1 Peter 5
1 Now to you who are presbyters I make this appeal; for I am myself a presbyter, and was a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory about to be revealed.
πρεσβυτερους τους εν υμιν παρακαλω ο συμπρεσβυτερος και μαρτυς των του χριστου παθηματων ο και της μελλουσης αποκαλυπτεσθαι δοξης κοινωνος
2 Be shepherds to your flock of God; take charge of them willingly, and not through compulsion; not for filthy lucre, but with a willing mind;
ποιμανατε το εν υμιν ποιμνιον του θεου επισκοπουντες μη αναγκαστως αλλ εκουσιως μηδε αισχροκερδως αλλα προθυμως
3 not by way of lording it over your heritage, but by becoming examples to the flock.
μηδ ως κατακυριευοντες των κληρων αλλα τυποι γινομενοι του ποιμνιου
4 Then, when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, you too will receive the fadeless wreath of glory.
και φανερωθεντος του αρχιποιμενος κομιεισθε τον αμαραντινον της δοξης στεφανον
5 You younger men must submit to the presbyters; and all of you must put on the garment of humility and serve one another, for God resists the haughty, But gives grace to the humble.
ομοιως νεωτεροι υποταγητε πρεσβυτεροις παντες δε αλληλοις υποτασσομενοι την ταπεινοφροσυνην εγκομβωσασθε οτι ο θεος υπερηφανοις αντιτασσεται ταπεινοις δε διδωσιν χαριν
6 So humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand, so that he may exalt you in due time.
ταπεινωθητε ουν υπο την κραταιαν χειρα του θεου ινα υμας υψωση εν καιρω
7 Cast all your care upon him, for he ever cares for you.
πασαν την μεριμναν υμων επιρριψαντες επ αυτον οτι αυτω μελει περι υμων
8 Be temperate, be vigilant; because your enemy, the devil, is prowling about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
νηψατε γρηγορησατε οτι ο αντιδικος υμων διαβολος ως λεων ωρυομενος περιπατει ζητων τινα καταπιη
9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, knowing well that the same afflictions are being accomplished in your brothers that are in the world.
ω αντιστητε στερεοι τη πιστει ειδοτες τα αυτα των παθηματων τη εν κοσμω υμων αδελφοτητι επιτελεισθαι
10 But the God of all grace, who has called us by Christ Jesus to share his eternal glory, will, after you have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. (aiōnios g166)
ο δε θεος πασης χαριτος ο καλεσας ημας εις την αιωνιον αυτου δοξαν εν χριστω ιησου ολιγον παθοντας αυτος καταρτισαι υμας στηριξαι σθενωσαι θεμελιωσαι (aiōnios g166)
αυτω η δοξα και το κρατος εις τους αιωνας των αιωνων αμην (aiōn g165)
12 By Sylvanus, a faithful brother of yours, as I suppose, I have written you briefly, to comfort you, and to testify that this is the true grace of God. In this stand fast.
δια σιλουανου υμιν του πιστου αδελφου ως λογιζομαι δι ολιγων εγραψα παρακαλων και επιμαρτυρων ταυτην ειναι αληθη χαριν του θεου εις ην εστηκατε
13 Your sister church in Babylon, elect with you, sends you salutations, and so does Marcus, my son.
ασπαζεται υμας η εν βαβυλωνι συνεκλεκτη και μαρκος ο υιος μου
14 Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be to you all who are in Christ Jesus.
ασπασασθε αλληλους εν φιληματι αγαπης ειρηνη υμιν πασιν τοις εν χριστω ιησου αμην
