John 16
1 "I have told you all this so that you may not stumble.
Estas coisas tenho vos dito para que não tropeceis na fé.
2 "They will excommunicate you from their synagogues; indeed the time is coming when any one who kills you will suppose that he is doing God’s service.
Expulsarão a vós das sinagogas; mas a hora vem, quando qualquer que vos matar, pensará fazer serviço a Deus.
3 "And they will do these things because they have not known my Father, nor me.
E estas coisas vos farão, porque nem ao Pai, nem a mim me conheceram.
4 "But I have told you these things, that when the time comes you may remember that I told you about them, myself. I did not, however, speak of these things at first, because I was with you.
Porém tenho vos dito isto para que, quando aquela hora vier, disso vos lembreis, que já o dissera a vós; mas isto eu não vos disse desde o princípio, porque eu estava convosco.
5 "But now I go my way to Him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
E agora vou para aquele que me enviou; e nenhum de vós me pergunta: Para onde vais?
6 "but sorrow has filled your hearts because I have told you these things.
Porém, porque vos disse estas coisas, a tristeza encheu vosso coração.
7 "Yet - I am telling you the truth - my going is for your good. For unless I go away the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart I will send him unto you.
Mas vos digo a verdade, que vos convém que eu vá; porque se eu não for, o Consolador não virá a vós; porém se eu for, eu o enviarei a vós.
8 "And he, when he comes, will convict the world of sins and of righteousness and of judgment;
E vindo ele, convencerá ao mundo do pecado, e da justiça, e do juízo.
9 "of sin, because they do not believe in me;
Do pecado, porque não creem em mim;
E da justiça, porque vou para meu Pai, e não me vereis mais;
11 "because the Prince of this world has been judged.
E do juízo, porque o Príncipe deste mundo já está julgado.
12 "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them just now.
Ainda tenho muitas coisas que vos dizer, mas agora [ainda] não podeis suportá-las.
13 "But when he is come, that Spirit of Truth, he will guide you into the whole truth. For he will not speak on his own authority, but all that he hears he will speak, and will make known to you that which is to come.
Porém quando vier aquele Espírito de verdade, ele vos guiará em toda verdade. Porque de si mesmo não falará; mas falará tudo o que ouvir; E ele vos anunciará as coisas que virão.
14 "He will glorify me; for he will take of what is mine and will make known to you.
Ele me glorificará, porque tomará do [que é] meu, e vos anunciará.
15 "Everything that the Father has is mine; that is why I said that he will take of what is mine and make it known to you.
Tudo quanto tem o Pai é meu; por isso eu disse, que tomará do [que é] meu, e vos anunciará.
16 "In a little while you shall behold me no more; and again in a little while you shall see me, because I am going to the Father."
Um pouco, e não me vereis; e mais um pouco, e me vereis.
17 At this some of his disciples said among themselves. "What does he mean by telling us, ‘In a little while you shall behold me no more; and again in a little while you shall see me,’ and ‘because I am going to the Father’?"
Disseram pois [alguns] de seus discípulos uns aos outros: Que é isto que ele nos diz: Um pouco, e não me vereis; e mais um pouco, e me vereis; e porque vou ao Pai?
18 So they kept asking. "What does that ‘little while’ mean of which he speaks? We do not know what he is talking about."
Então diziam: Que é isto que ele diz? Um pouco? Não sabemos o que diz.
19 Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and said. "Are you questioning one another about my saying, ‘A little while and you shall behold me no more, and again a little while you shall see me’?
Conheceu pois Jesus que lhe queriam perguntar, e disse-lhes: Perguntais entre vós sobre isto que disse: Um pouco, e não me vereis; e mais um pouco, e me vereis?
20 "I tell you solemnly that you will be weeping and wailing while the world is rejoicing; you will be grief-stricken, but your grief shall be turned into gladness.
Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que vós chorareis, e lamentareis, e o mundo se alegrará, e vós estareis tristes; mas vossa tristeza se tornará em alegria.
21 "A woman in labor has grief because her hour is come; but when she has given birth to the babe she no longer remembers her anguish, because of joy that a child has been born into the world.
A mulher quando está no parto tem tristeza, porque sua hora é vinda; mas havendo nascido a criança, já não se lembra da aflição, pela alegria de um homem ter nascido no mundo.
22 "So you also have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy shall no man snatch away from you.
Assim também vós agora na verdade tendes tristeza; mas novamente vos verei, e vosso coração se alegrará, e ninguém tirará vossa alegria de vós.
23 "And in that day you will ask me no questions. Most solemnly I tell you that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.
E naquele dia nada me perguntareis. Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que tudo quanto pedirdes a meu Pai em meu nome, ele vos dará.
24 "Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Até agora nada pedistes em meu nome; pedi, e recebereis, para que vossa alegria seja completa.
25 "I have told you these things in figures; but the time is coming when I shall no longer speak in figures, but will tell you about the Father in plain words.
Estas coisas vos falei por parábolas; porém a hora vem quando não mais vos falarei por parábolas; mas vos falarei abertamente sobre o Pai.
26 "In that day you shall pray in my name; and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father on your behalf;
Naquele dia pedireis em meu nome; e não vos digo, que eu suplicarei ao Pai por vós.
27 "for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and believed that I came forth from the God.
Pois o próprio Pai vos ama, porque vós me amastes, e crestes que eu saí de Deus.
28 "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world. again, I am leaving the world, and am going to the Father."
Saí do Pai, e vim ao mundo; novamente deixo o mundo, e vou ao Pai.
29 "Ah," said the disciples, "now you are speaking plain language, and not using figures.
Disseram-lhe seus Discípulos: Eis que agora falas abertamente, e nenhuma parábola dizes.
30 Now we are sure that you know all things, and have no need for any one to question you; by this we believe that you came forth from God."
Agora sabemos que sabes todas as coisas; e não necessitas que ninguém te pergunte. Por isso cremos que saíste de Deus.
31 "Do you now believe?" said Jesus;
Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Agora credes?
32 "behold the hour approaches and is already come when you will be scattered, each man to his home, and will leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Eis que a hora vem, e já é chegada, quando sereis dispersos, cada um por si, e me deixareis só. Porém não estou só, porque o Pai está comigo.
33 "I have said all this to you that in me you might have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be courageous; I have overcome the world."
Estas coisas tenho vos dito para que tenhais paz em mim; no mundo tereis aflição; mas tende bom ânimo; eu venci o mundo.
