1 John 2
1 My children, I am writing this to you that you may not continue to sin; but if any one sin, we ever have a Comforter before the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.
わたしの子たちよ。これらのことを書きおくるのは、あなたがたが罪を犯さないようになるためである。もし、罪を犯す者があれば、父のみもとには、わたしたちのために助け主、すなわち、義なるイエス・キリストがおられる。
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
彼は、わたしたちの罪のための、あがないの供え物である。ただ、わたしたちの罪のためばかりではなく、全世界の罪のためである。
3 This is how we may know that we have come to know Him, by always keeping his commandments.
もし、わたしたちが彼の戒めを守るならば、それによって彼を知っていることを悟るのである。
4 He who says, "I know Him," but does no continue obeying his commandments, is a liar,
「彼を知っている」と言いながら、その戒めを守らない者は、偽り者であって、真理はその人のうちにない。
5 and the truth is not in him; bit if any man obey his word, in him truly is the love of God made perfect. By this we come to know that we are in him.
しかし、彼の御言を守る者があれば、その人のうちに、神の愛が真に全うされるのである。それによって、わたしたちが彼にあることを知るのである。
6 By who says he "remains in him" ought to spend his life as he spent his.
「彼におる」と言う者は、彼が歩かれたように、その人自身も歩くべきである。
7 Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, nay, and old commandment, which you have had from the beginning. That old commandment is the message to which you have listened.
愛する者たちよ。わたしがあなたがたに書きおくるのは、新しい戒めではなく、あなたがたが初めから受けていた古い戒めである。その古い戒めとは、あなたがたがすでに聞いた御言である。
8 Yet again it is a new commandment which I am writing to you, which is true in him and is you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
しかも、新しい戒めを、あなたがたに書きおくるのである。そして、それは、彼にとってもあなたがたにとっても、真理なのである。なぜなら、やみは過ぎ去り、まことの光がすでに輝いているからである。
9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness even until now.
「光の中にいる」と言いながら、その兄弟を憎む者は、今なお、やみの中にいるのである。
10 But he who loves his brother is abiding in the light, and in it there is no cause of stumbling.
兄弟を愛する者は、光におるのであって、つまずくことはない。
11 But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and is spending his life in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
兄弟を憎む者は、やみの中におり、やみの中を歩くのであって、自分ではどこへ行くのかわからない。やみが彼の目を見えなくしたからである。
12 I am writing to you, little children, because you sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
子たちよ。あなたがたにこれを書きおくるのは、御名のゆえに、あなたがたの多くの罪がゆるされたからである。
13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you have come to know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have fully overcome the Evil One. I have written to you, little children, because you have learned to know the father.
父たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくるのは、あなたがたが、初めからいますかたを知ったからである。若者たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくるのは、あなたがたが、悪しき者にうち勝ったからである。
14 I have written to you, fathers, because you have learned to know him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God is abiding in you, and you have fully overcome the Evil One.
子供たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくったのは、あなたがたが父を知ったからである。父たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくったのは、あなたがたが、初めからいますかたを知ったからである。若者たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくったのは、あなたがたが強い者であり、神の言があなたがたに宿り、そして、あなたがたが悪しき者にうち勝ったからである。
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
世と世にあるものとを、愛してはいけない。もし、世を愛する者があれば、父の愛は彼のうちにない。
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the proud glory of life, is not from the Father, but from the world;
すべて世にあるもの、すなわち、肉の欲、目の欲、持ち物の誇は、父から出たものではなく、世から出たものである。
17 and the world and its lusts are passing away, but he who ever does the will of God abides forever. (aiōn g165)
世と世の欲とは過ぎ去る。しかし、神の御旨を行う者は、永遠にながらえる。 (aiōn g165)
18 My children, this is the last hour, and as you have heard that an antichrist was coming, and now many antichrists are already risen, whence we may know that it is the last hour.
子供たちよ。今は終りの時である。あなたがたがかねて反キリストが来ると聞いていたように、今や多くの反キリストが現れてきた。それによって今が終りの時であることを知る。
19 They came forth from us, but they did not belong to us. If they had belonged to us they would certainly have remained with us, but they went out that they might be manifest that they all are not of us.
彼らはわたしたちから出て行った。しかし、彼らはわたしたちに属する者ではなかったのである。もし属する者であったなら、わたしたちと一緒にとどまっていたであろう。しかし、出て行ったのは、元来、彼らがみなわたしたちに属さない者であることが、明らかにされるためである。
20 Now you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
しかし、あなたがたは聖なる者に油を注がれているので、あなたがたすべてが、そのことを知っている。
21 I am not writing to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and know that no lie is of the truth.
わたしが書きおくったのは、あなたがたが真理を知らないからではなく、それを知っているからであり、また、すべての偽りは真理から出るものでないことを、知っているからである。
22 Who is the liar if not the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, even he who disowns the Father and the Son.
偽り者とは、だれであるか。イエスのキリストであることを否定する者ではないか。父と御子とを否定する者は、反キリストである。
23 Whoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father; but he who confesses the Son has the Father also. As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning abide in you.
御子を否定する者は父を持たず、御子を告白する者は、また父をも持つのである。
24 If what you have heard from the beginning is abiding in you, you also will ever abide in the Son and in the Father.
初めから聞いたことが、あなたがたのうちに、とどまるようにしなさい。初めから聞いたことが、あなたがたのうちにとどまっておれば、あなたがたも御子と父とのうちに、とどまることになる。
これが、彼自らわたしたちに約束された約束であって、すなわち、永遠のいのちである。 (aiōnios g166)
26 I have written this to you concerning those who would lead you astray.
わたしは、あなたがたを惑わす者たちについて、これらのことを書きおくった。
27 As to you, the unction you received from him remains ever in you, and you need no teaching from any one. But since his unction teaches you concerning all things and is true, and is no lie, abide continually in him, as it has taught you to do.
あなたがたのうちには、キリストからいただいた油がとどまっているので、だれにも教えてもらう必要はない。この油が、すべてのことをあなたがたに教える。それはまことであって、偽りではないから、その油が教えたように、あなたがたは彼のうちにとどまっていなさい。
28 And now continue to abide in him, my children, so that when he shall appear we may have cheerful confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
そこで、子たちよ。キリストのうちにとどまっていなさい。それは、彼が現れる時に、確信を持ち、その来臨に際して、みまえに恥じいることがないためである。
29 If you know that he is righteous you know also that every one who habitually practises righteousness has been born of him.
彼の義なるかたであることがわかれば、義を行う者はみな彼から生れたものであることを、知るであろう。
