Acts 27
1 When it was decided that we should sail for Italy, they proceeded to hand over Paul and a few other prisoners to the custody of Julius, a centurion of the Imperial Regiment.
१जेव्हा आम्ही समुद्रमार्गे इटलीला जाण्याचे ठरवले तेव्हा पौल व इतर काही कैद्यांना युल्य नावाच्या शताधिपतीच्या हाती सोपविण्यात आले, युल्य हा अगस्तस सेनेचा एक अधिकारी होता.
2 We embarked in a ship of Adramyttium which was about to sail to the ports of the province of Asia, and put to sea. Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, accompanied us.
२अद्रमुत्तिय येथील एका जहाजातून आम्ही जाणार होतो, हे जहाज आशियाच्या किनाऱ्यावरील बंदरे घेत पुढे जाणार होते, आम्ही या जहाजातून प्रवासास निघालो, तेव्हा मासेदोनियातील थेस्सलनीका येथे राहणारा अरिस्तार्ख आमच्याबरोबर होता.
3 The next day we touched at Sidon. There Julius treated Paul kindly, and gave him leave to visit his friends and refresh himself.
३दुसऱ्या दिवशी आम्ही सिदोन नगराला पोहचलो, युल्य पौलाशी फार चांगला वागला, पौलाच्या मित्रांना त्याची काळजी घेता यावी म्हणून त्याने मोकळीक दिली.
4 Putting to sea from thence we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were against us;
४तेथून आम्ही समुद्रमार्गे पुढे निघालो आणि कुप्रच्या किनाऱ्याकिनाऱ्याने निघालो कारण वारा समोरचा होता.
5 and after sailing across the Cilician and Pamphylian waters, we came to Myra, in Lycia.
५किलकिया व पंफुलिया प्रांताजवळच्या समुद्राला पार करून लुक्या प्रांतातील मुर्या बंदरात पोहचलो.
6 And there the centurion found an Alexandrian ship bound for Italy, and put us on board of her.
६तेथे शताधिपतीला इटलीला जाणारे आलेक्सांद्रीयाचे एक जहाज आढळले, त्याने आम्हास त्या जहजात बसविले.
7 For many days we sailed slowly, and then arrived with difficulty over against Cnidus; from this point, as the wind did not further favor us, we ran under the lee of Crete, off Cape Salmone;
७आम्ही बरेच दिवस हळूहळू प्रवास करीत होतो, कनिदा शहरापर्यंत येण्यासाठी आम्हास फार कष्ट पडले कारण वारा तोंडचा होता, आम्हास पुढे जाता येईना, म्हणून आम्ही क्रेताच्या दक्षिणेकडून सलमोन शहराच्याच्या समोरच्या बाजूस गेलो.
8 and coasting along with difficulty we reached a place called Fair Havens, not far from the town of Lasea.
८यापुढे आमचे जहाज क्रेत बेटाच्या किनाऱ्याने मोठ्या अडचणीतून सुरक्षित बंदर येथे पोहोचले, तेथे जवळच लसया नगर होते.
9 By this time the season was far advanced, and sailing had become dangerous (for the Autumn Fast was past); so Paul began to warn them.
९बराच वेळ वाया गेला होता आणि पुढील प्रवास करणे बरेच अवघड झाले होते, कारण एव्हाना यहूद्यांच्या उपासाचा काळही निघून गेला होता, तेव्हा पौलाने त्यांना सावधानतेचा इशारा दिला, पौल म्हणाला,
10 "Sirs," he said to them, "I perceive that the voyage will be attended with injury and serious loss, not only to the cargo and to the ship, but also to our own lives."
१०“पुरुषांनो, मला वाटते, आपल्या प्रवासात जहाजातील मालाला आणि जहाजालाच नव्हे तर आपल्या जीवालाही धोका होईल.”
11 But the centurion paid greater heed to the master and to the owner than to anything that was spoken by Paul;
११परंतु पौलाच्या मताशी जहाजाचा कप्तान व मालक सहमत झाले नाहीत, उलट जहाजाच्या कप्तानाच्या व मालकाच्या बोलण्यावरच शताधिपतीचा जास्त विश्वास होता.
12 and as the harbor was ill adapted for winter quarters, the majority advised putting out to sea from thence, to see whether they could get to Phoenix and winter there, a harbor on the coast of Crete facing northeast and southeast.
१२परंतु हे सुरक्षित म्हंटलेले बंदर हिवाळ्यात मुक्काम करायला सोईचे नव्हते, म्हणून बहुमताने पुढे निघावे असे ठरले आणि फेनिकेला जाण्याचा प्रयत्न करावा आणि शक्य झाले तर तेथेच हिवाळा घालवावा असे ठरले.
13 And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, they weighed anchor and sailed along Crete, close in shore.
१३तेव्हा दक्षिणेकडून मंद वारे वाहू लागले, तेव्हा ते नांगर उचलून क्रेताच्या किनाऱ्याकिनाऱ्याने तारू हाकारीत जाऊ लागले, जहाजावरच्या लोकांस वाटू लागले की, अशाच प्रकारचे वारे आम्हास पाहिजे होते व तसेच ते वाहत आहे.
14 But it was not long before a furious wind, called Euroclydon, rushed down from the island;
१४परंतु लवकरच क्रेत बेटावरून ‘ईशान्येचे’ म्हंटलेले वादळी वारे वाहू लागले.
15 when the ship was caught and could not face the wind, we gave way to it, and let her drive.
१५आणि जहाज वादळी वाऱ्यात सापडले व त्यास पुढे जाता येईना, तेव्हा पुढे जाण्याचा प्रयत्न सोडून आम्ही वाऱ्याने जहाज भरकटू दिले.
16 Then we ran under the lee of a little island named Claudia, where with great difficulty we were able to secure the ship’s boat.
१६मग कौदा नावाच्या लहानशा बेटाच्या किनाऱ्याकिनाऱ्याने आम्ही जाऊ लागलो, मग थोड्या खटपटीनंतर जीवन रक्षक होडीवर उचलून घेतली.
17 After hauling it aboard, they used ropes to undergird the ship, and since they were fearful lest they should be driven upon the Syrtes, they lowered the gear and lay to.
१७जीवन रक्षक होडी आत घेतल्यावर लोकांनी जहाज दोरखंडाने आवळून बांधले, जहाज वाळू असलेल्या सूर्ती नावाच्या उथळ जागी आदळेल या भीतीने त्यांनी शीड खाली काढले, तेव्हा वाऱ्याने ते भरकटू लागले.
18 And as we were being terribly battered by the storm, the next day they began to throw the freight overboard,
१८जोरदार वादळी वाऱ्याचे तडाखे खावे लागल्याने लोकांनी दुसऱ्या दिवशी जहाजावरील सामान बाहेर टाकून दिले.
19 and on the third day with their own hands they threw the ship’s tackling overboard.
१९तिसऱ्या दिवशी जहाजाची काही सामग्री त्यांनी आपल्या हातांनी बाहेर काढून टाकली.
20 Then when for many days neither sun nor stars were seen, and a great tempest still beat upon us, all hope that we should be saved was now taken away from us.
२०बरेच दिवस आम्हास सूर्य किंवा तारे दिसले नाहीत, वादळ फारच भयंकर होते, आम्ही आमच्या तरण्याची सर्व आशा सोडून दिली, आम्ही मरणार असे आम्हास वाटू लागले.
21 When for a long time they had been without food, Paul stood among them and said. "Men, you ought to have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete, and so have spared yourselves this injury and loss.
२१बराच काळपर्यंत लोकांस उपवास घडल्यावर, मग पौल त्याच्यासमोर उभा राहिला आणि म्हणाला, “गुहस्थांनो, क्रेतावरून मुक्काम हलवू नका, हा माझा सल्ला तुम्ही ऐकायला पाहिजे होता, म्हणजे हा त्रास व ही हानी तुम्हास टाळता आली असती.”
22 "But now take courage. There will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship,
२२पण आता तुम्ही धीर धरावा अशी माझी विनंती आहे, कारण तुमच्यापैकी एकाच्याही जीवाला धोका पोहोंचणार नाही, आपले जहाज मात्र गमवावे लागेल.
23 "for last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve, stood by me and said.
२३मी ज्या देवाचा सेवक आहे आणि ज्याची उपासना मी करतो, त्याचा दूत काल रात्री माझ्या बाजूला उभा राहीला.
24 "‘Fear not, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. Behold, God has granted you the lives of all who are sailing with you.’
२४आणि तो दूत म्हणाला, “पौला भिऊ नको! तुला कैसरापुढे उभे राहिलेच पाहिजे, तुझ्याबरोबर प्रवास करणारे सर्व लोक देवाने त्याच्या दयेने तुला दिले आहेत.
25 "So take courage, men! I believe God, I believe that things will turn out exactly as it has been told me.
२५तेव्हा गृहस्थांनो, तुम्ही सर्व धीर धरा! कारण मला जसे देवाने सांगितले, अगदी तसे होणार असा मला विश्वास आहे.
26 "But we must be cast upon a certain island."
२६परंतु आपणास एखाद्या बेटावर उतरून थांबावे लागले.”
27 It was now the fourteenth night, and we were drifting through the Adriatic Sea when, about midnight, the sailors began to suspect that they were drawing near to some land.
२७चौदाव्या रात्री आमचे जहाज अद्रिया समुद्रातून चालले होते, तेव्हा खलाशांनी जहाज एखाद्या भूमीजवळ पोहोचले असावे असा अंदाज केला.
28 So they sounded and found twenty fathoms; and after a little they sounded again, and found fifteen fathoms.
२८त्यांनी पाण्याची खोली मोजली तेव्हा ती चाळीस मीटर भरली, आणखी काही वेळाने त्यांनी परत एकदा समुद्राची खोली मोजली तेव्हा ती तीस मीटर भरली.
29 Then, fearing lest we should run ashore on the rocks, they threw out four anchors from the stern, and longed for day to come.
२९ओबडधोबड खडकाळ जागेवर आपले जहाज आदळेल अशी भीती वाटल्याने त्यांनी चार नांगर जहाजाच्या मागील बाजूने टाकले आणि दिवस उजाडण्याची प्रार्थना करीत वाट पाहू लागले.
30 And when the sailors were trying to flee from the ship, and had lowered the boat into the sea under pretext of laying anchors from the bow,
३०खलाशांनी जहाजातून सुटका करून घेण्याचा प्रयत्न केला, त्यांनी जहाजाच्या पुढील भागातून नांगर टाकल्याचे भासवून जीवन रक्षक होड्या समुद्रात टाकल्या.
31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, "Unless these men remain on the ship, you cannot be saved."
३१परंतु पौल शताधिपतीला व इतर शिपायांना म्हणाला, “जर हे लोक जहाजात राहणार नाहीत, तर तुम्ही वाचणार नाही.”
32 Then the soldiers cut the ropes of the ship’s boat and let her fall off.
३२यावर शिपायांनी जीवन रक्षक होड्यांचे दोर कापून टाकले आणि त्याखाली पाण्यात पडू दिल्या.
33 And while day was dawning, Paul kept urging them all to take some food. "This is the fourteenth day," he said, "that you have been on the watch, fasting, having eaten nothing.
३३पहाट होण्याअगोदर पौलाने त्या सर्वांना काहीतरी खाण्याचा आग्रह केला, तो म्हणाला, “आज चौदावा दिवस आहे, तुम्ही आतुरतेने वाट पाहत आहात पण खाणेपिणे काही केले नाही, अन्नाचा कणही खाल्ला नाही.
34 "So I beg you to take some food, for this is for your safety. For there shall not a hair perish from the head of any one of you."
३४तुम्ही थोडे तरी खा, कारण तुमचा टिकाव लागण्यासाठी तुम्ही खाणे जरुरीचे आहे, तुम्ही खावे अशी मी तुम्हास विनंती करतो, तुमच्यापैकी कोणाच्या केसासही धक्का लागणार नाही.”
35 When he had so said and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God before them all, and broke it and began to eat.
३५असे बोलल्यानंतर पौलाने भाकर घेतली आणि सर्वांच्या समक्ष देवाचे उपकार मानले, ती भाकर मोडून तो खाऊ लागला.
36 Then they all cheered up and themselves took food.
३६ते पाहून त्या सर्वांना धीर आला आणि ते जेवले.
37 There were in the ship two hundred and seventy-six souls, all told.
३७आम्ही सर्व मिळून जहाजात दोनशे शहात्तर लोक होतो.
38 After eating a hearty meal, they began to lighten the ship by throwing the wheat overboard.
३८त्या सर्वांनी पुरेसे खाल्ल्या प्याल्यानंतर धान्य समुद्रात टाकून दिले आणि जहाजातील भार कमी केला.
39 When it was day they tried in vain to recognize the land, but they spied an inlet with a sandy beach, and they began conferring to see whether they could drive the ship into it.
३९दिवस उजाडल्यावर त्यांना भूभागाची ओळख पटली नाही, परंतु तेथे किनारा असलेल्या उपसागरासारखी ती जागा दिसून आली, म्हणून शक्य झाल्यास तेथील किनाऱ्याला जहाज लावण्याचे त्यांनी ठरवले.
40 They cast off the anchors and left them in the sea, and unloosing at the same time the ropes that tied the rudders, they hoisted the foresail to the breeze, and headed for the beach.
४०म्हणून त्यांनी नांगर कापले आणि समुद्रात पडू दिले, त्याचबरोबर सुकाणूंच्या दोऱ्या एकत्र केल्या, नंतर त्यांनी जहाजाच्या पुढच्या भागाचे शीड वारा भरावे म्हणून उभे केले आणि जहाज किनाऱ्याला आणले.
41 But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; the bow struck and remained fixed, but the stern began to break up under the violence of the waves.
४१परंतु दोन समुद्रांमधील वर आलेल्या वाळूच्या ढिगावर जहाज जोराने आदळले, तेव्हा जहाजाची पुढची बाजू वाळूमध्ये रुतून बसली आणि गलबताचा मागचा भाग लाटांच्या तडाख्यामुळे तुटू लागला.
42 Now the soldiers were planning to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim off and so escape.
४२तेव्हा शिपायांनी कैद्यांना मारण्याचे ठरवले, यासाठी की त्यांच्यातील कोणी पोहोत जाऊन पळू नये.
43 But the centurion kept them from their purpose, because he wished to save Paul. He gave orders that those who could swim should first jump overboard and get to land;
४३परंतु शताधिपतीला पौलाला वाचवायचे होते म्हणून त्याने शिपायांना तो विचार सोडून देण्यास सांगितले आणि ज्यांना पोहता येत असेल त्यांनी जहाजातून उड्या टाकून किनाऱ्याला जावे अशी आज्ञा केली.
44 and that the rest should follow, some on planks and some on other bits of wreckage. And so it came to pass that all escaped safe to the land.
४४बाकीच्या लोकांनी फळ्यांच्या अगर जहाजाच्या तुटलेल्या लाकडांच्या आधारे भूमी गाठावी असे सांगितले, अशा रीतीने जहाजातील सर्वजण सुखरुपपणे भूमीवर पोहोचले.
