Romans 4
1 What do we then say that Abraham our father obtained by the flesh?
तब हामी के भनौँ त? हाम्रा पुर्खा अब्राहामले शरीरअनुसार के पाए त?
2 for if Abraham were justified by works, he might boast; but not before God.
यदि अब्राहाम कामद्वारा धर्मी ठहरिएका भए, उनले घमण्ड गर्ने कारण हुन्थ्यो, तर परमेश्वरको सामु त होइन ।
3 For what says the scripture? "And Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness."
किनकि धर्मशास्त्रले के भन्छ? “अब्राहामले परमेश्वरमा विश्वास गरे, र यो उनको निम्ति धार्मिकता गनियो ।”
4 Now, to him who works, the reward is not counted as a favor, but as a debt.
अब जसले काम गर्छ, त्यसको ज्यालालाई अनुग्रहको रूपमा गनिँदैन, तर पाउनुपर्ने कुराको रूपमा गनिन्छ ।
5 But to him who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
तर त्यसको निम्ति जसले काम गर्दैन, तर त्यसको सट्टा अधर्मीलाई धर्मी ठहराउनुहुनेमा विश्वास गर्छ, त्यसको विश्वासलाई धार्मिकताको रूपमा गनिन्छ ।
6 In like manner, also, David describes the blessedness of the man to whom God counts righteousness without works: saying,
दाऊदले पनि कामविना नै परमेश्वरले धार्मिकता गान्नुभएको मानिसलाई आशिष् घोषणा गर्छन् ।
7 "Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
उनले भने, “ती धन्य हुन्, जसका अधर्महरू क्षमा भएका छन् र जसका पापहरू ढाकिएका छन् ।”
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not count sin."
त्यो मानिस धन्यको हो, जसको विरुद्धमा परमेश्वरले पापको लेखा राख्नुहुन्न ।”
9 Does this blessedness come, then, on the circumcision only, or on the uncircumcision, also? for we affirm that faith was counted to Abraham for righteousness.
तब के यो आशिष् केवल ती खतना भएकाहरूका लागि मात्रै भनिएको हो वा ती खतना नगरिएकाहरूका लागि पनि भनिएको हो? किनकि हामी भन्छौँ, “अब्राहामको निम्ति विश्वास धार्मिकताको रूपमा गनियो ।”
10 How, then, was it counted? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
त्यसो हो भने, यो कसरी गनियो त? अब्राहाम खतनामा हुँदा वा बेखतना हुँदा? यो खतनामा हुँदा भएको थिएन, तर बेखतनामा हुँदा भएको थियो ।
11 And he received the mark of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness of the faith, which he had whilst uncircumcised; that he might be the father of all uncircumcised believers, that righteousness might be counted even to them.
अब्राहामले खतनाको चिन्ह पाए । यो विश्वासको धार्मिकताको छाप थियो, जुन उनी बेखतनाको हुँदा नै पाइसकेका थिए । यो चिन्हको परिणामचाहिँ तिनीहरू बेखतनामै भए तापनि उनी विश्वास गर्ने सबैका पिता भए । यसको मतलब यो हो, कि त्यो धार्मिकता तिनीहरूको निम्ति धार्मिकता गनिनेछ ।
12 And a father to the circumcised, who are not only circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith of our father Abraham, which he had whilst in uncircumcision.
यसको अर्थ यो हो, कि अब्राहाम खतनाबाट आएकाहरूका निम्ति मात्र होइन, तर हाम्रा पिता अब्राहामको कदम पछ्याउनेहरूका निम्ति पनि पिता भए । र उनी बेखतनामा हुँदा नै उनीसँग विश्वास थियो ।
13 For the promise to Abraham, that he should be the heir of a world, was not to him, nor to his seed, through law; but through a righteousness of faith.
किनकि अब्राहाम र उनका सन्तानहरूलाई दिइएको प्रतिज्ञा अर्थात् तिनीहरू संसारको उत्तराधिकार हुने प्रतिज्ञा व्यवस्थाद्वारा दिइएको थिएन । बरु, यो विश्वासको धार्मिकताद्वारा थियो ।
14 For if they who are of law are heirs; faith is rendered vain, and the promise is made of no effect.
किनकि यदि ती व्यवस्थाकाहरू उत्तराधिकारीहरू हुन् भने विश्वासीलाई त रित्तो बनाइयो र प्रतिज्ञालाई रद्द गरियो ।
15 Farther, the law works out wrath; but where law is not, there is no transgression.
किनकि व्यवस्थाले क्रोध ल्याउँछ, तर जहाँ व्यवस्था छैन त्यहाँ अनाज्ञाकारिता हुँदैन ।
16 For this reason, it is through faith that it might be by favor, that the promise might be sure to all the seed: not to that only which is of the law; but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all:
यसैले, यो विश्वासद्वारा हुन्छ, ताकि त्यो अनुग्रहद्वारा हुन सकोस् । परिणामस्वरूप, प्रतिज्ञा सारा सन्तानहरूका निम्ति निश्चित छ । अनि यी सन्तानहरूले केवल व्यवस्था जान्नेहरूलाई मात्र होइन, तर ती अब्राहामको विश्वासबाट आएकाहरूलाई पनि समेट्छन् । किनकि उनी हामी सबैका पिता हुन् ।
17 (as it is written, "Surely a father of many nations have I constituted you,") in the presence of him whom he believed, even of God, who makes alive the dead, and calls things which exist not, as though they existed.
जस्तो लेखिएको छ, “मैले तिमीलाई धेरै जातिहरूका पिता बनाएको छु ।” अब्राहाम आफूले भरोसा गरेका परमेश्वरको उपस्थितिमा थिए, जसले मरेकालाई जीवन दिनुहुन्छ र अस्तित्वमा नभएका थोकहरूलाई अस्तित्वमा ल्याउन सक्नुहुन्छ ।
18 He, contrary to hope, believed with hope, that he should be a father of many nations, according to what was spoken, "So shall your seed be."
यी सारा बाहिरी परिस्थितिहरूका बाबजुद पनि भविष्यको निम्ति अब्राहामले परमेश्वरमा दृढतासाथ भरोसा गरे । त्यसैले, उनी “तेरा सन्तानहरू यस्तै हुनेछन्” भनिएअनुसार धेरै जातिहरूका पिता बने ।
19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body now dead, being about a hundred years old; neither the deadness of Sarah's womb.
उनी विश्वासमा कमजोर थिएनन् । अब्राहामले बुझे, कि उनको शरीर बालक जन्माउन समर्थ थिएन (किनकि उनी करिब एक सय वर्ष पुगेका थिए) । साराको कोख पनि बालक पैदा गर्न समर्थ थिएन भन्ने पनि उनले स्वीकार गरे ।
20 Therefore, against the promise of God, through unbelief, he did not dispute; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.
तर परमेश्वरको प्रतिज्ञाका कारण, अब्राहाम अविश्वासमा रोकिएनन् । बरु, उनलाई विश्वासमा बलियो बनाइयो र उनले परमेश्वरको प्रशंसा गरे ।
21 And was fully persuaded that what was promised, he was able to perform.
परमेश्वरले जे कुरा प्रतिज्ञा गर्नुभएको थियो, त्यो उहाँ पुरा गर्न सक्षम पनि हुनुहुन्थ्यो भनी उनी पूर्ण रूपमा विश्वस्त थिए ।
22 Therefore, also, it was counted to him for righteousness.
त्यसकारण, यो उनको निम्ति धार्मिकता गनियो ।
23 Now it was not written for his sake only, that it was so counted,
अब यो केवल उनको भलाइको निम्ति गनिएको थिएन ।
24 even to those who believe on him who raised up Jesus, our Lord, from the dead;
यो हाम्रो निम्ति पनि लेखिएको थियो, जसको निम्ति यो गनिनेछ, हामी जसले हाम्रा येशू प्रभुलाई मृत्युबाट जीवित पार्नुहुनेमा विश्वास गर्छौं ।
25 who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised up again for our justification.
यो उहाँ नै हुनुहुन्छ जसलाई हाम्रा अपराधका लागि सुम्पिएको थियो, र हामीलाई धर्मी ठहराउन जीवित पारिएको थियो ।
