pires, ni si nous mangeons, nous sommes meilleurs.
9 But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.
Mais prenez garde que cette liberté qui est la vôtre ne devienne une pierre d'achoppement pour les faibles.
10 For if someone sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol's temple, won't his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?
Car si un homme vous voit, vous qui avez la science, assis dans le temple d'une idole, sa conscience, si elle est faible, ne sera-t-elle pas enhardie à manger des choses sacrifiées aux idoles?
11 And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whom the Meshikha died.
Et c'est par votre science que périt le faible, le frère pour lequel Christ est mort.
12 Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Meshikha.
Ainsi, en péchant contre les frères, et en blessant leur conscience quand elle est faible, vous péchez contre le Christ.
