< Galatians 4 >

1 What I mean is this. As long as the heir is a child, he differs in no respect from a slave, though he be the owner of the whole inheritance;
Wanni ani jedhu kana; dhaaltuun yoo qabeenyi hundi kan isaa taʼe iyyuu inni hamma daaʼima taʼee jirutti garba irraa adda miti.
2 but is under the control of guardians and trustees, until the time appointed by his father.
Inni hamma guyyaan abbaan isaa murteesse sun gaʼutti warra isa eeganii fi warra isa guddisan jala jira.
3 So we Jews also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the empty externalities of the world.
Nus akkasuma bara daaʼimman turretti garbummaa sirna addunyaa jala turre.
4 But when the fulness of time was come God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under law,
Yommuu yeroon murteeffame sun gaʼetti garuu Waaqni Ilma isaa isa dubartii irraa dhalate, kan seera jalatti dhalate sana erge;
5 to redeem from captivity those under law, in order that we might receive our sonship.
kunis akka nu mirga ilmummaa argannuuf warra seera jala jiran furuuf.
6 And because you are sons, God sent forth the spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, "Dear, dear Father!"
Sababii isin ilmaan taataniifis Waaqni Hafuura Ilma isaa kan, “Aabbaa, yaa Abbaa” jedhee waamu sana gara keessa garaa keenyaatti erge.
7 So each one of you is no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir, too, through God’s grace.
Kanaaf ati siʼachi ilma malee garba miti; erga ilma taatee immoo Waaqni dhaaltuu si taasiseera.
8 But once, when you Gentiles had no knowledge of God, you were slaves to gods which have no real being.
Isin utuu Waaqa hin beekiniin dura, waaqota uumama isaaniitiin waaqota hin taʼiniif garboomtanii turtan.
9 Now, however, when you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you are beginning to turn back to those weak and beggarly externalities, eager to be in bondage to them again?
Amma garuu isin erga Waaqa beektanii, keessumattuu erga Waaqa biratti beekamtanii booddee akkamitti gara sirnoota dadhaboo fi sirnoota faayidaa hin qabneetti deebitu ree? Isin ammas isaaniif garboomuu barbaadduu?
10 You are scrupulous, are you, in observing "days" and "months" and "seasons" and "years"?
Isin guyyoota, jiʼoota, waqtiilee fi waggoota addaa kabajju!
11 I am alarmed about you for fear lest I may have bestowed labor on you to no purpose.
Ani akkasumaan isinitti dadhabe jedheen isiniif sodaadha.
12 Brothers, I beseech you, become as I am, because I also have become as you are. You never did me any wrong;
Yaa obboloota, akkuma ani isin fakkaadhe, isinis akka na fakkaattan isin kadhadha. Isin balleessaa tokko illee natti hin hojjenne.
13 on the contrary, you know that although it was illness which brought about my preaching the gospel to you at my first visit,
Yeroo jalqabaatti akka ani sababii dhukkubaatiin wangeela isinitti lallabe ni beektu;
14 and although my bodily affliction was a trial to you, you did not scoff at it nor spurn me, but welcomed me like an angel of God, like Christ Jesus himself.
yoo dhukkubni koo qoramsa isinitti taʼe iyyuu, isin akka waan ani ergamaa Waaqaa taʼeetti, akka waan ani Kiristoos Yesuus matuma isaa taʼeetti na simattan malee na hin tuffanne yookaan na hin balfine.
15 Why then did you account yourselves so happy? (For I bear you witness that if you could you would have torn out your own eyes and given them to me.)
Eebbi keessan sun hundi eessa jira? Utuu dandaʼamee ija keessan illee akka of keessaa baaftanii naa kennuun fedhii keessan ture ani dhugaa baʼuu nan dandaʼa.
16 Am I then become your enemy, because I am telling you the truth?
Egaa ani waan dhugaa isinitti himeef diina keessan taʼee ree?
17 These men are courting your favor to no good purpose. They want to isolate you, so that you will be courting their favor.
Namoonni sun ofitti isin deebisuuf hinaafu; garuu waan gaariif miti. Isaan akka isin isaaniif hinaaftaniif nurraa gargar isin baasuu barbaadu.
18 It is always an honorable thing to have your favor sought in an honorable cause, always, and not only when I am with you.
Yeroo ani isin bira jiru qofa utuu hin taʼin yeroo hundumaa kaayyoo gaariif hinaaffaa qabaachuun gaarii dha.
19 O my little children, of whom I travail again in birth until Christ be formed within you!
Yaa ijoollee ko, ani hamma Kiristoos isin keessatti mulʼatutti ammas isiniif jedhee nan ciniinsifadha;
20 How I wish I could be with you now, that I might change my tone; for I am perplexed about you.
ani waaʼee keessaniif waan shakkii keessa jiruuf utuu isin biratti argamee sagalee koo geeddaradhee akkam hawwan ture!
21 Tell me, you who wish to be subject to the Law, why do you not listen to the Law?
Warri seera jala jiraachuu barbaaddan mee natti himaa; isin waan seerri jedhu hin dhageenyee?
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and one by the free woman;
“Abrahaam ilmaan lama qaba ture; tokko dubartii garbittii irraa, kaan immoo dubartii birmaduu irraa dhalate” jedhamee barreeffameeraatii.
23 but while the son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, the son by the free woman was born in fulfilment of a promise.
Ilmi isaa inni dubartii garbittii irraa dhalate akka fedhii fooniitti dhalate; inni dubartii birmaduu irraa dhalate immoo akka waadaatti dhalate.
24 Now all this is an allegory, for these women are the two covenants; one from Mount Sinai, which is Hagar bearing children into bondage
Kunis akka fakkeenyaatti fudhatamuu dandaʼa; dubartoonni kunneen kakuuwwan lamaan argisiisu. Kakuun tokko kan Tulluu Siinaa ti; kunis garbummaaf ijoollee horti; isheenis Aggaar.
25 (for the word Hagar stands for Mt. Sinai in Arabia and represents the present Jerusalem who with her children is in bondage.)
Egaa Aggaar akka Tulluu Siinaa isa biyya Arabaa keessaa ti; isheenis magaalaa Yerusaalem ishee yeroo ammaatti fakkeeffamti; magaalaan kun ijoollee ishee wajjin garbummaa keessa jirtiitii.
26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
Yerusaalem isheen samii irraa garuu birmaduu dha; isheenis haadha keenya.
27 For it is written, Rejoice, O thou barren one who dost never bear, Break forth in joy, thou that dost not travail; For the children of the desolate woman are many. Yea, more than hers who has a husband.
Akkana jedhamee barreeffameeraatii: “Yaa dubartii dhabduu kan ijoollee tokko illee hin daʼin ati gammadi; atis kan ciniinsifattee hin beekne guddisiitii ililchi; ijoollee dubartii dhirsa qabduu caalaa, ijoolleen dubartii gatamtee ni baayʼatu.”
28 But you, brothers, are like Isaac, children of the promise;
Yaa obboloota, isinis akkuma Yisihaaq ijoollee waadaa ti.
29 but just as in old times the son born by the flesh used to persecute the son born by the power of the Spirit, so also it is now.
Yeroo sana ilmi akka fedhii fooniitti dhalate sun ilma humna Hafuuraatiin dhalate ariʼate. Amma illee akkasuma.
30 But what does the Scripture say? Send away the slave-woman and her son; for the slave’s son shall not be heir along with the son of the free woman.
Garuu Katabbiin Qulqulluun maal jedha? “Garbittii sanaa fi ilma ishee ariʼi; ilmi garbittii sun ilma dubartittii birmaduu wajjin hin dhaaluutii” jedha.
31 So, brothers, we are the children of no slave woman, but of free woman. For freedom did not Christ set us free;
Kanaafuu yaa obboloota, nu ilmaan dubartii birmaduu sanaati malee ilmaan garbittii miti.
