< Acts 1 >

1 My first account, O Theophilus, dealt with all that Jesus began doing and teaching from the beginning down to the day when,
Nínú ìwé mi ìṣáájú, Teofilu, ni mo ti kọ ní ti ohun gbogbo tí Jesu bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí ṣe àti kọ́
2 after giving instructions through the Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen, he was taken up to heaven.
títí ó fi di ọjọ́ tí a gbà á lọ sókè ọ̀run, lẹ́yìn tí ó ti ti ipa Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ pàṣẹ fún àwọn aposteli tí ó yàn.
3 After his sufferings he had also shown himself alive to them in many convincing manifestations, revealing himself to them during forty days, and speaking of the kingdom of God.
Lẹ́yìn ìjìyà rẹ̀, ó fi ara rẹ̀ hàn fún wọn àti ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ẹ̀rí tí ó dájú pé òun wà láààyè. Ó fi ara hàn wọ́n fún ogójì ọjọ́, ó sì sọ̀rọ̀ nípa ìjọba Ọlọ́run.
4 And once when he was eating with them he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father. "Of this," he said, "you have heard from me.
Ní àkókò kan bí ó sì ti ń jẹun pẹ̀lú wọn, ó pàṣẹ yìí fún wọn, “Ẹ má ṣe kúrò ní Jerusalẹmu, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ dúró de ìlérí tí Baba mi ṣe ìlérí, èyí tí ẹ̀yin tí gbọ́ lẹ́nu mi.
5 "For John indeed baptized in water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence."
Nítorí Johanu fi omi bamitiisi yín, ṣùgbọ́n ní ọjọ́ díẹ̀ sí i, a o fi Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ bamitiisi yín.”
6 So, when they came together, they began to ask him, "Master, are you at this time about to restore the kingdom of Israel?"
Nítorí náà, nígbà tí wọ́n sì péjọpọ̀, wọn bi í léèrè pé, “Olúwa, láti ìgbà yí lọ ìwọ yóò ha mú ìjọba padà fún Israẹli bí?”
7 He answered. "It is not for you to know times and occasions which the Father has fixed in his own authority;
Ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Kì í ṣe tiyín ni láti mọ àkókò tàbí ìgbà tí Baba ti yàn nípa àṣẹ òun tìkára rẹ̀.
8 "yet you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you are to be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the very ends of the earth."
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin yóò gba agbára, nígbà tí Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ bá bà lé e yín; ẹ̀yin yóò sì máa ṣe ẹlẹ́rìí mi ni Jerusalẹmu, àti ní gbogbo Judea, àti ní Samaria, àti títí dé òpin ilẹ̀ ayé.”
9 When he had said this, and while they were looking at him, he was lifted up, and a cloud received him up out of their sight.
Nígbà tí ó sì tí wí nǹkan wọ̀nyí, a gbà á sókè lójú wọn; ìkùùkuu àwọsánmọ̀ sì gbà á kúrò lójú wọn.
10 While they were gazing into the sky as he was going up, suddenly there were two men in white garments standing by them,
Bí wọ́n sì ti tẹjúmọ́ ojú ọ̀run bí ó ti ń lọ sókè, lójijì, àwọn ọkùnrin méjì tí ó wọ aṣọ funfun dúró létí ọ̀dọ̀ wọn.
11 and they said. "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into the sky will come back in just the same way as you have seen him going into the sky."
Wọ́n sì wí pé, “Ẹ̀yin ara Galili, èéṣe tí ẹ̀yin fi dúró tí ẹ̀ ń wo ojú ọ̀run? Jesu yìí, tí a gbà sókè ọ̀run kúrò lọ́wọ́ yín, yóò padà bẹ́ẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ ti rí tí ó ń lọ sì ọ̀run.”
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, about a Sabbath Day’s journey distant.
Lẹ́yìn náà ni wọ́n padà sí Jerusalẹmu láti orí òkè ti a ń pè ni olifi, tí ó tó ìwọ̀n ìrìn ọjọ́ ìsinmi kan.
13 On entering the city they went to the upper room where they were accustomed to meet. They were Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James, son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.
Nígbà tí wọn sì wọlé, wọn lọ sí iyàrá òkè, níbi tí wọ́n ń gbé. Àwọn tó wà níbẹ̀ ni: Peteru, Jakọbu, Johanu àti Anderu; Filipi àti Tomasi; Bartolomeu àti Matiu; Jakọbu ọmọ Alfeu, Simoni Sealoti, àti Judasi arákùnrin Jakọbu.
14 These all with one mind gave their constant attention to prayer, together with some women, and with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
Gbogbo àwọn wọ̀nyí pẹ̀lú àwọn obìnrin àti Maria ìyá Jesu àti àwọn arákùnrin rẹ̀ fi ọkàn kan dúró láti máa gbàdúrà.
15 It was during these days that Peter stood up among the brothers - the whole number of persons present was about one hundred and twenty - and said.
Ní ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí ni Peteru sí dìde dúró láàrín àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn (iye àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí jẹ́ ọgọ́fà)
16 "Men and brothers, it was necessary for the Scripture to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit uttered beforehand by the lips of David in regard to Judas who acted as guide to those who arrested Jesus.
ó wí pé, “Ẹ̀yin ará, ìwé mímọ́ kò lè ṣe kí ó má ṣẹ, èyí tí Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ ti sọtẹ́lẹ̀ láti ẹnu Dafidi nípa Judasi, tí ó ṣe atọ́nà fún àwọn tí ó mú Jesu.
17 "For he was numbered among us, and he did get his allotted share of this ministry.
Nítorí ọ̀kan nínú wa ni òun ń ṣe tẹ́lẹ̀, òun sì ní ìpín nínú iṣẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ yìí.”
18 "Now this man bought a plot of ground with the price of his treachery, and falling there headlong he burst asunder and all his bowels gushed out.
(Judasi fi èrè àìṣòótọ́ rẹ̀ ra ilẹ̀ kan; nígbà tí ó sì ṣubú ni ògèdèǹgbé, ó bẹ́ ní agbede-méjì, gbogbo ìfun rẹ̀ sì tú jáde.
19 "This fact became known to the people of Jerusalem so that the place was called in their language, Acheldamach, The Field of Blood.
Ó si di mí mọ̀ fún gbogbo àwọn ti ń gbé Jerusalẹmu; nítorí náà ni wọ́n fi ń pè ilẹ̀ náà ni Alkedama ní èdè wọn, èyí sì ni, Ilẹ̀ Ẹ̀jẹ̀.)
20 "For it is written in the Book of Psalms, Let his dwelling-place be desolate; Let no man dwell there, also, Let another take his work.
Peteru sì wí pé, “Nítorí a ti kọ ọ́ nípa rẹ̀ nínú Ìwé Saamu pé, “‘Jẹ́ ki ibùgbé rẹ̀ di ahoro, kí ẹnikẹ́ni má ṣe gbé inú rẹ̀,’ àti, “‘Ipò rẹ̀ ni kí ẹlòmíràn kí ó gbà.’
21 "It is necessary then that, of the men who have been associated with us during the whole time in which the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
Nítorí náà, ó di dandan láti yan ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọkùnrin wọ̀nyí ti ń bá wa rìn ni gbogbo àkókò tí Jesu Olúwa ń wọlé, tí ó sì jáde láàrín wa.
22 from his baptism by John down to the day on which he was taken up from us, one should join us a witness to his resurrection."
Bẹ́ẹ̀ láti ìgbà bamitiisi Johanu títí ó fi di ọjọ́ náà ti a gbe é lọ sókè kúrò lọ́dọ̀ wa. Ó yẹ kí ọ̀kan nínú àwọn wọ̀nyí ṣe ẹlẹ́rìí àjíǹde rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú wa.”
23 So they placed two in nomination, Joseph called Bar-Sabbas (surnamed Justas) and Matthias;
Wọn sì yan àwọn méjì, Josẹfu tí a ń pè ní Barsaba (ẹni tí a sọ àpèlé rẹ̀ ni Justu) àti Mattia.
24 and they prayed, saying. "Thou, O Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show clearly which of these two men thou hast chosen to fill the place
Wọn sì gbàdúrà, wọn sì wí pé, “Olúwa, ìwọ mọ ọkàn gbogbo ènìyàn, fihàn wá nínú àwọn méjì yìí, èwo ni ìwọ yàn
25 "in this ministry of this apostles from which Judas went out to go to his own place."
kí ó lè gba ipò nínú iṣẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ aposteli yìí, èyí tí Judasi kúrò nínú rẹ̀, ki òun kí ó lè lọ sí ipò ti ara rẹ̀.”
26 Then they cast lots for them, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Wọ́n sì dìbò fún wọn; ìbò sí mú Mattia; a sì kà á mọ́ àwọn aposteli mọ́kànlá.
