1 Thessalonians 5
1 Now as to the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
Basi, ndugu, kwa habari ya nyakati na majira hatuna haja ya kuwaandikia,
2 You yourselves know perfectly that the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.
kwa kuwa mnajua vyema kwamba siku ya Bwana itakuja kama mwizi ajapo usiku.
3 While men are saying "Peace and safety," then, like birth-pangs upon a woman with child, destruction will come upon them suddenly. In no wise will they escape.
Wakati watu wanaposema, “Kuna amani na salama,” maangamizi huwajia ghafula, kama vile utungu umjiavyo mwanamke mwenye mimba; nao hakika hawatatoroka.
4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that "the Day" should come upon you like a bandit.
Bali ninyi, ndugu, hampo gizani hata siku ile iwakute ghafula kama mwizi.
5 For you are all sons of light, and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness.
Ninyi nyote ni wana wa nuru na wana wa mchana. Sisi si wana wa giza wala wa usiku.
6 So then let us not be sleeping as do the rest, but let us be watchful and self-controlled.
Kwa hiyo basi, tusilale kama watu wengine walalavyo, bali tukeshe na kuwa na kiasi.
7 For those who are sleeping, sleep in the night, and those who are drunken, are drunken in the night.
Kwa kuwa wote walalao hulala usiku na wale walewao hulewa usiku.
8 But let us who are of the day be self-controlled, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
Lakini kwa kuwa sisi ni wana wa mchana, basi tuwe na kiasi, tukijivika imani na upendo kama dirii kifuani na tumaini letu la wokovu kama chapeo.
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Kwa maana Mungu hakutuita ili tupate ghadhabu bali tupate wokovu kwa njia ya Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
10 He died for us, in order that whether we are keeping vigil in life or sleeping in death we may ever be living together with him.
Yeye alikufa kwa ajili yetu ili hata kama tuko macho au tumelala, tupate kuishi pamoja naye.
11 So comfort one another, and try to build one another up, as indeed you are doing.
Kwa hiyo farijianeni na kujengana, kama vile mnavyofanya sasa.
12 I entreat you, brothers, to acknowledge those who are toiling among you and are your leaders in the Lord, and give you counsel.
Sasa tunawaomba, ndugu, waheshimuni wale wanaofanya kazi kwa bidii miongoni mwenu, wale ambao wana mamlaka juu yenu katika Bwana na ambao wanawaonya.
13 Esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Live in peace among yourselves.
Waheshimuni sana katika upendo kwa ajili ya kazi zao. Ishini kwa amani ninyi kwa ninyi.
14 And, brothers, we urge you to admonish the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, sustain the weak, lose patience with none.
Nasi twawasihi, ndugu, waonyeni walio wavivu, watieni moyo waoga, wasaidieni wanyonge na kuwavumilia watu wote.
15 Take care that none of you ever return evil for evil, but always pursue what is kind to one another and to all.
Angalieni kuwa mtu asimlipe mwenzake maovu kwa maovu, bali siku zote tafuteni kutendeana mema ninyi kwa ninyi na kwa watu wote.
16 Always be joyful.
Furahini siku zote;
17 Pray without ceasing.
ombeni bila kukoma;
18 Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
shukuruni kwa kila jambo, kwa maana haya ndiyo mapenzi ya Mungu kwa ajili yenu katika Kristo Yesu.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
Msiuzime moto wa Roho Mtakatifu;
20 Do not despise prophesyings.
msiyadharau maneno ya unabii.
21 But try all, holding fast to the good.
Jaribuni kila kitu. Yashikeni yaliyo mema.
22 Hold aloof from every form of evil.
Jiepusheni na uovu wa kila namna.
23 May the God of peace consecrate you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept altogether faultless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mungu mwenyewe, Mungu wa amani, awatakase ninyi kabisa. Nanyi mhifadhiwe roho zenu, nafsi zenu na miili yenu, bila kuwa na lawama katika Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
24 He who calls you is faithful; he will fulfil my prayer.
Yeye aliyewaita ni mwaminifu naye atafanya hayo.
25 Brothers, pray for me.
Ndugu, tuombeeni.
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
Wasalimuni ndugu wote kwa busu takatifu.
27 I adjure you, in the name of the Lord, to have this letter read to all the brothers.
Nawaagizeni mbele za Bwana mhakikishe kuwa ndugu wote wanasomewa barua hii.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Neema ya Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo iwe nanyi. Amen.
