< Mark 1 >
1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God.
The beginning of the Good News of Yeshua Messiah [Salvation Anointed one], the Ben-Elohim ·Son of Elohim God·.
2 As it is written in Isaiah the Prophet, "Behold, I send my messenger before thee, who shall prepare thy way:"
As it is written in the prophets, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you:
3 "The voice of one proclaiming in the wilderness, Prepare a way for the Lord, make for him a straight passage:"
the voice of one crys out in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of MarYah [Master Yahweh]! Make his paths straight!’”
4 thus came John immersing in the wilderness, and publishing the immersion of reformation for the remission of sins.
John [Yah is gracious] came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the mikvah ·ritual washing baptism· of teshuvah ·complete repentance· for forgiveness of abstract sins ·miss the marks·.
5 And all the country of Judea, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, resorted to him, and were immersed by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
All the country of Judea [Praise] and all those of Jerusalem [City of peace] went out to him. They were immersed by him in the Jordan [Descender] river, confessing their abstract sins ·miss the marks·.
6 Now John's clothing was of camel's hair, tied around his waist with a leather girdle: and he lived upon locusts and wild honey.
John [Yah is gracious] was clothed with camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey.
7 And he proclaimed, saying, One mightier than I comes after me, whose shoe-latchet I am unworthy to stoop down and untie.
He preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.
8 I, indeed, have immersed you in water; but he will immerse you in the Holy Spirit.
I immersed you in water, but he will mikvah ·baptise· you in Ruach haKodesh [Spirit, Breath of the Holiness].”
9 At that time Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee to the Jordan, and was immersed by John.
In those days, Yeshua [Salvation] came from Nazareth [Branch, Separated one] of Galilee [District, Circuit], and was immersed by John [Yah is gracious] in the Jordan [Descender].
10 As soon as he arose out of the water, he saw the sky part asunder, and the Spirit descend upon him like a dove.
Immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens parting, and haRuach [the Spirit, Breath] descending on him like a dove.
11 And a voice from heaven, which said, Thou art my Son, the beloved, in whom I delight.
A voice came out of the sky, “You are my agapetos ·beloved, esteemed· Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
12 Immediately after this, the spirit conveyed him into the wilderness;
Immediately haRuach [the Spirit, Breath] drove him out into the wilderness.
13 and he continued in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan; and was among the wild beasts; and the heavenly messengers ministered to him.
He was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan [Adversary]. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.
14 But after John's imprisonment, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good tidings of the Reign of God.
Now after John [Yah is gracious] was taken into custody, Yeshua [Salvation] came into Galilee [District, Circuit], preaching the Good News of God’s Kingdom,
15 The time, he said, is accomplished, the Reign of God approaches; reform, and believe the good tidings.
and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Teshuvah ·Turn repent·, and trust in the Good News.”
16 Then walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew, Simon's brother, casting a drag net into the sea, for they were fishers.
Passing along by the sea of Galilee [District, Circuit], he saw Simeon [Hearing] and Andrew [Manly] the brother of Simeon [Hearing] casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
17 Jesus said to them, Come with me, and I will cause you to be fishers of men.
Yeshua [Salvation] said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men.”
18 Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.
Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.
19 Passing on a little, and seeing James, son of Zebedee, with John his brother, who were mending their nets in a bark,
Going on a little further from there, he saw James son of Zebedee [Surplanter son of Yah Has Bestowed], and John [Yah is gracious], his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.
20 he immediately called them; and leaving their father Zebedee in the bark with the hired servants, they accompanied him.
Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee [Bestowed by Yah], in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.
21 And they went to Capernaum; and on the Sabbath he repaired directly to the synagogue, and instructed the people,
They went into Capernaum [Village-Comfort, Village-Compassion], and immediately on the Sabbath ·To cease· day he entered into the synagogue and taught.
22 who were filled with admiration at his manner of teaching; for he taught as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the Torah-Teachers.
23 Now there was in their synagogue a man possessed with an unclean spirit, who cried out,
Immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,
24 Ah! Jesus of Nazareth, what hast thou to do with us? Art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the Holy One of God.
saying, “Ha! What do we have to do with you, Yeshua [Salvation], you Nazarene [person from Branch, Separated one]? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: haKadosh Elohim [the Holy One of God]!”
25 Jesus rebuking him, said, Be silent, and come out of him.
Yeshua [Salvation] rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”
26 Then the unclean spirit threw him into convulsions; and, raising loud cried, came out of him:
The unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.
27 at which they were all so amazed, that they asked one another, What does this mean? For he commands with authority even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.
They were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him!”
28 And thenceforth his fame spread through all the region of Galilee.
The report of him went out immediately everywhere into all the region of Galilee [District, Circuit] and its surrounding area.
29 As soon as they were come out of the synagogue, they went with James and John into the house of Simon and Andrew,
Immediately, when they had come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simeon [Hearing] and Andrew [Manly], with James [Surplanter] and John [Yah is gracious].
30 where Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, of which they immediately acquainted Jesus.
Now Simeon [Hearing]’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and immediately they told him about her.
31 And he came, and taking her by the hand, raised her; instantly the fever left her, and she entertained them.
He came and took her by the hand, and raised her up. The fever left her, and she served them.
32 In the evening, after sunset, they brought to him all the sick, and the demoniacs;
At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all who were sick, and those who were possessed by demons.
33 the whole city being assembled at the door.
All the city was gathered together at the door.
34 And he healed many persons affected with various diseases, and expelled many demons, whom he permitted not to speak, because they knew him.
He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. He didn’t allow the demons to speak, because they knew him.
35 On the morrow, having risen before dawn, he went out, and retired to a solitary place, and prayed there.
Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there.
36 And Simon and his company went in quest of him,
Simeon [Hearing] and those who were with him followed after him;
37 and having found him, said to him, Every person seeks you.
and they found him, and told him, “Everyone is looking for you.”
38 Jesus said, Let us go to the neighboring boroughs, to make proclamation there also: for I came out with this design.
He said to them, “Let’s go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because I came out for this reason.”
39 Accordingly he proclaimed in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and expelled demons.
He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee [District, Circuit], preaching and casting out demons.
40 And a leper came to him, and on his knees entreated him, saying, If you will, you can cleanse me.
A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, “If you want to, you can make me clean.”
41 Jesus had compassion, and stretching out his hand and touching him, said, I will, be you clean.
Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, “I want to. Be made clean.”
42 This he had no sooner uttered, than the leprosy departed from the man, and he was cleansed.
When he had said this, immediately the tzara'at ·leprosy· departed from him, and he was made clean.
43 Then Jesus strictly charging him, and dismissing him,
He strictly warned him, and immediately sent him out,
44 said, See you tell nothing of this to any man; but go, show yourself to the priest; and offer for your cleansing the things prescribed by Moses, that it may be notified to the people.
and said to him, “See you say nothing to anybody; instead, as a testimony to the people, go and let the priest examine you, and make an offer for your cleansing, as Moses [Drawn out] commanded.”
45 But the man, as soon as he was gone, began to blaze this story, talking openly everywhere, insomuch that Jesus could no longer publicly appear in the city; but remained without in solitary places, whither the people resorted to him from all parts.
But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to spread about the matter, so that Yeshua [Salvation] could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places: and they came to him from everywhere.
