1 Timothy 5
1 Do not reprimand an aged man, but continue pleading with him as if he were your father. Treat the young men as brothers,
ตฺวํ ปฺราจีนํ น ภรฺตฺสย กินฺตุ ตํ ปิตรมิว ยูนศฺจ ภฺราตฺฤนิว
2 the older women as mothers, the younger women as sisters in all purity.
วฺฤทฺธา: สฺตฺริยศฺจ มาตฺฤนิว ยุวตีศฺจ ปูรฺณศุจิเตฺวน ภคินีริว วินยสฺวฯ
3 Ever honor widows who are really widows;
อปรํ สตฺยวิธวา: สมฺมนฺยสฺวฯ
4 but if any widow has children or grandchildren, let these learn to show their piety first toward their own household, and to make some return to their parents, for that is pleasing in God’s sight.
กสฺยาศฺจิทฺ วิธวายา ยทิ ปุตฺรา: เปาตฺรา วา วิทฺยนฺเต ตรฺหิ เต ปฺรถมต: สฺวียปริชนานฺ เสวิตุํ ปิโตฺร: ปฺรตฺยุปกรฺตฺตุญฺจ ศิกฺษนฺตำ ยตสฺตเทเวศฺวรสฺย สากฺษาทฺ อุตฺตมํ คฺราหฺยญฺจ กรฺมฺมฯ
5 Now she who is a widow indeed, and desolate, has fixed her hope on God, and devotes herself to supplications and prayers, day and night.
อปรํ ยา นารี สตฺยวิธวา นาถหีนา จาสฺติ สา อีศฺวรสฺยาศฺรเย ติษฺฐนฺตี ทิวานิศํ นิเวทนปฺรารฺถนาภฺยำ กาลํ ยาปยติฯ
6 But she who lives in wantonness is dead even while she still lives.
กินฺตุ ยา วิธวา สุขโภคาสกฺตา สา ชีวตฺยปิ มฺฤตา ภวติฯ
7 Keep admonishing them regarding these things, so that they may be irreproachable.
อเตอว ตา ยทฺ อนินฺทิตา ภเวยูสฺตทรฺถมฺ เอตานิ ตฺวยา นิทิศฺยนฺตำฯ
8 But if any one fails to provide for his own, and especially for his kindred, he has denied the faith and is worse than an infidel.
ยทิ กศฺจิตฺ สฺวชาตียานฺ โลกานฺ วิเศษต: สฺวียปริชนานฺ น ปาลยติ ตรฺหิ ส วิศฺวาสาทฺ ภฺรษฺโฏ 'ปฺยธมศฺจ ภวติฯ
9 A widow, to be placed upon the list, must be not less than sixty years old, and one who has been the wife of but one husband.
วิธวาวรฺเค ยสฺยา คณนา ภวติ ตยา ษษฺฏิวตฺสเรโภฺย นฺยูนวยสฺกยา น ภวิตวฺยํ; อปรํ ปูรฺวฺวมฺ เอกสฺวามิกา ภูตฺวา
10 She must be well reputed for good works, as one who has brought up a family, received strangers with hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, relieved the distressed, and diligently followed every good work.
สา ยตฺ ศิศุโปษเณนาติถิเสวเนน ปวิตฺรโลกานำ จรณปฺรกฺษาลเนน กฺลิษฺฏานามฺ อุปกาเรณ สรฺวฺววิธสตฺกรฺมฺมาจรเณน จ สตฺกรฺมฺมกรณาตฺ สุขฺยาติปฺราปฺตา ภเวตฺ ตทปฺยาวศฺยกํฯ
11 But exclude from the list the younger widows; for where they have become wanton against Christ, they desire to marry,
กินฺตุ ยุวตี รฺวิธวา น คฺฤหาณ ยต: ขฺรีษฺฏสฺย ไวปรีเตฺยน ตาสำ ทรฺเป ชาเต ตา วิวาหมฺ อิจฺฉนฺติฯ
12 and incur condemnation because they have broken their first troth.
ตสฺมาจฺจ ปูรฺวฺวธรฺมฺมํ ปริตฺยชฺย ทณฺฑนียา ภวนฺติฯ
13 Moreover, they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and are not only idlers, but gossips also, and busybodies, repeating things they ought not.
อนนฺตรํ ตา คฺฤหาทฺ คฺฤหํ ปรฺยฺยฏนฺตฺย อาลสฺยํ ศิกฺษนฺเต เกวลมาลสฺยํ นหิ กินฺตฺวนรฺถกาลาปํ ปราธิการจรฺจฺจาญฺจาปิ ศิกฺษมาณา อนุจิตานิ วากฺยานิ ภาษนฺเตฯ
14 It is my wish, then, that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule their houses, and give no occasion to our adversary for railing.
อโต มเมจฺเฉยํ ยุวโตฺย วิธวา วิวาหํ กุรฺวฺวตามฺ อปตฺยวโตฺย ภวนฺตุ คฺฤหกรฺมฺม กุรฺวฺวตาญฺเจตฺถํ วิปกฺษาย กิมปิ นินฺทาทฺวารํ น ททตุฯ
15 For already some widows have gone astray after Satan.
ยต อิต: ปูรฺวฺวมฺ อปิ กาศฺจิตฺ ศยตานสฺย ปศฺจาทฺคามิโนฺย ชาตา: ฯ
16 Any believing woman, who has widowed relatives, ought to relieve them and not let the church be burdened with them; so that the church may relieve the really destitute widows.
อปรํ วิศฺวาสินฺยา วิศฺวาสิโน วา กสฺยาปิ ปริวาราณำ มเธฺย ยทิ วิธวา วิทฺยนฺเต ตรฺหิ ส ตา: ปฺรติปาลยตุ ตสฺมาตฺ สมิเตา ภาเร 'นาโรปิเต สตฺยวิธวานำ ปฺรติปาลนํ กรฺตฺตุํ ตยา ศกฺยเตฯ
17 Let the elders who fill their offices well, be held worthy of twofold honor; especially those who have the task of preaching and teaching.
เย ปฺราญฺจ: สมิตึ สมฺยคฺ อธิติษฺฐนฺติ วิเศษต อีศฺวรวาเกฺยโนปเทเศน จ เย ยตฺนํ วิทธเต เต ทฺวิคุณสฺยาทรสฺย โยคฺยา มานฺยนฺตำฯ
18 For the Scripture says, You must not muzzle an ox when he is treading out the grain, and The worker is worth his wages.
ยสฺมาตฺ ศาสฺเตฺร ลิขิตมิทมาเสฺต, ตฺวํ ศสฺยมรฺทฺทกวฺฤษสฺยาสฺยํ มา พธาเนติ, อปรมปิ การฺยฺยกฺฤทฺ เวตนสฺย โยโคฺย ภวตีติฯ
19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder, except on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
เทฺวา ตฺรีนฺ วา สากฺษิโณ วินา กสฺยาจิตฺ ปฺราจีนสฺย วิรุทฺธมฺ อภิโยคสฺตฺวยา น คฺฤหฺยตำฯ
20 Rebuke offenders publicly, so that others also may take warning.
อปรํ เย ปาปมาจรนฺติ ตานฺ สรฺเวฺวษำ สมกฺษํ ภรฺตฺสยสฺว เตนาปเรษามปิ ภีติ รฺชนิษฺยเตฯ
21 I charge you solemnly in the presence of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ and of the elect angels, that you observe these things without prejudice against any man, and do nothing out of partiality.
อหมฺ อีศฺวรสฺย ปฺรโภ รฺยีศุขฺรีษฺฏสฺย มโนนีตทิวฺยทูตานาญฺจ โคจเร ตฺวามฺ อิทมฺ อาชฺญาปยามิ ตฺวํ กสฺยาปฺยนุโรเธน กิมปิ น กุรฺวฺวน วินาปกฺษปาตมฺ เอตาน วิธีนฺ ปาลยฯ
22 Never ordain any one hastily, nor take part in the wrong-doing of others. Keep yourself pure.
กสฺยาปิ มูรฺทฺธิ หสฺตาปรฺณํ ตฺวรยา มาการฺษี: ฯ ปรปาปานาญฺจำศี มา ภวฯ สฺวํ ศุจึ รกฺษฯ
23 Do not continue to drink nothing but water, but take a little wine for your stomach’s sake, and your frequent attacks of illness.
อปรํ ตโวทรปีฑายา: ปุน: ปุน ทุรฺพฺพลตายาศฺจ นิมิตฺตํ เกวลํ โตยํ น ปิวนฺ กิญฺจินฺ มทฺยํ ปิวฯ
24 Some men’s sins are notorious, and lead them straight on the way to condemnation; but others’ sins follow them up.
เกษาญฺจิตฺ มานวานำ ปาปานิ วิจาราตฺ ปูรฺวฺวํ เกษาญฺจิตฺ ปศฺจาตฺ ปฺรกาศนฺเตฯ
25 So also noble deeds are conspicuous, and even if otherwise, they cannot be kept hidden.
ตไถว สตฺกรฺมฺมาณฺยปิ ปฺรกาศนฺเต ตทนฺยถา สติ ปฺรจฺฉนฺนานิ สฺถาตุํ น ศกฺนุวนฺติฯ
