< 1 Corinthians 1 >
1 Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Jesus Christ, and Sosthenes, his brother.
Paulu, ẹni ti a pé láti jẹ́ aposteli Kristi Jesu nípa ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run àti Sostene arákùnrin wa,
2 to the Church of God at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, together with all, wherever they are, who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus.
Sí ìjọ ènìyàn Ọlọ́run ni Kọrinti, sí àwọn ti a sọ di mímọ́ nínú Kristi Jesu àti àwọn ti a pè láti jẹ́ mímọ́ pẹ̀lú gbogbo ènìyàn ni ibikíbi ti ń pe orúkọ Olúwa wa Jesu Kristi ẹni ti ń ṣe Olúwa tiwọn àti ti àwa náà:
3 Grace to you, and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Oore-ọ̀fẹ́ àti àlàáfíà fún yín láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run Baba wa àti Olúwa wa tí í ṣe Jesu Kristi.
4 I am always thanking God on your behalf, for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus;
Nígbà gbogbo ni mo ń dúpẹ́ lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run fún oore-ọ̀fẹ́ rẹ̀ tó fi fún un yín nínú Kristi Jesu.
5 that in everything you have been enriched in him, in all speech, and in all knowledge
Nítorí nínú rẹ̀ ni a ti sọ yín di ọlọ́rọ̀ nínú ọ̀rọ̀ sísọ yín gbogbo àti nínú ìmọ̀ yín gbogbo.
6 (for thus my witness for Christ was confirmed among you);
Nítorí ẹ̀rí wa nínú Kristi ni a ti fi ìdí rẹ̀ múlẹ̀ nínú yín.
7 so that you lack no divine gift, while you are waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Nítorí náà ẹ̀yin kò ṣe aláìní nínú èyíkéyìí ẹ̀bùn ẹ̀mí, bí ẹ̀yin ṣe ń retí ìfarahàn Olúwa wa Jesu Kristi.
8 He will also keep you perfectly stedfast unto the end, so that you will be unreprovable in the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Òun yóò sì mú yín dúró títí dé òpin, kí ẹ̀yin kí ó lè jẹ́ aláìlábùkù ní ọjọ́ Olúwa wa Jesu Kristi.
9 Faithful is the God by whom you were called into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ọlọ́run, nípasẹ̀ ẹni ti a pè yín sínú ìdàpọ̀ pẹ̀lú Ọmọ rẹ̀ Jesu Kristi Olúwa wa, jẹ́ Olóòtítọ́.
10 Now I beg you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to speak in accord, all of you, and to have no divisions among you, but to be knit together in a common mind and temper.
Mo bẹ̀ yín ẹ̀yin ara, ní orúkọ Olúwa wa Jesu Kristi, pé kí gbogbo yín fohùn ṣọ̀kan kí ó máa ṣe sí ìyapa láàrín yín, àti pé kí a lè ṣe yín pé ní inú àti ìmọ̀ kan náà.
11 For it has been plainly told me concerning you, my brothers, by Chloe’s people, that there are dissensions among you.
Ẹ̀yin ará mi, àwọn kan láti ilé Kloe sọ di mí mọ̀ fún mi pé ìjà ń bẹ́ láàrín yín.
12 I mean by this that one of you says, "I am a follower of Paul"; another, "I of Apollos"; another, "I of Cephas"; another, "I of Christ."
Ohun tí mo ń sọ ní pé, olúkúlùkù yín ń wí pé, “Èmí tẹ̀lé Paulu”; “Èmi tẹ̀lé Apollo”; òmíràn wí pé, “Èmi tẹ̀lé Kefa, Peteru”; àti ẹlòmíràn wí pé, “Èmi tẹ̀lé Kristi.”
13 Has Christ been divided? Paul, was he crucified for you? or was it into the name of Paul that you were baptized?
Ǹjẹ́ a ha pín Kristi bí? Ṣé a kan Paulu mọ́ àgbélébùú fún un yín bí? Ǹjẹ́ a tẹ̀ yín bọ omi ní orúkọ Paulu bí?
14 I am thankful to God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
Inú mi dún púpọ̀ pé èmi kò tẹ ẹnikẹ́ni nínú yín bọ omi yàtọ̀ sí Krisipu àti Gaiusi.
15 so that no one can say you were baptized in my name.
Nítorí náà kò sí ẹni tí ó lè sọ pé òun ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi ní orúkọ èmi fúnra ara mi.
16 Yes, I did baptize the house of Stephanas also, but I do not think I baptized any one else.
(Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, mo tún tẹ ìdílé Stefana bọ omi; lẹ́yìn èyí, èmí kò rántí pé mo tẹ ẹnikẹ́ni bọ omi mọ́ níbikíbi).
17 For Christ did not think I baptized any one else. For Christ did not send me forth to baptize, but to proclaim the gospel; and that not in philosophic words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made an empty thing.
Nítorí Kristi kò rán mi láti máa ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi, ṣùgbọ́n ó rán mi láti máa wàásù ìyìnrere: kì í ṣe nípa ọgbọ́n ènìyàn, kí a máa ṣe sọ àgbélébùú Kristi dí aláìlágbára.
18 For the message of the Cross is indeed for those on their way to destruction, foolishness; but for us who are on our way to salvation it is the power of God.
Nítorí pé òmùgọ̀ ni ọ̀rọ̀ àgbélébùú jẹ́ sí àwọn tí ń ṣègbé, ṣùgbọ́n fún àwa tí a ń gbàlà ó jẹ́ agbára Ọlọ́run.
19 For thus it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the philosophers, And the prudence of the prudent will I confound.
Nítorí a tí kọ ọ́ pé: “Èmi yóò pa ọgbọ́n àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n run, òye àwọn olóye ni Èmi yóò sọ di asán.”
20 Sage, rabbi, skeptic of this present age - where are they all? Has not God made foolish the philosophy of the world? (aiōn )
Àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n náà ha dá? Àwọn akọ̀wé náà ha dà? Àwọn onímọ̀ ìjìnlẹ̀ ayé yìí ha dà? Ọlọ́run kò ha ti sọ ọgbọ́n ayé yìí di aṣiwèrè? (aiōn )
21 For when, in the wisdom of God, the world by its philosophy knew not God, the world by its philosophy knew not God, it pleased God, by the foolishness of preaching, to save those who believe.
Nítorí pé, nínú ọgbọ́n Ọlọ́run, ayé kò le mọ̀ òun nípa ọgbọ́n àti ìṣeféfé wọn. Ó sì gba gbogbo àwọn tí ó gbàgbọ́ là nípa ìwàásù tí àwọn aráyé pè ní òmùgọ̀ àti ọ̀rọ̀ ọ yẹ̀yẹ́.
22 Jews continue to ask for miracles and Greeks are ever wanting philosophy,
Nítorí pé àwọn Júù ń béèrè àmì, àwọn Helleni sí ń ṣàfẹ́rí ọgbọ́n,
23 but we come preaching a crucified Messiah - to Jews a stumbling- block, to Greeks foolishness,
ṣùgbọ́n àwa ń wàásù Kristi ti a kàn mọ́ àgbélébùú, òkúta ìkọ̀sẹ̀ àwọn Júù àti òmùgọ̀ fún àwọn kèfèrí.
24 but to those who are the called, whether Jews or Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Ṣùgbọ́n sí àwọn tí Ọlọ́run tí pè, àti àwọn Júù àti àwọn Giriki, Kristi ni agbára Ọlọ́run, àti ọgbọ́n Ọlọ́run.
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Nítorí pé òmùgọ̀ Ọlọ́run jù ọgbọ́n ènìyàn lọ; àti aláìlera Ọlọ́run ni agbára jù ìlera ènìyàn lọ.
26 For consider your own calling, brothers, that not many wise in earthly wisdom, not many powerful, not many of noble birth, have been called.
Ará, ẹ kíyèsi ohun tí ẹ jẹ́ nígbà tí a pè yín. Kì í ṣe ọ̀pọ̀ yín jẹ ọlọ́gbọ́n nípa àgbékalẹ̀ ti ènìyàn, tàbí ọ̀pọ̀ nínú yín jẹ́ ènìyàn pàtàkì, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kì í ṣe ọ̀pọ̀ nínú yín jẹ́ ọlọ́lá nípa ibi tí a gbé bí i.
27 No, God has chosen the world’s folly to confound its philosophy; and the world’s weakness to confound its strength.
Ṣùgbọ́n Ọlọ́run tí yàn àwọn òmùgọ̀ ayé láti fi dààmú àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n; Ọlọ́run sì ti yàn àwọn ohun aláìlera ayé láti fi dààmú àwọn ohun tí ó ni agbára.
28 The world’s base things has God chosen, and the things that are not, to bring to naught the things that are;
Àti àwọn ohun tí ayé tí kò ní ìyìn, àti àwọn ohun tí a kẹ́gàn, ni Ọlọ́run sì ti yàn, àní àwọn ohun tí kò sí, láti sọ àwọn ohun tí ó wà di asán.
29 so that no mortal man should glory in his presence.
Nítorí kí ó má ba à sí ẹnìkan tí yóò ṣògo níwájú rẹ̀.
30 It is of him that you are in Christ Jesus, whom God made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
Nítorí rẹ̀ ni ẹ̀yin ṣe wà nínú Kristi Jesu ẹni ti ó jásí ọgbọ́n fún wa láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run—èyí ń ni, òdodo, ìwà mímọ́ àti ìràpadà wa.
31 so that as Scripture says, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.
Nítorí náà, bí a ti kọ ọ́ pé, “Ẹni ti ó bá ń ṣògo kí ó máa ṣògo nínú Olúwa.”
