< Matthew 22 >
1 Once more Jesus answered them in parables.
Yesu n’addamu n’ayogera nabo mu ngero ng’agamba nti,
2 "The kingdom of heaven," he said, "may be compared to a king who made a wedding-feast for his son.
“Obwakabaka obw’omu ggulu bufaanana nga, kabaka eyategekera omwana we embaga ey’obugole.
3 "He sent out his slaves to summon the invited guests to the feast, but they did not want to come.
N’atuma abaddu be okuyita abaayitibwa ku mbaga, ne batayagala kujja.
4 "Again he sent out other slaves. ‘Tell the invited guests,’ he said,’that my luncheon is now ready; my oxen and fat cattle are killed; everything is ready; come to the wedding-feast.’
“Kabaka n’abatumira abaddu abalala babategeeze nti, ‘Mutegeeze abayite nti nteeseteese, ekijjulo, zisseddume zange n’ente ensavuwazze zittiddwa, era buli kimu kitegekeddwa. Mujje ku mbaga.’
5 "They, however, paid no attention, but went off, one to his own farm, another to his business;
“Naye ne batassaayo mwoyo, omu n’alaga mu nnimiro ye, omulala n’alaga mu bya busuubuzi bye.
6 "while the rest seized his slaves and maltreated and murdered them.
Abalala ne babakwata ne bababonyaabonya ne babatta.
7 "Then the king’s wrath was roused, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Awo Kabaka n’asunguwala, n’ayungula ekibinja ky’abaserikale n’azikiriza abatemu abo, n’ayokya ekibuga kyabwe.
8 "Then he said to his slaves, "‘The wedding-feast indeed is ready, but the invited guests were not worthy.
“Awo kabaka n’agamba abaddu be nti, ‘Ekijjulo ky’embaga kiteekeddwateekeddwa, naye abaayitibwa ne batasaanira.
9 "‘So go out into the partings of the highways, and summon everybody you find there to the wedding-feast.’
Noolwekyo mugende mu nguudo z’omu kibuga muyite abantu bonna be munaasangayo bajje ku mbaga.’
10 "So those slaves went out into the roads, and gathered together all whom they found, good or bad, and the banquet-hall was filled with the guests.
Abaddu bwe baagenda mu nguudo, ne bakuŋŋaanya buli gwe baasanga, ababi n’abalungi, ekisenge ky’embaga ne kijjula abagenyi.
11 "Then the king came in to inspect his guests, and he discovered there a man who had not put on a wedding-garment. He said to him,
“Kabaka bwe yayingira okulaba abaali batudde ku mmeeza, n’alaba omusajja eyali tayambadde kyambalo kya mbaga.
12 "‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding-garment?’ "The man was speechless.
Kabaka n’amubuuza nti, ‘Munnange, oyingidde otya wano nga toyambadde kyambalo kya mbaga?’ Omusajja nga talina ky’addamu.
13 "‘Bind him hand and foot, ‘said the king to his officers, ‘and cast him into the outer darkness; there will be the wailing and the gnashing of teeth.’
“Awo kabaka n’alagira basajja be nti, ‘Mumusibe emikono n’amagulu mumukasuke ebweru mu kizikiza ekikutte be zigizigi, eri okukaaba n’okuluma obujiji.’
14 "For there are many called, but few are chosen."
“Abayitibwa bangi, naye abalondemu batono.”
15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might ensnare him during conversation.
Awo Abafalisaayo ne bagenda ne bateesa engeri gye banaategamu Yesu bamukwase mu bigambo.
16 So they sent their disciples to him, with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know that you are honest, and that you are teaching the way of God in sincerity; and are not afraid of any one, for you do not court men’s favor.
Ne bamutumira abayigirizwa baabwe awamu n’Abakerodiyaani nga bagamba nti, “Omuyigiriza, tumanyi ng’oli mulungi, era oyigiriza mazima awatali kutya muntu yenna, kubanga tososola mu bantu.
17 "Give us your advice, then. Is it allowable to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"
Kale tutegeeze, olowooza ekituufu kye kiri wa? Kituufu okuwa Kayisaali omusolo oba si kituufu?”
18 And Jesus, because he knew their malice, said.
Naye Yesu bwe yamanya obutali butuukirivu bwabwe, n’abagamba nti, “Bannanfuusi mmwe, Lwaki mungezesa?
19 "Hypocrites! Why are you tempting me? Show me the tribute money." So they brought him a shilling.
Kale, mundeetere wano ku nsimbi ze muweesa omusolo ndabe.” Ne bamuleetera eddinaali.
20 "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" he asked.
N’ababuuza nti, “Kino ekifaananyi n’obuwandiike ebiriko by’ani?”
21 "Caesar’s," they answered. Then he said to them, "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s."
Ne bamuddamu nti, “Bya Kayisaali.” N’abagamba nti, “Kale ebya Kayisaali mubiwenga Kayisaali, n’ebya Katonda mubiwenga Katonda.”
22 When they heard this they were astonished, and left him and went away.
Bwe baawulira ebigambo ebyo ne beewuunya ne bamuleka ne bagenda.
23 That very day there came to him some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection. and they questioned him.
Ku lunaku olwo lwe lumu, Abasaddukaayo, abagamba nti, “Tewali kuzuukira,” ne bajja eri Yesu, ne bamubuuza nti,
24 "Master," they said, "Moses taught that if a man dies without issue, his brother is to marry the widow, and raise up a family for his brother.
“Omuyigiriza Musa yagamba nti, ‘Singa omusajja afa nga tazadde mwana, muganda w’omufu awase nnamwandu oyo azaalire muganda we abaana.’
25 "Now there were of our number seven brothers; and the first married and died. As he had no children, he left his wife to his brother;
Twalina abooluganda musanvu. Owooluganda ow’olubereberye n’awasa, kyokka n’afa nga tazadde mwana, bw’atyo mukazi we n’afumbirwa muganda we.
26 "In the same way the second also died, and the third, unto the seventh.
Ekintu kye kimu ne kituuka ku wookubiri ne ku wookusatu, okutuusa ku w’omusanvu.
27 "Last of all the woman died.
Oluvannyuma n’omukazi oyo naye n’afa.
28 "In the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be? They all had her."
Kale okuzuukira nga kutuuse omukazi oyo aliba muka ani ku abo omusanvu? Kubanga bonna abooluganda omusanvu yabafumbirwako.”
29 In answer Jesus said. "You err because you do not know the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
Naye Yesu n’abagamba nti, “Olw’obutamanya byawandiikibwa n’obutategeera maanyi ga Katonda kyemuvudde mukyama.
30 "For in the resurrection men do not marry, nor are women given in marriage, but they are like angels in heaven.
Kubanga mu kuzuukira teriiyo kuwasa wadde okufumbirwa, naye abantu bonna baba nga bamalayika mu ggulu.
31 "But concerning the resurrection of the dead, did you never read what was spoken to you by God,
Naye ebikwata ku kuzuukira kw’abafu, temusomanga ku kigambo ekyayogerwa Katonda ng’agamba nti,
32 "I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."
‘Nze, ndi Katonda wa Ibulayimu era ndi Katonda wa Isaaka era ndi Katonda wa Yakobo?’ Noolwekyo Katonda si Katonda wa bafu wabula Katonda wa balamu.”
33 And when the crowds heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
Ebibiina ne biwuniikirira bwe baawulira okuyigiriza kwe.
34 As soon as the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together,
Abafalisaayo bwe baawulira nga Yesu Abasaddukaayo abamazeeko eby’okwogera, ne bakuŋŋaana.
35 and one of them, a lawyer, tested him by asking a question.
Omu ku bo eyali munnamateeka n’amubuuza ekibuuzo ng’amugezesa nti,
36 "Master, which is the great commandment in the law?"
“Omuyigiriza, tteeka ki erisinga obukulu mu mateeka.”
37 Jesus answered, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Yesu n’addamu nti, “‘Yagalanga Mukama Katonda wo n’omutima gwo gwonna, n’obulamu bwo bwonna, n’amagezi go gonna.’
38 "This is the great and first commandment.
Eryo ly’etteeka ery’olubereberye era lye Iisingira ddala obukulu.
39 "The second, which is like it, is this, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
N’eryokubiri eririfaananako lye lino nti, ‘Yagalanga muliraanwa wo nga gwe bwe weeyagala wekka.’
40 "On those two commandments hang the whole law and the prophets."
Amateeka amalala gonna gasinziira mu mateeka ago gombi ne bya bannabbi.”
41 Now while the Pharisees were together, Jesus put this question to them.
Awo mu kiseera ekyo Abafalisaayo nga bakuŋŋaanye, Yesu n’ababuuza nti,
42 "What is your opinion concerning the Christ? Whose Son is he?" "David’s," they answered.
“Kristo mumulowoozako mutya? Mwana waani?” Ne baddamu nti, “Mwana wa Dawudi.”
43 "How then, "he said, "does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
Yesu kyeyava ababuuza nti, “Dawudi ng’ajjudde Omwoyo bw’ayogera ku Kristo, lwaki ate amuyita ‘Mukama we’, ng’agamba nti,
44 "The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand Until I put thine enemies beneath thy feet?
“‘Mukama yagamba Mukama wange nti: “Tuulira wano ku mukono gwange ogwa ddyo, okutuusa lwe ndifufuggaza abalabe bo ne mbassa wansi w’ebigere byo?”’
45 "If David calls him Lord, how can he be his Son?"
Noolwekyo obanga Dawudi amuyita ‘Mukama we,’ kale, ate abeera atya omwana we?”
46 No one could answer him a word, nor did any one dare from that day to ask him another question.
Ne wataba n’omu amuddamu, era okuva olwo ne watabaawo ayaŋŋanga kwongera kumubuuza bibuuzo birala.
