Mark 9
1 He added, Indeed, I say to you, there are some standing here, who shall not taste death, till they see the Reign of God ushered in with power.

2 After six days, Jesus took Peter, and James, and John, apart to the top of a high mountain, and was transfigured in their presence.

3 His garments became glittering, and were like snow, of such whiteness as no fuller on the earth could imitate.

4 There appeared to them also Elijah and Moses, who were conversing with Jesus.

5 Then Peter said to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to stay here: let us make three booths, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah;

6 for he knew not what he said, they were so terrified.

7 And there came a cloud which covered them; and out of the cloud issued a voice, which said, This is my Son, the beloved: hear him.

8 And instantly, looking about, they saw no person but Jesus and themselves.

9 As they went down from the mountain, he charged them not to relate to any person what they had seen, till the Son of Man was risen from the dead.

10 And they took notice of that expression, and inquired among themselves what the rising from the dead could mean.

11 Then they asked him, saying, Why do the scribes affirm that Elijah must come first?

12 He answered, Elijah, to consummate the whole, must come first; and, (as it is written of the Son of Man, ) must likewise suffer many things and be contemned.

13 But I tell you, that Elijah too is come, as was predicted, and they have treated him as they pleased.

14 When he returned to the other disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and some scribes disputing with them.

15 As soon as the people saw him, they were all struck with awe, and ran to salute him.

16 And he asked the scribes, About what do you dispute with them?
Nake akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ mũrakararanĩria nao?”
17 One of the people answering, said, Rabbi, I have brought you my son, who has a dumb spirit;
Mũndũ ũmwe warĩ kĩrĩndĩ-inĩ kĩu akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani, ngũkũreheire mũrũ wakwa, ũkoragwo arĩ na ngoma thũku na ndaaragia.
18 and wheresoever it seizes him, it dashes him on the ground, where he continues foaming, and grinding his teeth, till his strength is exhausted. And I spoke to your disciples to expel the demon, but they were not able.
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa yothe yamũnyiita, ĩmũtungumanagia thĩ na akarutaga mũhũyũ na kanua, akahagarania magego na akomagara. Njũũririe arutwo aku maingate ngoma ĩyo thũku, no matinahota.”
19 Jesus then said, O unbelieving generation! how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? Bring him to me.
Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Inyuĩ rũciaro rũrũ rũtetĩkagia, nĩ nginya rĩ ngũikarania na inyuĩ? Ngũmũkirĩrĩria nginya rĩ? Ndeherai kamwana kau.”
20 Accordingly they brought him: and no sooner did he see him, than the spirit threw him into convulsions, so that he foamed, and rolled upon the ground.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio magĩgatwarĩra Jesũ. Rĩrĩa ngoma ĩyo thũku yoonire Jesũ, ĩgĩgathiorania o rĩmwe. Gagĩtungumana thĩ, gakĩgaragara, gakĩrutaga mũhũyũ na kanua.
21 Jesus asked the father, How long is it since this first befell him? He answered, From his infancy;

22 and often it has thrown him both into the fire, and into the water, to destroy him; but if you can do anything, have compassion upon us and help us.

23 Jesus replied, If you can believe; all things are practicable for him who believes.

24 The boy's father, crying out immediately, said with tears, I believe; Master, supply the defects of my faith.
O rĩmwe ithe wa kamwana kau akĩanĩrĩra, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩndetĩkia, ndeithia harĩa njagĩte gwĩtĩkia.”
25 When Jesus saw that the people came crowding upon him, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, Dumb and deaf spirit, come out of him, I command you, and enter no more into him.
Rĩrĩa Jesũ oonire atĩ kĩrĩndĩ nĩgĩatengʼerete gĩũke hau, agĩkũũma ngoma ĩyo thũku. Akĩmĩĩra atĩrĩ, “Wee ngoma ĩno thũku ũtaiguaga na ũtaaragia, nĩndagwatha uume thĩinĩ wa kamwana gaka, na ndũkanacooke gũtoonya thĩinĩ wako rĩngĩ.”
26 Then, having cried aloud and severely convulsed him, it came out, and he appeared as one dead, insomuch that many said, He is dead.
Ngoma ĩyo thũku ĩgĩkayũrũrũka, ĩgĩgathiorania na hinya, na ĩkiuma. Kamwana kau gakĩhaana ta karĩ gakuũ, o nginya andũ aingĩ makiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩ gakuũ.”
27 But Jesus taking him by the hand, raised him, and he stood up.
No Jesũ agĩkanyiita guoko, agĩgokĩria, nako gakĩrũgama.
28 When Jesus was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we expel the demon?

29 He answered, This kind can not be dislodged unless by prayer and fasting.

30 Having left that place, they pass through Galilee; and he was desirous that no person should know it,
Nao makiuma kũu magĩtuĩkanĩria bũrũri wa Galili, na Jesũ ndeendaga mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ amenye kũrĩa marĩ,
31 for he was instructing his disciples. And he said to them, The Son of Man will soon be delivered into the hands of men, who will kill him; and after he is killed, he will rise again the third day.

32 But they understood not what he meant, and were afraid to ask him.
No matiigana gũtaũkĩrwo nĩ ũrĩa oigaga, na magĩĩtigĩra kũmũũria ũhoro ũcio.
33 When he was come to Capernaum, being in the house, he asked them, What were you debating amongst yourselves by the way?
Nao magĩkinya Kaperinaumu. Na rĩrĩa aarĩ nyũmba thĩinĩ akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Mũgũkararanagĩria kĩĩ tũrĩ njĩra-inĩ?”
34 But they were silent; for they had debated amongst themselves by the way, who should be greatest.

35 Then having sat down, he called the twelve, and said to them, If any man would be first, he shall be the last of all, and the servant of all.
Na aikara thĩ, Jesũ agĩĩta arutwo arĩa ikũmi na eerĩ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ũrĩa wothe ũngĩenda gũtuĩka wa mbere, no nginya akorwo arĩ wa thuutha wa arĩa angĩ na atuĩke ndungata ya andũ othe.”
36 And he took a child, and placed him in the midst of them, and holding him in his arms, said to them,
Nake akĩrehe kaana agĩkarũgamia gatagatĩ kao. Na aarĩkia gũkaiyũkia moko-inĩ make, akĩmeera atĩrĩ,
37 Whosoever shall receive one such child on my account, receives me; and whosoever shall receive me, receives not me, but him who sent me.
“Ũrĩa wothe ũngĩamũkĩra kaana kamwe ta gaka thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩakwa, nĩ niĩ aamũkagĩra; na ũrĩa ũngĩnyamũkĩra niĩ to niĩ aamũkagĩra, no nĩamũkagĩra ũrĩa wandũmire.”
38 Then John said to him, Rabbi, we saw one expelling demons in your name, who follows not us, and we forbade him, because he does not follow us.
Johana akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani, nĩtũronire mũndũ akĩingata ndaimono thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩaku tũramwĩra atige, tondũ ti ũmwe witũ.”
39 Jesus answered, Forbid him not; for there is none that works a miracle in my name, that can readily speak evil of me.
Nake Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Mũtikamũgirie! Gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩringa kĩama thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩakwa na thuutha ũcio ahote gũcooka kwaria ũũru wakwa,
40 For whosoever is not against you is for you.
Nĩgũkorwo ũrĩa ũtarĩ ũthũ na ithuĩ nĩ ũmwe witũ.
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink on my account, because you are Christ's; indeed, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.
Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, mũndũ o wothe ũrĩa ũkaamũhe gĩkombe kĩa maaĩ thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩakwa nĩ ũndũ mũrĩ a Kristũ, ndarĩ hĩndĩ akoorwo nĩ igai rĩake.”
42 But whoever shall ensnare any of the little ones, who believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were fastened to his neck, and that he were thrown into the sea.
“Na mũndũ ũrĩa wothe ũgaatũma kamwe ga twana tũtũ tũnjĩtĩkĩtie kehie, wega nĩ mũndũ ũcio ohererwo ihiga rĩa gĩthĩi ngingo na aikio thĩinĩ wa iria.
43 Moreover, if your hand ensnare you, cut it off; it is better for you to enter maimed into life, than having two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire; (Geenna g1067)
Guoko gwaku kũngĩtũma wĩhie, gũtinie. Nĩ kaba ũtoonye muoyo-inĩ wĩ kĩonje,
44 where their worm dies not, and their fire is not quenched.
gũkĩra ũthiĩ Jehanamu kũrĩa kũrĩ mwaki ũtahoraga ũrĩ na moko meerĩ. (Geenna g1067)
45 And if your foot ensnare you, cut it off; it is better for you to enter lame into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the unquenchable fire; (Geenna g1067)
Nakuo kũgũrũ gwaku kũngĩtũma wĩhie, gũtinie. Nĩ kaba ũtoonye muoyo-inĩ ũrĩ gĩthua, gũkĩra ũikio Jehanamu ũrĩ na magũrũ meerĩ. (Geenna g1067)
46 where their worm dies not, and their fire is not quenched.
Kũu kĩgunyũ kĩrĩa kĩmarĩĩaga gĩtikuaga, naguo mwaki ũrĩa ũmacinaga ndũhoraga.
47 And if your eye ensnare you, pull it out; it is better for you to enter one-eyed into the kingdom of God, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire; (Geenna g1067)
Na riitho rĩaku rĩngĩtũma wĩhie, rĩkũũre. Nĩ kaba ũtoonye ũthamaki-inĩ wa Ngai ũrĩ na riitho rĩmwe gũkĩra ũikio Jehanamu ũrĩ na maitho meerĩ, (Geenna g1067)
48 where their worm dies not, and their fire is not quenched.
kũu “‘kĩgunyũ kĩrĩa kĩmarĩĩaga gĩtikuaga, naguo mwaki ũrĩa ũmacinaga ndũhoraga.’
49 For every one shall be seasoned with fire; as every sacrifice is seasoned with salt.
Mũndũ o wothe agekĩrwo mũcamo wa cumbĩ nĩ mwaki, (na igongona o rĩothe rĩĩkĩrwo mũcamo na cumbĩ).
50 Salt is good; but if the salt become tasteless, with what will you season it? Preserve salt in yourselves, and maintain peace with one another.
“Cumbĩ nĩ mwega, no cumbĩ ũngĩkorwo nĩũthirĩte mũcamo waguo-rĩ, ũngĩcooka gũcamithio ta cumbĩ na kĩ? Tuĩkai cumbĩ, na mũikaranagie na thayũ.”
