John 12
1 So then Jesus came six days before the Passover, to Bethany, where Lazarus was whom Jesus had raised from the dead.
૧પાસ્ખાપર્વના છ દિવસ અગાઉ ઈસુ બેથાનિયા આવ્યા, લાજરસ, જેને ઈસુએ મરણમાંથી સજીવન કર્યો હતો તે ત્યાં હતો.
2 So they gave a dinner for him there, and Martha served it; but Lazarus was one of those who reclined with him at table.
૨માટે તેઓએ તેને માટે ખોરાક તૈયાર કર્યો હતો અને માર્થા ભોજન પીરસતી હતી, લાજરસ ઈસુની સાથે જમવા બેઠેલાઓમાંનો એક હતો.
3 Then Mary took a pound of pure spikenard, very costly, and poured it over his feet, and wiped his feet with her hair, and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
૩તે વેળા મરિયમે અતિ મૂલ્યવાન શુદ્ધ જટામાંસીનું અડધો કિલો અત્તર લઈને ઈસુને પગે લગાવ્યું અને તેના વાળથી તેમના પગ લૂછ્યા; અત્તરની સુગંધ આખા ઘરમાં પ્રસરી ગઈ.
4 Then said Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, who was about to betray him,
૪તેમના શિષ્યોમાંનો એક, યહૂદા ઇશ્કારિયોત, જે તેમને પરસ્વાધીન કરનાર હતો, તેણે કહ્યું કે,
5 "Why was not this perfume sold for fifty dollars, and the proceeds given to the poor?"
૫‘એ અત્તર ત્રણસો દીનારે ઇઝરાયલનું નાણું વેચીને ગરીબોને શા માટે આપવામાં આવ્યા નહિ?’”
6 This he said not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and, carrying the purse,
૬હવે આ જે તેણે કહ્યું તેનું કારણ એ નહોતું કે તેને ગરીબોને માટે લાગણી હતી; પણ તે ચોર હતો અને થેલી રાખતો હતો. તેમાં જે નાખવામાં આવતું તે તે ચોરી લેતો હતો તે માટે કહ્યું.
7 used to purloin what was put in it. Then said Jesus. "Let her alone. Against the day of my burial has she kept this;
૭ત્યારે ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘મારા દફનાવવાનાં દિવસને માટે મરિયમને એવું કરવા દે.
8 for the poor you have with you always, but me you have not always."
૮કેમ કે ગરીબો હંમેશા તમારી સાથે છે; પણ હું સદા તમારી સાથે નથી.’”
9 When the great mass of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came not alone because of Jesus, but to see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
૯ત્યારે યહૂદીઓમાંના ઘણાં લોકોએ જાણ્યું કે તે ત્યાં છે, ત્યારે તેઓ એકલા ઈસુને લીધે નહિ, પણ લાજરસ જેને તેમણે મરણમાંથી જીવિત કર્યો હતો, તેને પણ જોવા માટે આવ્યા.
10 And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too,
૧૦મુખ્ય યાજકોએ લાજરસને પણ મારી નાખવાની મસલત કરી.
11 because it was on his account that many of the Jews were leaving them, and beginning to believe on Jesus.
૧૧કેમ કે તેના કારણથી ઘણાં યહૂદીઓ ચાલ્યા ગયા અને ઈસુ પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો.
12 Next day the big crowd who had come up for the Passover heard that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem,
૧૨બીજે દિવસે પર્વમાં આવેલા ઘણાં લોકોએ એવું સાંભળ્યું કે, ઈસુ યરુશાલેમ આવે છે;
13 and taking branches from the palm trees went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord. Even Israel’s King!"
૧૩ત્યારે ખજૂરીની ડાળીઓ લઈને તેઓ તેમને મળવાને બહાર ગયા; અને ઊંચા અવાજે કહ્યું કે, ‘હોસાન્ના; પ્રભુને નામે ઇઝરાયલના જે રાજા આવે છે, તે આશીર્વાદિત છે.
14 And Jesus found a young ass and seated himself on it, as it is written,
૧૪ઈસુને ગધેડાનો એક વછેરો મળ્યો ત્યારે તેના પર તેઓ બેઠા, જેમ લખેલું છે તેમ કે,
15 Fear not, daughter of Zion, Behold thy King cometh seated upon an ass’s colt.
૧૫‘ઓ સિયોનની દીકરી, બીશ નહિ; જો, તારા રાજા ગધેડાના વછેરા પર બેસીને આવે છે.’”
16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus had been glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written concerning him, and what they had done to him.
૧૬પ્રથમ તેના શિષ્યો એ વાતો સમજ્યા ન હતા, પણ ઈસુ મહિમાવાન થયા, ત્યારે તેઓને યાદ આવ્યું કે, ઈસુના સંબંધી એ વાતો લખેલી છે, તે જ પ્રમાણે તેઓએ તેમને કર્યું છે.
17 Meanwhile the crowd which was with him when he summoned Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead, kept witnessing.
૧૭તેમણે લાજરસને કબરમાંથી બોલાવ્યો અને મરેલાઓમાંથી જીવિત કર્યો, તે વખતે જે લોક તેમની સાથે હતા, તેઓએ આ બીનાને સમર્થન આપ્યું.
18 For this reason, too, the crowd came to meet him, because they had heard about this sign which he had done.
૧૮તે કારણથી પણ લોકો તેમને મળવા ગયા; કેમ કે તેમણે એ ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્ન કર્યું હતું એવું તેઓએ સાંભળ્યું હતું.
19 Then the Pharisees said among themselves. "You see! You can do nothing! Look! The world is gone after him!"
૧૯તે માટે ફરોશીઓએ પરસ્પર કહ્યું કે, ‘જુઓ, આપણું તો કંઈ વળતું નથી; જુઓ, આખું માનવજગત તેમની પાછળ ગયું છે.
20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who had come up to worship during the Passover feast;
૨૦હવે પર્વમાં ભજન કરવાને જેઓ આવ્યા હતા, તેઓમાંના કેટલાક લોકો ગ્રીક હતા;
21 these came to Philip of Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. "Sir," they said, "we want to see Jesus."
૨૧માટે તેઓએ ગાલીલના બેથસાઈદાના ફિલિપની પાસે આવીને તેમને વિનંતી કરતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘ભાઈ, અમે ઈસુને જોવા ચાહીએ છીએ.’”
22 Philip went and told Andrew. Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered.
૨૨ફિલિપે આવીને આન્દ્રિયાને કહ્યું; આન્દ્રિયા તથા ફિલિપે આવીને ઈસુને કહ્યું.
23 "The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified.
૨૩ત્યારે ઈસુએ તેઓને જવાબ કહ્યું કે, ‘માણસના દીકરાને મહિમાવાન થવાનો સમય આવ્યો છે.
24 In solemn truth I tell you that except a kernel of wheat fall into the ground and die, it remains a single kernel; but if it die it bears a great crop.
૨૪હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું, જો ઘઉંનો દાણો જમીનમાં પડીને મરતો નથી, તો તે એકલો રહે છે; પણ જો તે મરે, તો તે ઘણાં ફળ આપે છે.
25 He who loves his life loses it; and he who regards not his life in this world shall keep it for eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
૨૫જે પોતાનો જીવ સાચવે છે, તે તેને ગુમાવે છે; જે આ જગતમાં પોતાના જીવ પર દ્વેષ કરે છે, તે અનંતજીવનને સારુ તેને બચાવી રાખશે. (aiōnios g166)
26 If any one is ready to serve me, let him follow me; and where I am there shall my servant be also. If any man is ready to serve me, him will my Father honor.
૨૬જો કોઈ મારી સેવા કરતો હોય, તો તેણે મારી પાછળ ચાલવું; અને જ્યાં હું છું, ત્યાં મારો સેવક પણ રહેશે; જો કોઈ મારી સેવા કરતો હોય, તો બાપ તેને માન આપશે.
27 Now is my soul disquieted. What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? Nay, for this very cause I am come to this hour.
૨૭હવે મારો જીવ વ્યાકુળ થયો છે; હું શું કહું? ઓ બાપ, મને આ ઘડીથી બચાવ. પણ આને લીધે જ તો હું આ ઘડી સુધી આવ્યો છું.
28 Father, glorify thy name!" Whereupon there came a voice from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."
૨૮ઓ બાપ, તમારા નામનો મહિમા થાઓ, ત્યારે સ્વર્ગમાંથી એવી વાણી થઈ કે, ‘મેં તેનો મહિમા કર્યો છે અને ફરી કરીશ.’”
29 Then the crowd who stood around and heard it, said, "It thundered!" But others said, "An angel has spoken to him."
૨૯ત્યારે જે લોકોએ પાસે ઊભા રહીને તે સાંભળ્યું હતું, તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, ‘ગર્જના થઈ;’ બીજાઓએ કહ્યું કે, ‘સ્વર્ગદૂતે તેમની સાથે વાત કરી.’”
30 "It is not for my sake," answered Jesus, "that the voice came, but for your sakes.
૩૦ઈસુએ જવાબ આપતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘એ વાણી મારે માટે નહિ, પણ તમારે માટે થઈ છે.’”
31 Now is a judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be driven out.
૩૧હવે આ માનવજગતનો ન્યાય કરવામાં આવે છે; હવે આ જગતના અધિકારીને બહાર કાઢી મૂકવામાં આવશે.
32 "AND I, IF I BE LIFTED UP FROM THE EARTH, WILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO MYSELF."
૩૨અને જો હું પૃથ્વી પરથી ઊંચો કરાઈશ, તો હું સર્વને મારી પોતાની તરફ ખેંચીશ.
33 (In saying this he was signifying by what kind of death he was to die.)
૩૩પોતાનું મૃત્યુ શી રીતે થવાનું છે, એ સૂચવતાં તેમણે એ પ્રમાણે કહ્યું.
34 Then the people answered. "We have heard out of the Law that the Christ abides forever. What do you mean by ‘The Son of man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of man?" (aiōn g165)
૩૪એ માટે લોકોએ તેમને ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, ‘ખ્રિસ્ત સદા રહેશે, એમ અમે નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાંથી સાંભળ્યું છે; તો માણસનો દીકરો ઊંચો કરાવો જોઈએ, એમ તમે કેમ કહો છો? એ માણસનો દીકરો કોણ છે?’” (aiōn g165)
35 "The Light is among you a little longer," answered Jesus. "Walk while you have the Light, lest darkness overtake you. He who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.
૩૫ત્યારે ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘હજી થોડીવાર તમારી મધ્યે પ્રકાશ છે; જ્યાં સુધી તમને પ્રકાશ છે, ત્યાં સુધી ચાલો, રખેને અંધકાર તમારા પર આવી પડે; અને જે અંધકારમાં ચાલે છે તે જાણતો નથી કે તે પોતે ક્યાં જાય છે.
36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become Sons of Light."
૩૬જ્યાં સુધી તમને પ્રકાશ છે, ત્યાં સુધી પ્રકાશ પર વિશ્વાસ કરો, એ માટે કે તમે અજવાળાનાં બાળકો થાઓ. એ વાતો કહીને ઈસુ ચાલ્યા ગયા, અને તેઓથી સંતાઈ રહ્યા.
37 With these words Jesus went away and hid himself from them. But although he had wrought such signs in their presence, still they did not believe in him.
૩૭ઈસુએ આટલાં બધાં ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્નો તેઓના દેખતા કર્યાં હતાં, તોપણ તેઓએ તેમના પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો નહિ.
38 So the words spoken by Isaiah, the prophet, were fulfilled. Lord, who hath believed our message, And to whom hath the Arm of the Lord been revealed?
૩૮એ માટે કે યશાયા પ્રબોધકનું વચન પૂરું થાય કે, ‘પ્રભુ, અમને જે કહેવામાં આવ્યું તે પર કોણે વિશ્વાસ કર્યો છે? પ્રભુનો હાથ કોની સમક્ષ પ્રગટ થયો છે?’”
39 This was why they could not believe, because Isaiah said again.
૩૯તે માટે તેઓ વિશ્વાસ કરી ન શક્યા, કેમ કે વળીપાછું યશાયા પ્રબોધકે કહ્યું હતું કે,
40 He hath blinded their eyes and make their hearts hard, Lest they should see with their eyes, perceive with their minds, And should turn, and I should heal them.
૪૦‘તેઓ આંખોથી દેખે નહિ, મનથી સમજે નહિ, પાછા ફરે નહિ, હું તેઓને સારા કરું નહિ, એ માટે તેમણે તેઓની આંખો અંધ કરી છે. અને તેઓનાં મન કઠોર થઈ ગયા છે.’”
41 Isaiah uttered these words because he saw his glory, and he spoke of him.
૪૧યશાયાએ તેમનો મહિમા જોયો હતો તેણે એ વાતો જણાવી; અને તે તેમના વિષે બોલ્યો.
42 Nevertheless, even among the rulers many believed on him, but did not confess in on account of the Pharisees, for fear lest they be put out of the Synagogue.
૪૨તોપણ અધિકારીઓમાંના પણ ઘણાંએ તેમના પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો; પણ રખેને ફરોશીઓ અમને સભાસ્થાનમાંથી કાઢી મૂકે, એ બીકથી તેઓએ તેમને જાહેરમાં કબૂલ કર્યા નહિ.
43 For they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.
૪૩કેમ કે ઈશ્વરના તરફથી થતી પ્રશંસા કરતાં તેઓ માણસો તરફથી થતી પ્રશંસા વધારે ચાહતા હતા.
44 Now Jesus, speaking in a loud voice, had said.
૪૪ત્યારે ઈસુએ ઊંચા અવાજે કહ્યું કે, ‘મારા પર જે વિશ્વાસ કરે છે, તે એકલો મારા પર નહિ, પણ જેમણે મને મોકલ્યો છે, તેમના પર પણ વિશ્વાસ રાખે છે.
45 "He who believes in me believes not in me, but in Him who sent me; and he who sees me sees him who sent me.
૪૫જે મને જુએ છે, તે જેણે મને મોકલ્યો છે તેમને પણ જુએ છે.
46 Like light am I come into the world, so that no one who believes in me may remain in darkness.
૪૬જે કોઈ મારા પર વિશ્વાસ રાખે છે, તે અંધકારમાં રહે નહિ માટે દુનિયામાં હું પ્રકાશરૂપે આવ્યો છું.
47 And if any one hears my words and does not keep them, it is not I who judge him; for I am not come to judge the world, but to save the world.
૪૭જો કોઈ મારી વાતો સાંભળીને તેને પાળતો નથી, તો હું તેનો ન્યાય કરતો નથી; કેમ કે હું માનવજગતનો ન્યાય કરવા માટે નહીં, પણ માનવ જગતનો ઉદ્ધાર કરવા માટે આવ્યો છું.
48 He who rejects me, and does not receive my words, has indeed a judge. The message which I have spoken, that shall judge him in the Last Day,
૪૮જે મારો ઇનકાર કરે છે અને મારી વાતો સ્વીકારતો નથી, તેનો ન્યાય કરનાર એક છે; જે વાત મેં કહી છે, તે જ અંતિમ દિવસે તેનો ન્યાય કરશે.
49 because I have never spoken on my own authority, but the Father himself who sent me gave me commandment what to say and what words to speak.
૪૯કેમ કે મેં પોતાના તરફથી નથી કહ્યું, પણ મારે શું કહેવું, તથા મારે શું બોલવું, એ વિષે પિતા જેમણે મને મોકલ્યો છે તેમણે મને આજ્ઞા આપી છે.
