< 1 Thessalonians 1 >
1 Paul and Silas and Timothy. To the church of the Thessalonians which is in God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be to you, and peace.
Paulu, Sila àti Timotiu, A kọ ọ́ sí ìjọ tí ó wà ní ìlú Tẹsalonika, àwọn ẹni tí ó jẹ́ ti Ọlọ́run Baba àti ti Olúwa Jesu Kristi: Kí ìbùkún àti àlàáfíà láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run Baba àti Jesu Kristi kí ó jẹ́ tiyín.
2 I am continually thanking God for all, always making mention of you in my prayers,
Gbogbo ìgbà ni a máa ń fi ọpẹ́ fún Ọlọ́run nítorí yín, a sì ń gbàdúrà fún un yín nígbà gbogbo pẹ̀lú.
3 as I call to mind your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the presence of our God and Father.
A ń rántí yin ni àìsimi nígbà gbogbo níwájú Ọlọ́run àti Baba nípa iṣẹ́ ìgbàgbọ́ yín, iṣẹ́ ìfẹ́ yín àti ìdúró ṣinṣin ìrètí yín nínú Jesu Kristi Olúwa wa.
4 For I know, O brothers, beloved of God, that he has chosen you;
Àwa mọ̀ dájúdájú, ẹ̀yin olùfẹ́ wa, wí pé Ọlọ́run ti yàn yín fẹ́ fún ara rẹ̀.
5 for my gospel did not come to you in word only, but in power also, and in the Holy Spirit, and with deep conviction. For you know also the manner in which I behaved myself among you for your sakes.
Nítorí pé, nígbà tí a mú ìyìnrere tọ̀ yín wà, kò rí bí ọ̀rọ̀ lásán tí kò ní ìtumọ̀ sí i yín, bí kò ṣe pẹ̀lú agbára, pẹ̀lú Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́, pẹ̀lú ìdánilójú tó jinlẹ̀. Bí ẹ̀yin ti mọ irú ènìyàn tí àwa jẹ́ láàrín yín nítorí yín.
6 Moreover, you began to follow the pattern I set you, and the Lord’s also, receiving the word with joy in the Holy Spirit, although amid severe persecution.
Tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ẹ̀yin pàápàá di aláwòkọ́ṣe wa àti ti Olúwa, ìdí ni pé, ẹ gba ẹ̀rí náà láti ọwọ́ Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ pẹ̀lú ayọ̀ bí o tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé, ó mú wàhálà àti ìbànújẹ́ wá fún yín.
7 Thus you became a pattern to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.
Tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ẹ̀yin pàápàá fi di àpẹẹrẹ fún gbogbo àwọn onígbàgbọ́ tó wà ní agbègbè Makedonia àti Akaia.
8 For the word of the Lord has been sounded forth from you, and its sound has been heard not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place where the tidings of your faith toward God have been spread abroad, so that I have no need to speak of it.
Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ti gbilẹ̀ níbi gbogbo láti ọ̀dọ̀ yín láti agbègbè Makedonia àti Akaia lọ, ìgbàgbọ́ yín nínú Ọlọ́run tàn káàkiri. Nítorí náà, a kò ni láti ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ń sọ fún wọn nípa rẹ̀.
9 For others, of their own accord, tell about the welcome I had from you, and how you turned to God from your idols, to be slaved of a true and living God,
Ṣe ni wọ́n bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí i ròyìn fún wa bí ẹ ti gbà wá lálejò. Wọ́n ròyìn fún wa pẹ̀lú pé, ẹ ti yípadà kúrò nínú ìbọ̀rìṣà àti wí pé Ọlọ́run alààyè àti òtítọ́ nìkan ṣoṣo ni ẹ ń sìn,
10 and to await for the coming of his Son from the heavens, the Son whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, our Deliverer from the wrath to come.
àti láti fi ojú ṣọ́nà fún ìpadàbọ̀ Ọmọ rẹ̀ láti ọ̀run wá, ẹni tí ó jí dìde kúrò nínú òkú, Jesu, ẹni tí ó gbà wá lọ́wọ́ ìbínú tí ń bọ̀.
